Skinner (Part 2)
Lin Yu rushed towards the enraged creature like an arrow, his eyes fixed on its only weakness they had discovered so far. The atmosphere in the forest was tense to the extreme, as if the very air itself had been frozen by this invisible pressure. Ouyang Zhenghao brandished his weapon vigorously to attract the monster's attention, while keeping an eye on Lin Yu's movements, silently praying, "Lin Yu, this time you must succeed!" His strength had been greatly depleted from the previous encounters, and his arms felt heavier with each swing of his weapon. But to create an opening for Lin Yu, he gritted his teeth and persevered, sweat drenching his back and dripping down the corners of his clothes.
Chen Yao was concentrating on operating the energy jammer, her eyes fixed on the creature's every move, beads of sweat covering her forehead. The energy waves from the jammer were growing weaker, and she knew they were running out of time. "The jammer's energy is running low, Lin Yu, you have to hurry!" Chen Yao shouted anxiously, her voice trembling slightly in the tense atmosphere.
The creature seemed to sense Lin Yu's intentions. While fending off Ouyang Zhenghao's attacks, it remained vigilant against Lin Yu. Its dark green eyes flashed with a fierce light, and it continuously emitted low roars, shaking the surrounding leaves. Lin Yu approached, taking every step cautiously, searching for the perfect moment to strike. Suddenly, the creature, seizing a gap in Ouyang Zhenghao's attack, turned abruptly and pounced on Lin Yu at an extremely fast speed. Its huge claws, with a whirring sound, went straight for Lin Yu's throat.
"Be careful!" Ouyang Zhenghao and Shen Yao exclaimed simultaneously. Lin Yu's heart tightened, and he quickly dodged to the side, but he was still a step too slow. The claws grazed his shoulder, instantly tearing a gash, and blood gushed out. Lin Yu endured the excruciating pain and did not retreat. Instead, he took advantage of the creature's missed attack and its unstable body to rush forward again. He used all his strength to stab the weapon at the creature's eyes.
This time, the weapon accurately pierced the creature's left eye, and green blood gushed out like a fountain. The creature let out a shrill scream that echoed throughout the forest, as if it was going to shatter everything around it. It twisted its body frantically, trying to throw Lin Yu off, but the huge force knocked Lin Yu flying and he fell heavily to the ground.
"Lin Yu!" Ouyang Zhenghao and Shen Yao rushed over and helped Lin Yu up. Lin Yu's face was pale, but his eyes remained firm: "I'm fine, it's injured, this is our chance!" At this moment, he felt a piercing pain in his shoulder, but he knew that they could not stop and had to pursue the victory.
Despite its injured left eye, the creature remained unfailingly ferocious. Its right eye glared fiercely at them, and an angry roar emanated from its mouth. Suddenly, its body began to undergo a strange transformation. Its wolf-like form gradually twisted, its limbs seemed to lengthen, and its fur began to fall away, revealing its dark red, wrinkled skin beneath, making it look even more ferocious and terrifying.
"What is it...what is it doing?" Ouyang Zhenghao said in horror. The bizarre scene before him made his scalp tingle. He felt as if he were in a nightmare that seemed to have no end.
Chen Yao nervously observed the creature's transformations, her mind racing. "This could be a defense mechanism, attempting to change form to increase its strength after being injured. We must be careful, it could be even more dangerous now!" There was a hint of fear in Chen Yao's voice, but more of a sense of vigilance against unknown dangers. She knew full well that the battle they faced next would be even more difficult.
At that moment, the surrounding forest suddenly darkened. The sunlight that had been filtering through the leaves vanished in an instant. A thick fog rolled in from all directions, enveloping them completely. From within the mist, a variety of strange sounds drifted faintly: low whimpers, shrill screams, as if countless wronged souls were weeping and wailing in the darkness.
"This fog... is strange!" Lin Yu said cautiously. He tried to discern the direction in the fog, but could only see vague figures. At this moment, he had an ominous premonition in his heart, feeling that countless dangers were hidden around him.
Ouyang Zhenghao clenched his weapon and said nervously, "Why do I feel like there are so many things approaching? Could this Skinner summon other monsters?" His voice echoed in the fog, but he received no response. Only those strange sounds became clearer and clearer, causing his heartbeat to accelerate sharply.
Chen Yao quickly pulled out the testing equipment, trying to find some clues from the data. However, the data was a chaotic mess, with various abnormal fluctuations intertwined, making it impossible for her to distinguish them. "The equipment is malfunctioning, we're on our own!" Chen Yao said anxiously, a hint of helplessness in her eyes, but it was quickly replaced by determination.
Suddenly, several black tentacles emerged from the mist and pounced towards them. Lin Yu and the other two quickly dispersed, dodging the tentacles' attack. The tentacles were extremely fast and powerful, easily breaking trees wherever they touched.
"What the hell is this?" Ouyang Zhenghao shouted as he dodged. His eyes were filled with fear. These sudden appearances of tentacles filled him with immense despair. He didn't know how to deal with this situation and could only instinctively dodge the attacks.
Lin Yu nimbly dodged the tentacles while observing his surroundings. He realized they all seemed to be coming from the transforming Skinwalker, which, cloaked in mist, was using its tentacles to attack them. "These tentacles are coming from it! We need to get close to it and stop it from transforming!" Lin Yu shouted, trying to find a solution amid the chaos.
