Chapter 91: Mystery in the Mountains

Mystery in the Deep Mountains

Lin Yu and Su Na led a well-trained team, traveled day and night, and quickly rushed to the deep mountains of Guizhou after receiving the notice.

When they finally reached the mountainside where the mysterious dragon lay, everyone was stunned by the sight, speechless for a moment. Lin Yu stared up at the dragon, his eyes wide, a turbulent storm rising within him. "This is simply incredible! Such a massive, lifelike dragon is beyond the reach of modern technology," he muttered, his voice filled with wonder and confusion. His gaze traced the dragon's winding form, carefully examining the texture of each scale, the sculpted lines, as if trying to decipher a hidden secret.

Suna was equally captivated by the dragon before her. Her brow furrowed, her eyes a look of deep thought. Cautiously, she approached the dragon, reaching out to gently touch its cold, hard body, feeling the marks of time. "The textures and carvings seem to hold some ancient code," she whispered, her voice remarkably clear in the silent forest. Her heartbeat quickened, driven by a burning curiosity to unravel this mystery.

The team members also began to survey the surrounding area. They spread out, some holding professional testing equipment, carefully measuring the surrounding geological data, while others carefully observed every footprint and trace on the ground, trying to find any possible useful clues.

"Report, no obvious signs of recent human activity have been found in the surrounding area, nor are there any relevant written records," a team member said. His voice broke the brief silence, but made the atmosphere even more solemn.

Lin Yu folded his arms across his chest, his brow furrowed, lost in thought. "So when was this giant dragon built? And by whom? Its existence must hold special significance." He pondered, his mind swirling with speculation. "Could it be the remains of a mysterious ancient tribe? Or perhaps it conceals some unknown religious ritual?" The more he pondered, the more unfathomable this mystery seemed to him.

Suna walked to the iron gate. It was thick and solid, rusted with stains, as if it had weathered countless years. She carefully felt the surface of the gate, trying to find the mechanism to open it. "Do you think there's some shocking secret hidden behind this iron gate?" Her voice was filled with anticipation and nervousness.

At that moment, the clear sky suddenly became overcast, as if an invisible hand had instantly blocked out the light. A fierce wind howled and swept through, rustling the trees in the forest and swaying their branches wildly in the wind.

"The weather changed so suddenly!" one team member exclaimed, his voice filled with panic as the strong wind threatened to blow him over.

Lin Yu shouted, "Everyone, stay alert! The situation might change!" His voice was firm and powerful, trying to calm everyone down. His eyes were fixed on the changes around him, and his vigilance was at its highest level.

The howling wind nearly staggered everyone. The team members grasped nearby trees and rocks for balance. The iron gate, in the wind, uttered a dull creaking sound, as if speaking something. The voice was deep and distant, like a call from an ancient time, sending a chill down their spines.

Suna nervously grasped Lin Yu's arm, her fingers turning white from the force. "Lin Yu, I have a bad feeling," her voice trembled, her eyes filled with fear. "This is all so strange. Shouldn't we have come here?" She felt a surge of regret and unease.

Lin Yu comforted her, "Don't be afraid, Suna. We'll figure this out." He looked at Suna firmly, trying to instill courage and confidence in her. "We're professional investigators and can't be defeated by fear." Although he was filled with doubts and worries, he knew he had to remain calm and strong at this moment.

The wind gradually died down, and an eerie silence descended upon the surroundings. It was a silence that felt oppressive and unsettling, as if the entire world had been muted.

Suddenly, a faint sound of footsteps came from afar. The footsteps were very light, as if someone was approaching cautiously. But in this quiet valley, they were particularly clear.

"Shh..." Lin Yu signaled everyone to be quiet. He pricked up his ears and listened carefully to the footsteps.

The footsteps were getting closer and closer, and every step seemed to be stepping on everyone's heart, making their heartbeats speed up involuntarily.

"Who... who could this be?" a team member asked tremblingly, his voice full of fear.

Lin Yu made a silent gesture, signaling everyone to be quiet. He gripped his weapon tightly, his eyes fixed on the direction of the footsteps, ready to respond to any possible danger.

Suna's breathing became rapid, and her palms were full of sweat. "Lin Yu, I'm scared..." Her voice was almost inaudible.

Lin Yu gently patted Suna's hand, signaling her not to be afraid.

The footsteps stopped not far from them, and the surroundings fell into a dead silence again. Everyone's nerves were stretched to the limit, as if something terrible would rush out from the darkness at any second.

At this moment, a dark shadow slowly walked out from the woods...
