Chapter 92: The Mystery of the Dark Shadow

Dark Shadows

The dark figure slowly emerged from the woods, like a ghost crawling out of a dark abyss. Everyone's eyes were fixed on it, each filled with vigilance and fear.

Lin Yu raised his weapon and shouted, "Hold! Don't move!" His voice echoed through the silent forest, carrying an undeniable authority. His heartbeat raced, his finger firmly on the trigger, ready to respond to any possible danger. "No matter who you are, don't act rashly!" he muttered to himself.

However, the shadow didn't obey his command and continued to slowly approach. Its figure was blurry in the dim light, and each step seemed to carry a strange rhythm.

As the shadow drew closer, everyone finally saw it: a ragged, haggard old man. His hair was tangled and tangled, like a pile of weeds covering his head. His face was covered in deep wrinkles, and his eyes were hollow and dull, as if he had experienced endless suffering. His clothes were tattered and stained with dirt and blood, which made people wonder what had happened to him in this deep mountain.

The old man's eyes were dull and he kept muttering to himself, "The dragon has awakened, disaster is coming..." His voice was low and hoarse, as if it was squeezed out from the depths of his throat, trembling with despair.

Suna stepped forward and softly asked, "Old man, what do you mean by that?" Her voice was gentle and caring, trying to break the old man's confusion. Her heart was filled with doubts and sympathy, and she wanted to get some answers from the old man.

The old man seemed not to hear her, and continued to repeat the same words. His eyes were wandering, as if he was trapped in a terrible dream and couldn't extricate himself.

Lin Yu signaled the team members not to act rashly. He carefully observed the old man's every move. "Everyone, be careful. This old man may know something important, but he may also be mentally ill." He never took his eyes off the old man, constantly thinking about countermeasures.

At this moment, the old man suddenly grabbed Lin Yu's arm. His strength was so great that his fingers dug deep into Lin Yu's muscles. "You shouldn't have come here. This is a cursed place!" His voice became sharp and shrill, as if issuing a final warning.

Lin Yu soothed him, "Don't get too excited, old man. Speak slowly." He tried to break free from the old man's hand, but was worried about hurting him. "We're here to investigate. Maybe we can help you solve the problem." He tried to keep his voice calm and gentle, hoping to calm the old man.

A trace of fear flashed in the old man's eyes, "You don't know, this dragon is a demon sealed here! Once it wakes up, the world will fall into endless disasters." His body began to tremble, as if he recalled something extremely terrible.

Suna said quickly, "Old man, can you tell us more about this dragon and this seal?" Her eyes were full of eagerness and anticipation.

The old man was silent for a moment, as if trying to sort out his chaotic thoughts. "Long ago, this was a peaceful village. But one day, darkness fell, and a dragon appeared, bringing death and destruction. Finally, a powerful wizard sealed the dragon here, but a curse also followed." His voice was filled with pain and helplessness.

Lin Yu frowned, "Then what's going on with this iron gate?"

The old man glanced at the iron door and said, "That is the key to the seal. It must not be opened, otherwise..." He did not continue speaking, but just kept shaking his head.

"But we must find out the truth." Lin Yu said firmly.

The old man suddenly became agitated, "No, you will kill everyone!" He broke free from Lin Yu's hand, turned around and ran towards the woods.

"Hurry, follow him!" Lin Yu shouted.

The crowd chased the old man through the woods. Branches and thorns scratched their clothes and skin, but they did not stop.

The old man walked through the woods, as if he was very familiar with the terrain.

"Don't run, old man!" Suna shouted.

But the old man seemed not to hear and kept running until he came to the edge of a cliff.

"Don't come over here again!" The old man stood on the edge of the cliff, shaky.

Lin Yu and others stopped and didn't dare to get any closer.

"Old man, please calm down." Lin Yu tried to persuade the old man.

The old man looked into the distance, tears falling from his eyes. "It's too late now, disaster is about to happen..." After saying that, he jumped off the cliff.

Everyone rushed to the edge of the cliff and looked at the bottomless cliff, their hearts filled with shock and grief.

"What on earth is going on?" a team member said in horror.

Lin Yu took a deep breath and said, "No matter what, we must continue investigating and find the truth."

At this moment, a strong wind blew up in the mountains again, as if foreshadowing the coming of a greater crisis...
