Chapter 489 The Disappearing Train (Part 2)

As they attacked, the blue light on the monster began to flicker, sometimes brighter, sometimes fainter, like a candle about to go out. Its strength seemed to gradually weaken, and its once nimble limbs became sluggish. But the monster did not give up its resistance. It swung its massive arms, and with a whirring sound, it rushed towards Lin Yu and Zhao Yang. Lin Yu and Zhao Yang were unable to avoid the blows and were hit by the arms. Their bodies flew out like a kite with a broken string, falling heavily to the ground, raising a cloud of dust.

"Lin Yu! Zhao Yang!" Ye Li called out anxiously, her voice filled with worry. Without hesitation, she quickly ran over to the two men and squatted down to check their injuries. Fortunately, they were only slightly injured and not seriously injured, but this brief confrontation also made them clearly realize that the monster before them was still very dangerous.

"We can't give up, keep attacking! This is our chance to defeat it!" Lin Yu gritted his teeth, his eyes revealing a firm belief. He struggled to his feet, ignoring the pain in his body, and rushed towards the monster again. Zhao Yang was not to be outdone, and despite the discomfort in his body, he followed closely behind Lin Yu, his eyes also filled with unyielding fighting spirit.

They returned to the monster's side, ignoring its frantic attacks. With unwavering determination and tacit coordination, they continued to launch round after round of attacks at the diamond-shaped mark on its chest. Each attack was accompanied by the monster's painful roar and violent tremors. With their unremitting efforts, the blue light on the monster's body gradually weakened, its movements became increasingly sluggish, and the force and frequency of its attacks decreased significantly.

Finally, after another fierce attack, the monster let out a shrill scream that echoed through the tunnel for a long time, as if announcing its defeat. Then, its body collapsed to the ground with a loud thud, sending up a cloud of dust. As the monster fell, the blue light on its body completely vanished. The surrounding air gradually returned to calm, and the tunnel once again fell into a deathly silence.

The three of them breathed a sigh of relief and collapsed to the ground. Their bodies were exhausted, their spirits on the verge of collapse. After a long moment, Lin Yu slowly stood up, looked at the fallen monster before him, and said, "Although we've defeated this monster, the mystery of the missing train is far from solved. Let's continue searching for clues on the train to see if we can figure out what happened." His voice was a hint of fatigue, but his eyes still shone with his determination to find the truth.

Ye Li and Zhao Yang nodded, knowing full well that this was only the first step in uncovering the mystery; more secrets lay hidden within this mysteriously missing train. They dragged their exhausted bodies back to the front of the train. After a thorough search, Ye Li discovered a hidden compartment within the cab. Cleverly concealed beneath the instrument panel, it was practically invisible without careful inspection. The surface of the compartment was covered in mysterious patterns similar to those found on the train's exterior. These intricate patterns seemed to speak an ancient, mystical language, telling an untold story.

Ye Li took a deep breath, recalling the pattern of the lines she had discovered earlier. Then, cautiously, she reached out and gently touched the lines on the secret compartment in the order she remembered. As Ye Li touched them, the lines suddenly glowed faintly, flowing slowly along the lines as if infused with life. Then, the secret compartment slowly opened, and a stale, decaying smell filled her face, causing her to frown.

A somewhat worn diary appeared from the secret compartment. The pages were yellowed, and the edges had begun to curl, as if it had gone through a long time. The handwriting was a little blurry, but still barely legible. Lin Yu gently picked up the diary, slowly opened the first page, and began to read carefully.

The diary's contents shocked them. The train's driver had stumbled upon a mysterious blue portal in the tunnel while traveling. It appeared without warning just ahead of the tracks, emitting a soft yet eerie blue light. The air around it seemed to distort, forming strange ripples that seemed to connect to an unknown world. Out of curiosity, or perhaps an irresistible impulse, the driver didn't stop the train, but instead drove the train straight through it.

However, after entering the light gate, the train arrived in a completely unfamiliar dimension. A faint purple mist permeated the air, shimmering with strange lights, as if countless pairs of eyes were watching them from the darkness. Strange sounds emanated from the space from time to time, like the whispered sobbing of someone, or the grim laughter of a demon, interweaving in a terrifying cacophony. As the train continued through this dimension, the surrounding scenery shifted constantly. Sometimes, towering black peaks appeared, ablaze with green flames; sometimes, a barren desert, filled with blood-red dust.

In this dimension, the train was attacked by the monster they had just defeated. The monster suddenly appeared in front of the train like a ghost, its body looming in a purple mist, and the blue flames in its eyes burned even more vigorously. The driver recorded the terrifying events on the train in detail in his diary. Passengers screamed in fear as the monster waved its huge arms, repeatedly ramming the train. The body of the train shook continuously under the impact, the windows shattered, and some passengers were thrown out by the powerful impact and disappeared into the strange mist. The driver tried to drive the train away, but the monster was in hot pursuit. Its speed was extremely fast, like a flash of blue lightning, and it could catch up with the train in an instant.

The driver also mentioned in his diary that he discovered a blue diamond-shaped mark on the monster's body, seemingly the core of its power. He had attempted to have the train's security personnel attack the mark, but all attempts failed. As time passed, the train dwindled in passengers, and fear spread like a plague. Finally, the diary abruptly ended here, as if the recorder had encountered some unexpected event, leaving him no time to continue.
