Chapter 465: Skinner (Part 2)

Skinner (Medium)

As the chilling cries grew in pitch, a figure slowly emerged from the dim woods. At first, it was a vague outline, looming beneath the dappled shadows of the trees, like a shadow emerging from the darkness. As it drew closer, the three finally saw it: a creature as massive as a wolf, yet its features were strangely distorted, neither wolf nor human, leaving a powerful visual and psychological impact.

Its eyes gleamed with a faint green light, like two will-o'-the-wisp flames, emitting a sinister aura in the darkness, as if it could see through their souls and glimpse their deepest fears. Its body was covered in a layer of rough, mottled fur, stained with dark red stains like dried blood, emitting a pungent, rancid odor that made one nauseated. Its limbs were thick and powerful, its claws sharp as knives, carving deep marks on the ground, as if proclaiming its power and danger.

"This... this is the Skinner? How can it look so strange and terrifying!" Ouyang Zhenghao cried out in horror, his voice trembling, and the weapon in his hand shook slightly. At this moment, his heart was filled with fear. The appearance of the strange creature before him was far beyond his imagination. An intense sense of unease surged through his heart like a tide, making it almost impossible to breathe. His legs were weak, and every hair on his body stood up, as if countless small insects were crawling on his body. He tried hard to stand firm, but his body involuntarily took a few steps back and almost fell to the ground.

Lin Yu stared intently at the mysterious creature, his eyes revealing both vigilance and determination. "Whatever it is, we can't panic. Stay calm and look for its weaknesses," Lin Yu said. Although his heart was filled with fear, he knew that as the backbone of the team, he had to hold his ground. His mind was racing, trying to find flaws in the creature's movements and form, while simultaneously thinking about a strategy: how to fight this powerful and strange creature while ensuring the safety of his teammates. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his heartbeat, and told himself to stay calm and not lose his composure, otherwise they would all be doomed.

Chen Yao quickly pulled out her testing equipment, attempting to analyze the creature scientifically. "The instruments show extremely strong energy fluctuations surrounding it, and the nature of this energy is very unique, unlike anything we've encountered before," she said, her brow furrowed, her eyes revealing worry and confusion. As an expert in the occult, she was both curious and terrified by this energy beyond her comprehension, wondering what powerful and dangerous power this creature possessed. Her hands trembled slightly as she gripped the instrument tightly, as if it were her last resort in this terrifying situation. She carefully examined the data, trying to find some clue to the creature's weaknesses or countermeasures, but the complexity of the data made her temporarily unable to find a solution.

The wolf-like creature stood there, staring at them intently, a deep growl emanating from its throat, as if warning them not to come any closer. Suddenly, it kicked its hind legs and pounced towards Lin Yu like a flash of black lightning, so fast that no one could react in time. Lin Yu felt only a flash of black shadow before his eyes, and a powerful force rushed towards him. He quickly dodged to the side, and the creature's claws scraped past his body, causing a sharp sound of wind and leaving several deep scratches on his clothes. If he hadn't reacted quickly, the claws would have been enough to tear his body apart.

"Be careful, it's too fast!" Lin Yu shouted, quickly adjusting his posture and preparing to counterattack. His heartbeat was accelerating rapidly. In that moment, he had truly felt the threat of death. But he knew he couldn't retreat. He had to face it bravely, for himself and for his teammates. Fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead and slid down his cheeks, but he didn't bother to wipe them. His eyes were fixed on the creature, ready to deal with its next attack.

Ouyang Zhenghao seized the opportunity and swung his weapon from the side at the creature's leg. However, the weapon only splashed a string of sparks on the creature's leg, but failed to cause any substantial damage to it. "The skin of this thing is too thick, ordinary attacks are useless!" Ouyang Zhenghao shouted anxiously, a trace of despair flashed in his eyes, but was quickly replaced by determination. He knew very well that in this desperate situation, despair was useless, and only by constantly trying could there be a glimmer of hope. He gritted his teeth, raised his weapon again, and chopped at the creature's other leg, shouting at the same time: "I don't believe I can't cut you!"

As Chen Yao dodged the creature's random attacks, she shouted, "Lin Yu, Ouyang, its eyes seem to be its weak point. Try attacking them!" While dodging the attacks, Chen Yao carefully observed the creature's anatomy, trying to find its weak spot. She discovered that its eyes would shrink slightly when it attacked, seemingly sensitive to light and attack. This might be the key to defeating it. She nimbly moved through the trees, dodging the creature's attacks, and shouted to her teammates, hoping they could seize this opportunity and find a way to defeat it.

After hearing Chen Yao's suggestion, Lin Yu quickly considered a countermeasure. "Ouyang, you continue to attract its attention. I'll seize the opportunity to attack its eyes! Chen Yao, you use the energy jammer to disrupt its movements and create an opening for me!" Lin Yu made a decisive move, his eyes revealing firm determination. At this moment, he pinned all his hopes on this plan. Although the chances of success were slim, it was their only chance. He gripped his weapon tightly, waiting for the perfect moment to deliver the creature a fatal blow.
