Chapter 78 The Mystery of the Kunlun Mountain Crack

The Mystery of the Kunlun Mountain Fissure

After a thrilling and life-and-death battle with the monster, everyone was exhausted both physically and mentally. But after a short rest, they received a new mysterious mission - to go to Kunlun Mountain to investigate a mysterious crack.

Lin Yu sat in the shabby makeshift command post, the lights dim, his figure casting a long shadow on the wall. He looked intently at the documents in his hands, his expression serious and his brow furrowed, as if those few thin pages were carrying a heavy burden.

"It is said that the appearance of this crack is very strange, and strange phenomena often occur around it." Lin Yu's voice broke the silence in the room. He raised his eyes from the information and swept across his teammates sitting together.

Suna sat aside, holding a cup of hot water tightly in her hand, trying to get a little comfort from the little bit of warmth. Hearing Lin Yu's words, she frowned and asked, "What kind of strange phenomenon could it be?" There was a hint of uneasiness in her voice, and her eyes revealed the fear of the unknown.

Old Chen sat in the corner, silent, the cigarette butt flickering in the darkness. Hearing Suna's question, he shook his head, took a deep drag, and said slowly, "It's not clear yet, but we must proceed with caution this time." His voice was low and hoarse, as if tempered by time and vicissitudes of life.

After a long trek, they finally reached the foot of Mount Kunlun. The towering peaks, reaching into the clouds, loomed before them, like a gateway to another world. White snow capped the peaks, gleaming dazzlingly in the sunlight. But the crowd had no time to admire the magnificent scenery; their hearts were filled with awe and anxiety.

They trudged along the steep mountain path, each step fraught with danger, the rocks and snow beneath their feet. A howling wind rustled their clothes. Lin Yu walked at the front of the group, holding a wooden stick to test the safety of the path ahead.

Suna followed him, breathless, her face covered in sweat and snow. "This road is too difficult to walk on. I wonder how long it will take to get there," she muttered softly, her heart full of complaints. But she knew that this mission was crucial and she couldn't retreat even a little.

Old Chen encouraged everyone from behind: "Hold on, girls, we'll be there soon." His voice sounded a little weak in the wind, but it gave everyone a little strength.

Finally, after several hours of arduous climbing, they reached the crack. It appeared abruptly before their eyes, like a deep wound in the earth. The crack was bottomless, and the darkness seemed to swallow everything. Gusts of cold wind blew from it, bringing with it a chill that was bone-chilling, a chill that seemed to penetrate the very bone, making people shiver uncontrollably.

"This crack looks so weird." A team member couldn't help but say, his voice trembling and his eyes full of fear.

Lin Yu cautiously approached the edge of the crack, taking each step with extreme caution, as if he were treading a bottomless abyss. He slowly crouched down and peered down. The darkness was devoid of anything, only the endless depths and the unknown. "Everyone, don't act rashly. Let's observe the surroundings first." His voice was low and calm, yet his heart was filled with vigilance.

At this moment, a strange sound came from not far away, like the low hum of some creature. The sound was low and long, like a call from ancient times, echoing in the valley, making people's heartbeats accelerate instantly.

Everyone tensed up, gripping their weapons tightly. Suna's palms were sweaty, and her breathing became rapid. "What's that sound?" Her voice trembled noticeably.

Lao Chen's face turned serious. "I don't know, but it's definitely not a good thing." He raised the gun in his hand and looked around vigilantly.

Lin Yu stood up and said, "Everyone, stand back to back in a circle and pay attention to the movements around you." His voice was decisive and firm, trying to calm everyone's emotions.

The strange sound was getting closer and closer, as if something was slowly approaching. The wind also became stronger, rustling the branches and stones around.

"Get ready for battle!" Lin Yu shouted.

The team members' nerves were stretched to the limit, their eyes fixed on every corner in the darkness.

Suddenly, a huge shadow slowly rose from the crack...
