Episode 1: Secrets of Bureau 749

Secrets of Bureau 749

Behind the bustling city, in the shadows of skyscrapers, lies a mysterious and understated organization: Bureau 749. Like an iceberg hidden in the depths of the ocean, its true identity and mission remain unknown, and only a select few are afforded a glimpse into its mysteries.

Lin Yu, a recent graduate from a top university, possessed exceptional insight and wisdom. His eyes always gleamed with curiosity and determination, a thirst for exploration. It was an ordinary yet extraordinary day when Lin Yu stumbled upon a forgotten ancient book in a corner of the library. As he gently flipped open the yellowed pages, it was as if fate had been triggered. The strange phenomena and mysterious symbols recorded in the book sparked deep thought. As he immersed himself in the book's contents, a figure quietly appeared behind him.

"Young man, are you interested in these?" a low and magnetic voice came.

Lin Yu looked up and saw a middle-aged man with a serious face but deep eyes. The man's eyes seemed to see through his heart, making Lin Yu feel inexplicably nervous.

"I just think it's very mysterious and I can't help but want to explore it." Lin Yu answered a little awkwardly.

The man smiled slightly and handed him a business card. "If you are really interested, you may come to me."

The business card had only a simple address and a mysterious logo. Curious and a little apprehensive, Lin Yu followed the address and found the place. It was a seemingly ordinary office building, but when he walked through that unassuming door, his life changed forever.

"Welcome to Bureau 749, Lin Yu." He was greeted by a young and beautiful lady with a professional smile on her face, but a mysterious look in her eyes.

Lin Yu was taken into a spacious conference room where several people were sitting. Their eyes were all focused on him, making him feel a little uncomfortable.

"Lin Yu, we have been observing you for some time. Your curiosity, wisdom and courage are exactly what our 749th Bureau needs." An old man sitting at the first seat said slowly.

Thus, Lin Yu was recruited into Bureau 749 without much understanding. New to the scene, he was filled with curiosity and awe. Bureau 749's headquarters, nestled deep beneath the city's surface, resembled a vast, secret fortress. When Lin Yu first stepped into this mysterious space, he was stunned by the sight before him.

In the hall, a huge screen displayed a variety of complex data and images. Staff members were busy operating high-tech equipment. Rays of light flickered between the devices, as if revealing unknown secrets. Walking along the corridor, Lin Yu saw a series of mysterious research rooms. Some rooms were filled with ancient artifacts and mysterious scrolls, while others were filled with advanced scientific instruments and experimental equipment.

Here, Lin Yu met a group of like-minded companions. There was Su Na, a tall, valiant woman skilled in combat and weapon handling, her every movement imbued with power and agility. There was Lao Hu, a scholar in his fifties yet vigorous, whose penetrating eyes held a boundless wisdom of ancient languages and mysticism. And there was Xiao Li, a technical prodigy, a young man constantly wearing headphones and immersed in the digital world, capable of cracking complex codes and electronic systems in an instant.

After a period of training and adaptation, Lin Yu gradually integrated into the team. However, before he had time to fully familiarize himself with everything here, the 749th Bureau received an urgent task.

In an ancient castle on the outskirts of the city, a series of bizarre deaths have occurred. The victims' bodies appear to be in a strange state, as if drained of their vitality by some mysterious force. The residents surrounding the castle are in a state of panic, with rumors spreading, some claiming it's a curse, others the work of a demon. The 749th Bureau has decided to send Lin Yu and his teammates to uncover this mystery.

When Lin Yu and his companions arrived at the castle, the afterglow of the setting sun shone on the ancient walls, adding a gloomy atmosphere to the castle. The castle gate was closed tightly, as if resisting their arrival. Suna walked forward and pushed the door open with force. With a dull sound, a smell of decay hit her face.

"Everyone be careful." Lin Yu reminded.

They walked into the castle cautiously. The hall was filled with a thin layer of dust. Ancient portraits hung on the walls. The eyes of the people in the portraits seemed to follow them as they moved.

"Something doesn't feel right about this place." Suna gripped the weapon tightly in her hand and looked around vigilantly.

Lin Yu nodded, his eyes drawn to the strange symbols carved on the wall. Those symbols looked like an ancient script, but they were different from any script he had ever seen.

Lao Hu walked forward and carefully observed the symbols. "This might be an ancient magic rune. It looks like we're in big trouble."

As they continued deeper into the castle, a pungent smell filled the room, like a mixture of herbs and decaying matter. In one room, Lin Yu discovered an ancient diary. The cover was worn and the paper yellowed, but the words on it were still legible.

Lin Yu gently flipped open the diary, as if unearthing a forgotten chapter of history. The diary, seemingly written by the castle's former owner, detailed its history and its hidden secrets. It turned out that beneath the castle lay a passageway to another world, sealed within it by an evil entity. Years ago, the castle's owner attempted to open the passageway and gain powerful power, but instead unleashed a disaster. Since then, the castle has been cursed, and periodic deaths have plagued it.
