The Mystery of the Reincarnation Village (Part 2)
After escaping the well, Lin Yu and Zhao Yang, though exhausted, remained resolute in their pursuit of the truth. After a short rest, the three gathered at their temporary shelter to conduct an in-depth analysis of the clues they had gathered.
Ye Li spread the data from the monitoring equipment on the table, her brow furrowed, her eyes focused as if she were trying to penetrate the complex data. "Look, based on the data I've monitored above, the energy fluctuations around the stone platform below exhibit a very unique and chaotic pattern. This energy is neither derived from common natural forms nor from any mysterious energy we've encountered before. It seems to be a fusion of various unknown and mysterious elements, as if... as if it has been twisted and reshaped by some sinister and ancient force." Ye Li spoke, tracing the curves on the data chart with her fingers, trying to tease out a clear clue from the chaotic maze of data. Her voice was steady, but the slight trembling of her fingertips betrayed her inner unease. This unprecedented energy pattern gave her a premonition that the complexity of this incident was far greater than she had imagined.
Lin Yu nodded, his gaze fixed on the data, lost in thought. After a moment, he slowly spoke, "From all indications, the symbols on the ancient well and the stone platform must be the key to unlocking the mystery. Perhaps they are the code to activate some ancient ritual, or perhaps they are the key to sealing a mysterious power. And the villagers' memories of reincarnation suggest this mysterious power is at work. But the crux of the matter is, where does this mysterious power come from? What is its purpose? Why has it chosen this seemingly ordinary little village?" Lin Yu's eyes revealed deep confusion. The mystery hidden behind this seemingly peaceful little village was like a deep black hole, constantly devouring their known knowledge and drawing them in for ever deeper exploration. At this moment, his heart was filled with confusion and curiosity. On the one hand, he was haunted by the fear of the unknown, while on the other, his thirst for the truth drove him forward.
Zhao Yang scratched his head, a thoughtful look on his face. He said, "Could it be that someone is deliberately manipulating all this? Perhaps they're orchestrating these mysterious reincarnation rumors to achieve some ulterior motive. Perhaps they're using the mysterious power of this ancient well and the stone platform to exert some strange influence on the villagers." Zhao Yang's thoughts, though simple and direct, were not without reason. There was indeed a high probability of malicious human manipulation behind this series of bizarre events. He was filled with anger and vigilance towards this possible mastermind, and he also secretly worried that the enemy they faced might be far more cunning and dangerous than they had imagined.
Lin Yu's eyes lit up, as if he had caught a glimmer of light in the darkness. "Zhao Yang has a point. We've been so focused on the supernatural phenomena themselves that we've overlooked the possibility of human involvement. Perhaps we should shift the focus of our investigation and start with the villagers. We should carefully investigate whether any strangers have appeared in the village recently, or whether there's been any unusual movement. This could be a new lead, helping us uncover the truth behind this incident." Lin Yu felt that this might be the key to breaking the current deadlock. If he continued to investigate this clue, he might be able to clear the fog and see the full picture.
So, the three of them once again delved into the village to investigate. They went door to door, asking villagers if they had noticed any strangers around the village recently, or if anything unusual had occurred. However, most villagers denied seeing anything unusual, bringing their investigation to a standstill. Every time a villager shook their head in denial, Lin Yu grew increasingly anxious, fearing that this hard-earned clue would be lost.
Just when they were feeling a little frustrated, an elderly grandmother quietly pulled Lin Yu aside, her eyes revealing a hint of fear and caution. She lowered her voice, as if afraid of being overheard, and said, "Young man, let me tell you something. Some time ago, I saw a few strange people coming from outside the village. They were wearing black robes with strange dark red patterns embroidered on the edges, like some kind of mysterious symbols. They wore wide-brimmed black hats on their heads, covering their faces tightly, leaving only a pair of eyes exposed. Those eyes were cold and frightening to look at." The grandmother trembled slightly as she recalled the scene at that time, her eyes filled with fear.
"They sneaked around the village for a few times and went to the ancient well on purpose. They stayed by the well for a long time, as if performing some kind of ritual. One of them took out a small black bottle from his arms and poured some black liquid into the well. As soon as the liquid touched the well water, black smoke came out and a pungent odor was emitted. Then they left in a hurry, and when they left, they seemed to be heading towards the mountains behind the village. I felt strange at the time, but didn't care too much. Now I think about it, maybe it is related to these strange things happening in the village." The old lady finished speaking in one breath, looking around nervously, as if those mysterious people would appear again at any time.
Lin Yu was delighted. This was undoubtedly an important clue. He quickly asked, "Grandma, do you remember when they arrived? Which direction did they go? Did you notice any other characteristics of theirs?"
The old lady thought for a moment and said, "It was about half a month ago. I remember it had just rained that day, and the ground was still wet. When they left, they were indeed heading towards the mountains behind the village. As for the other characteristics... Oh, I think I heard them talking. Their voices were very low, and they didn't seem to speak our dialect. It sounded strange, like some ancient language. I couldn't understand a word they said."
