Chapter 485: The Mystery of the Reincarnation Village (Part 2)

After thanking the old woman, Lin Yu immediately returned to his residence and shared this crucial clue with Ye Li and Zhao Yang. "It looks like we finally have a new lead. These mysterious individuals are likely the mastermind. We need to explore the mountains behind the village and see if we can uncover anything. But we must be fully prepared. Since they can manipulate all this, they must be no ordinary people. This trip could be very dangerous," Lin Yu said, his eyes revealing excitement and anticipation, but also a hint of worry. He knew full well that what lay ahead might be an elaborate trap, but to uncover the truth, they had no choice.

The three of them packed up their gear and headed toward the mountains behind the village. The path was steep and difficult to navigate. The surrounding forest was lush and verdant, blocking out the sun. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting only tiny specks of light, creating eerie patches of light and shadow on the ground. Occasionally, the call of an unknown bird could be heard, its sharp and eerie sound like an ominous prelude to their journey.

Suddenly, Zhao Yang, walking ahead, stopped and gestured for silence. Pointing to a spot not far ahead, he whispered, "Look, there seems to be a cave over there. There are some footprints at the entrance. They look very recent. And the shape of these footprints is a bit strange. They don't look like ordinary footprints. The sole is wide, but the heel is narrow." Zhao Yang's voice was low, yet it tinged with nervousness. A foreboding premonition welled up in him. He felt that this cave might be the lair of a mysterious person, and those strange footprints seemed to hint at unknown dangers lurking within.

Lin Yu and Ye Li looked in the direction Zhao Yang pointed and, as expected, saw a cave hidden behind dense bushes. The entrance was obscured by vines, making it difficult to spot without careful observation. The atmosphere around them grew increasingly eerie, as if countless eyes were watching them from the darkness. Lin Yu took a deep breath and said, "Let's be careful and approach slowly. We don't know what's inside, but we must remain vigilant." Lin Yu's heartbeat quickened involuntarily; he could sense the danger approaching, but his gaze remained firm, determined to uncover the secret.

The three of them approached the cave cautiously, taking every step with extreme caution, fearing that even the slightest sound would alert the unknown being within. When they reached the entrance, a chilling air, carrying with it a rank, rancid smell, made them nauseous. Ye Li covered her mouth and nose, frowning and saying, "This smells awful! It feels like something is rotting inside." Fear filled Ye Li's heart, but she tried to remain calm. As an expert in the occult, she knew that panicking in such a situation would only make matters worse.

Lin Yu nodded, signaling everyone to continue forward. They pushed aside the vines and entered the cave. It was pitch black, pitch dark. Lin Yu turned on his headlamp, the dim light faint in the darkness, illuminating only a small area ahead. The cave walls were uneven and covered with strange patterns. Some of these patterns resembled ancient writing, or mysterious patterns, as if telling an unknown story.

"Look at the patterns on the cave walls. Do they have any connection to the symbols on the stone platform?" Zhao Yang whispered, his voice echoing hollowly in the cave. He was filled with both curiosity and fear: curiosity about the secrets behind these patterns, yet fearful that something terrifying might suddenly appear.

Lin Yu observed it carefully and said, "It's very likely. These textures also seem to be symbols of some kind of mysterious power. Perhaps this is the key to solving all the mysteries. But we have to be careful. We don't know what dangers are waiting for us in here." Lin Yu's eyes revealed vigilance. He held the weapon tightly in his hand, ready to deal with any emergency at any time.

They moved cautiously along the cave when they suddenly heard a low chanting sound coming from the front. The voice was indistinct, as if it came from far away, yet it seemed to be right next to their ears. The sound was indescribably strange and gave them goosebumps.

"What's that sound? It sounds terrifying," Ye Li whispered, her body trembling slightly. She tried to search her knowledge for clues about the chanting, but she had no clue. This unknown feeling only intensified her fear.

Lin Yu said, "Don't be afraid. Let's keep going and see what's making the noise. But be careful, this could be a trap set by the enemy." Although Lin Yu tried to comfort Ye Li, he was also filled with fear. The strange chanting seemed to have a magical power, causing his heart to beat uncontrollably and every nerve to tense to the extreme.

As they approached the source of the sound, they were stunned by the sight before them. Deep within the cave, a massive circular stone platform was engraved with symbols similar to those at the ancient well, though even more complex. Black candles, burning with green flames and emitting an eerie glow, were placed around the platform. In the center, a figure in a black robe stood with his back to them, muttering something. A black mist surrounded him, and within it emerged the faint outlines of distorted human faces, wailing in agony.

"Who is that? What is he doing?" Zhao Yang asked in a low voice, his eyes filled with shock and fear. At this moment, his heart was filled with confusion and fear. He didn't understand what evil ritual this mysterious man was performing, nor did he know what danger they were about to face.

Lin Yu said, "Whoever he is, he's definitely connected to the strange happenings in the village. Let's not act rashly. Let's wait and see what he's going to do." Lin Yu stared at the mysterious man, rapidly thinking of a response. He knew they were in danger, and a single misstep could lead to irretrievable destruction. But he also understood that this was a golden opportunity to uncover the truth, and it must not be missed.
