Chapter 80: The Line Between Life and Death

The Line Between Life and Death

As the monster was about to pounce on Lao Chen and Suna, time seemed to freeze. Lin Yu's eyes widened instantly, his pupils reflecting the impending disaster. Without the slightest hesitation, he turned abruptly, quickly pulled a grenade from his waist, and threw it at the monster with all his might.

"BOOM!" A deafening roar erupted, as if the entire valley were shaking. The powerful blast from the grenade explosion was like an invisible giant hand, slamming the monster to the ground. Flames shot up into the sky, thick smoke billowed, and debris and dust flew everywhere.

"Now's the time to go!" Lin Yu shouted, his voice hoarse from tension and exhaustion. His face was covered in sweat and dust, mixed together to form streaks of mud. But his eyes were resolute, revealing an unyielding determination.

Old Chen came to his senses instantly after hearing Lin Yu's cry. He ignored his own injuries and quickly helped Su Na to her feet. Su Na's legs were weak and she could barely stand, but with Old Chen's support, she still managed to move forward.

"Girl, hold on!" Old Chen said to Suna as he ran. His breathing was rapid and heavy, and every breath seemed to be forcibly pulled out of his lungs. But his hand tightly grasped Suna's arm, giving her strength and support.

The three of them fled desperately, their footsteps echoing in the narrow valley. Lin Yu led the way, his eyes constantly scanning the surroundings, looking for a place to hide.

They ran into a narrow cave, which was filled with a damp and rotten smell. There were drops of water dripping from the cave wall, and the ground was slippery, so if you were not careful, you might fall.

"We should be able to stop it here for now," Lin Yu said, panting. His chest heaved violently, and every breath was filled with deep fatigue.

But before they could finish their words, the monster's roar could be heard again. The sound was like rolling thunder, echoing in the cave and getting closer and closer. Each roar was like a heavy hammer, hitting everyone's heart hard.

Suna's face turned pale with fear, her lips trembling, her eyes filled with despair and fear. "It won't let us go, what should we do?" Her voice was filled with tears, and her body involuntarily leaned towards Lao Chen.

Old Chen hugged Suna tightly, trying to calm her. His gaze was determined, as if burning with an inextinguishable flame. "Don't be afraid, girl. As long as we're together, there's always a way. At worst, we'll just have to fight it!" His voice was deep and powerful, filled with determination.

At this moment, Lin Yu suddenly discovered a faint light deep in the cave. The light seemed so small and fragile in the darkness, but it gave them a glimmer of hope.

"Maybe there is a way out!" Lin Yu said, with a hint of excitement and anticipation in his voice.

They ran towards the light, the road became increasingly rugged, and their steps became increasingly unsteady. But that ray of light was like a powerful magnet, drawing them forward.

However, when they finally reached the light, everyone was stunned. Ahead was a bottomless cliff, and below was darkness, like an endless abyss. A cold wind blew from under the cliff, bringing a biting chill.

"It's over, there's no way out!" a team member shouted in despair. His voice echoed in the empty cliff, sounding particularly desolate.

Lin Yu walked to the edge of the cliff and looked down, feeling dizzy. "Are we really going to die here?" He was filled with resentment and helplessness.

Lao Chen gritted his teeth and said, "Even if we die, we can't let the monster succeed!"

Tears welled up in Suna's eyes. "I don't want to die. I want to go home..."

Just when everyone was in despair, the monster's footsteps were getting closer and closer...
