Chapter 58: Mysterious Purpose

The Mysterious Man's Purpose

Just as everyone was reaching their peak of tension, the sound of horse hooves faded away like the fading beat of a drum. Everyone pricked up their ears, listening carefully for the changes in the sound, fearing that it was just a temporary illusion.

"Have they left?" someone asked in a low voice, as soft as a falling feather, filled with uncertainty and fear. His eyes peered out nervously through the gaps in the sand dunes, his body stiff with excessive tension.

Lin Yu cautiously poked his head out, his movements slow and cautious, as if he feared his actions would attract the attention of the mysterious person. He quickly scanned the surroundings, observing for a moment. "It looks like he's gone, but don't act rashly." His voice was low and serious, with a hint of undeniable authority. His heart was still beating rapidly, and beads of sweat on his forehead slid down his cheeks and dripped onto the scorching sand.

A moment later, time seemed to freeze, each second stretching indefinitely. Aside from the occasional rustle of wind, there was complete silence. Once everyone was certain the mysterious figure had left, they breathed a sigh of relief. Everyone felt as if their muscles and bones had been drained from them, collapsing to the ground.

"What are these mysterious people doing? Why are they here?" Suna asked, her face filled with confusion, her brow furrowed, her eyes filled with unease and anxiety. Her voice trembled slightly, and the memory of those mysterious figures filled her heart with a chill. "How could we be so unlucky? There are dangers everywhere." Her lips, cracked from dryness, stung as she spoke.

Old Chen pondered for a moment, his gaze deep and solemn, as if pondering an extremely complex problem. "I think they're here with ill intentions. Perhaps it's connected to that cellar." His voice was low and hoarse, carrying the vicissitudes of life and wisdom. "Perhaps that cellar holds something they desire." His fingers scratched unconsciously in the sand, his heart filled with worry.

Lin Yu opened the black box in his hand, revealing a yellowed parchment with strange patterns and symbols drawn on it. The patterns resembled ancient spells, or some kind of mysterious map, leaving people baffled.

"What is this?" Everyone gathered around, their eyes focused on the parchment, their eyes full of curiosity and confusion.

Lin Yu shook his head. "I don't know, but I feel like this thing is important." His fingers gently touched the pattern on the parchment, trying to find some clues. "Maybe this is the key to solving all the mysteries." His brows furrowed, and he fell into deep thought.

At this moment, the sound of horse hooves came from afar, and it was getting closer and closer. The sound was like rolling thunder, shaking the ground slightly.

"Oh no! They're back again!" Everyone's heart was once again in turmoil, and their nerves, which had just relaxed, were instantly tense to the extreme. Fear, like an icy tide, once again flooded everyone's heart.

"What should we do? What should we do?" Someone began to panic, his voice full of despair.

Lin Yu quickly put the parchment back into the box and said, "Don't panic, everyone. Hide first!" Although his voice was nervous, he remained calm.

Everyone quickly hid again, not daring to breathe. Everyone's heartbeat was audible, as if a symphony of fear was playing in the silent desert.

The sound of horse hooves was getting closer and closer, as if every step was stepping on everyone's heart.

"It's nearby, look carefully!" A rough voice came with irresistible majesty.

"Don't be discovered, don't be discovered." Suna prayed silently in her heart, her hands tightly covering her mouth, afraid that she would make any sound.

Old Chen gripped the wooden stick tightly in his hand, stared outside, and was ready to fight at any time.

Lin Yu's palms were full of sweat. He held the box tightly, thinking that he had to protect this potentially crucial thing at all costs.

The clatter of horse hooves stopped in their hiding place, and for a moment, the surroundings fell into a deathly silence. The beating of everyone's heart seemed to be the only sound in the world.

"Come out, I know you are here!" The rough voice sounded again, with a hint of pride and sarcasm.
