Secrets in the Cellar
The group slowly approached the shadow, each step weighing a thousand pounds. Their breathing became rapid and erratic, their heartbeats becoming increasingly audible in the silent cellar. The flashlight in Lin Yu's hand flickered, and as they drew closer, the shadow's outline gradually became clearer.
"How...why is there a sarcophagus here?" a team member said in a trembling voice. His voice echoed in the enclosed space, filled with endless fear and confusion. His legs began to weaken, and his body involuntarily stepped back. "This is horrible, we shouldn't have come here." His eyes were filled with horror, as if he had witnessed the most terrifying scene in the world.
Su Na clutched Lin Yu's arm tightly, her nails practically digging into his flesh. "This place feels so eerie. Let's go," she cried, her body trembling. "I don't want to stay here anymore, Lin Yu. Please, let's leave." Horrifying images surfaced in her mind, as if the sarcophagus would suddenly open and something terrifying would leap out.
Old Chen stepped forward, his expression a touch nervous, yet more curious and determined. He examined the sarcophagus carefully, his gaze sweeping over every detail. "Perhaps there's something we need in here," he said in a deep, forceful voice, trying to suppress his fear. "We've run out of options, and perhaps this is our only hope." He wondered if he could find some useful clues or items within the sarcophagus, perhaps they could help them escape their current predicament.
Lin Yu hesitated, his eyes moving back and forth between the sarcophagus and his teammates. He could sense everyone's fear, but he also understood that there was some truth in what Lao Chen said. "Open it and take a look, but everyone must be careful," he finally said, his voice trembling. He took a deep breath, as if to encourage himself. "We'll face it together, no matter what's inside."
Everyone looked at each other, and although their hearts were filled with fear, they nodded. They slowly gathered around the sarcophagus, each of them with trembling hands.
As they struggled to push open the sarcophagus lid, a chilling breath blew in their faces. It seemed to come from an extremely cold place, instantly penetrating their bodies and nearly freezing their blood.
Inside the sarcophagus lay a skeleton, its bones appearing particularly eerie in the flashlight. Its posture was twisted, as if it had experienced immense pain at the moment of death. Its hands seemed to be holding something, faintly visible in the darkness.
"Ah!" someone screamed in fear, the sound echoing in the cellar like a cry of despair. "What is this? This is horrible!" He turned around and wanted to escape, but his legs would not obey him and he could only collapse to the ground.
Lin Yu forced himself to remain calm, even though his heart was pounding like a drum and his throat was dry. "Don't be afraid, let's see what it is first." His voice was trembling, but he tried to remain calm. "Maybe this is the key to finding a way out." His eyes were fixed on the object in Bai Gu's hand, his heart filled with fear and anticipation.
He stretched out his hand carefully, his fingers trembling. When his fingers were about to touch the skeletal hand, he could feel a chill spread from his fingertips to his whole body. He took a deep breath and finally touched the skeletal hand.
At this moment, a strange sound suddenly rang out. It was like a low whimper, but also like a sharp whistle, making people's hair stand on end. The sound echoed between the walls, as if countless ghosts were crying and screaming.
"What's that sound?" someone asked in horror, his voice full of despair.
Lin Yu's hand stopped in mid-air, and his eyes quickly swept around, trying to find the source of the sound. "I don't know, but we can't stop." He gritted his teeth and continued to reach for the thing in Bai Gu's hand.
Su Na covered her ears, tears welling up in her eyes. "Lin Yu, let's go, I can't stand it anymore." Her voice was distorted by fear, and her body was shaking.
Old Chen shouted loudly: "Don't be afraid, this may be some kind of mechanism!" His voice sounded particularly firm in the chaos.
Lin Yu finally got what Bai Gu held in his hand. It was a black box inlaid with some strange symbols and patterns. The moment he picked up the box, the strange sound became more intense, as if it was going to burst their eardrums.
"What's in this box?" Lin Yu thought to himself, sweat dripping from his forehead.
Suddenly, the ground around the sarcophagus began to shake, cracks appeared on the walls, and dust fell.
"Oh no, this place is going to collapse!" someone shouted.
Everyone panicked and ran towards the exit of the cellar...
