Crisis in the Cave
The deep roar echoed through the cave, making everyone's ears ring, as if the entire cave were trembling with the roar. Lin Yu's heartbeat suddenly accelerated, as if being tightly grasped by an invisible hand, and beads of cold sweat broke out on his forehead. Every drop of sweat slid down his cheek, and in this tense atmosphere, the subtle touch was infinitely magnified.
"Everyone, backs up against the wall! Get ready!" Lin Yu shouted, his voice echoing through the cave with undeniable resolve. His eyes, sharp as an eagle's, fixed on the direction of the roaring in the darkness, his grip on his weapon tightening. "Stay calm! We can handle this!" He mentally encouraged himself, hoping to instill courage and confidence in his teammates.
The team quickly gathered, nervously watching the movement in the darkness. Suna's hands were shaking, and the flashlight's beam flickered in her trembling hands, causing the shadows around them to dance. Her heart was beating so fast that it threatened to burst out of her chest. "I'm... I'm scared," she whispered, her voice filled with fear and helplessness.
At that moment, a massive figure slowly emerged from the darkness. Its bulk, like a small mountain, shook the ground with every step. Its form loomed in the dim light, emitting a chilling aura. Its eyes gleamed with an eerie red light, like burning charcoal, making it impossible to gaze directly at it.
"What the hell is this monster?" one of the team members exclaimed, his voice shrill and piercing with fear. His eyes widened with terror and disbelief. "How can we possibly defeat this?" His legs began to weaken, and he could barely stand.
Old Chen swallowed hard, trying to calm himself. "It looks like they're going to be tough," he said in a low, hoarse voice. "But we can't retreat. Everyone, we must hold on!" His gaze swept over each team member, trying to give them courage and strength.
The monster opened its bloody mouth and spewed out a pungent breath. The breath was like the stench of a rotting corpse, making people's stomachs churn.
"Open fire!" Lin Yu ordered decisively, his voice breaking the brief fear and silence.
The team members raised their weapons and fired at the monster. Bullets rained down on the monster, colliding with its tough hide and sending up showers of sparks. The sound of each shot echoed through the cave like a fierce battle symphony.
However, the bullets didn't seem to cause much damage to it. The monster's skin was like a layer of solid armor, easily withstanding the bullets' attacks.
The monster, enraged, pounced upon the group. Its speed was lightning-fast, leaving no time for reaction. One team member, unable to dodge, was knocked flying by the monster. His body arced through the air, slamming heavily against the cave wall before sliding down and lying motionless on the ground.
"Be careful!" Lin Yu shouted, his voice full of anxiety and worry.
Everyone fought and retreated, trying to find the monster's weakness. Every step back was filled with fear and uncertainty, and the slippery ground underfoot made it difficult to move forward.
"Its belly seems vulnerable!" Suna shouted, her voice shrill with nervousness.
Upon hearing this, Lin Yu fired at the monster's abdomen without hesitation. Bullets pierced the monster's abdomen one after another, and the monster roared in pain. The sound was so deafening that it almost ruptured one's eardrums. Its movements became sluggish, as if it had suffered a severe injury.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, the team concentrated their firepower on the monster's abdomen. Flames flickered in the darkness, and bullets shot like meteors towards the monster's weak spot.
Finally, the monster fell to the ground, motionless. Its massive body hit the ground with a dull thud, raising a cloud of dust.
"Finally solved." Lin Yu breathed a sigh of relief, his body trembling slightly from tension and fatigue. "Everyone, check your equipment and injuries." There was a hint of fatigue in his voice.
However, before they could recover, strange noises began to emanate from the cave. They sounded like countless claws scratching against the stone walls, or like low whimpers and roars.
"What...what is this?" a team member asked tremblingly, his voice filled with new fear.
Lin Yu frowned, "I don't know, but we must be prepared." His eyes became firm again, "No matter what we encounter, we must get through it together!"
Everyone's nerves were once again tense, their heartbeats and breathing sounds particularly clear in the silent cave. They gripped their weapons tightly, ready to face the new challenge...
