Chapter 87: The Unknown Fear in the Dark

The Unknown Fear in the Dark

As the powerful airflow surged, a pungent odor instantly filled the air. It was like a mixture of rotting corpses and pungent chemicals, making one's stomach churn.

"This smell is disgusting!" One team member couldn't help but dry heave. His face turned pale instantly, and the acid in his stomach kept rising, almost vomiting. "What the hell is emitting this?" He covered his mouth and nose with his hands, trying to block out the disgusting smell, but the smell was like an all-pervasive demon, still irritating his olfactory nerves.

Lin Yu quickly covered his mouth and nose, his brow furrowed. "Everyone, be careful. This could be some kind of warning." His voice was low and serious, his eyes filled with vigilance. "This smell is definitely not ordinary. It might mean a greater danger is approaching." His heartbeat was rapidly accelerating, his brain racing, thinking of a response strategy. "We must remain calm and not panic," he silently warned himself.

Suna's voice trembled as she spoke, "I feel like a pair of eyes are watching us from the darkness." Her body trembled involuntarily, as if bound by an invisible force of fear. "From a while ago, I've felt like I was being watched, like something terrible was waiting for its chance to pounce on us." Her eyes darted around in fear, but though she could see nothing, the feeling of being watched only grew stronger.

Old Chen swallowed, trying to calm his nerves. "Don't scare yourself, girl." His voice was composed, but the fear within him was growing. "Maybe it's just your imagination. Don't let it get to you." He comforted Suna, while also trying to cheer himself up. "We've been through so much. We'll definitely get through this," he prayed silently in his heart.

Suddenly, a huge shadow passed over everyone's heads. The shadow was so fast, like a ghost, that people had no time to see its appearance clearly.

"What's that?" someone exclaimed. The voice, filled with fear and surprise, echoed in the cave with a particularly shrill tone.

The temperature in the cave plummeted, freezing cold. A chill spread rapidly from the soles of their feet throughout their bodies, as if they were in an ice cellar. Everyone shivered, their teeth chattering uncontrollably.

Lin Yu's face was grim, his gaze fixed on the direction where the shadow had vanished. "Whatever it is, we must be prepared for battle." His voice was firm and powerful, trying to instill a sense of courage and confidence in everyone. "We can't just sit there and wait for death. We must take the initiative." His hand gripped the weapon tightly, his knuckles turning white from the strain.

"But how can we fight when we don't even know who the enemy is?" a team member said tremblingly, his voice full of despair and helplessness.

"Even if I don't know, I have to give it a try. It's better than waiting to die here!" Lin Yu shouted loudly, his eyes burning with anger and determination.

Suna took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. "Lin Yu is right. We can't just give up like this." She picked up the weapon from the ground, a look of determination in her eyes.

Old Chen also nodded, "That's right, we will face it together!"

At this moment, a low roar came from the cave. The sound seemed to come from the depths of hell, filled with endless anger and murderous intent.

Everyone's faces turned paler in an instant, and fear enveloped them like a huge net.

"What kind of monster is this?" someone asked stutteringly.

Lin Yu gritted his teeth and said, "No matter what it is, we must defeat it!"

The roar was getting closer and closer, and the whole cave was shaking as if it was about to collapse.

"Everyone stay close together and don't disperse!" Lin Yu shouted loudly.

Everyone huddled together, gripping their weapons even tighter, waiting for the unknown horror to arrive...
