Episode 169: The Mysterious Cave

Mysterious Cave

After Lin Yu and Suna emerged from the tree hole, their exhausted bodies trembled slightly in the breeze. Their clothes were torn by branches and thorns, their faces and hands were covered with tiny scratches, and sweat mixed with dirt made them look disheveled.

The sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting dappled shadows on them. However, they had no time to enjoy this moment of warmth and tranquility, as the road ahead was still full of unknowns and dangers.

After a series of twists and turns, they trudged forward along the winding mountain road. The wildflowers along the road swayed in the wind, as if telling them something. Suddenly, Lin Yu's eyes were drawn to a mountainside. The vines and weeds there were unusually lush, as if hiding some secret.

"Suna, look over there." Lin Yu said, pointing to the mountain wall.

Suna looked in the direction of his finger, and a hint of doubt arose in her heart.

They approached cautiously, and when Lin Yu reached out and pushed aside the lush vines and weeds, a mysterious cave appeared before them.

The entrance of the cave was jagged due to erosion by time, and the surrounding rocks were covered with moss and water droplets. The vines and weeds were like guardians of the cave, trying to prevent outsiders from prying.

"Lin Yu, this cave looks so eerie. Should we go in?" Suna asked hesitantly. Her voice trembled, and her eyes were filled with fear and uneasiness. She stared at the dark entrance, as if she could sense an invisible force preventing her from approaching.

Lin Yu stared at the map in his hand, his brow furrowed. The lines and markings on the map intertwined in his mind, trying to find a clue. After a moment, he raised his head and looked firmly at the cave. "The markings on the map seem to point here. Perhaps there's what we want inside." His voice was firm, but his heart was beating fast.

Suna bit her lip, a conflict brewing within her. On the one hand, she feared the unknown dangers of the cave; on the other, she knew they had to find the answer to the mystery. "Okay, but be careful," she finally nodded, her voice so weak it was almost carried away by the wind.

They cautiously entered the cave. As soon as they entered, a damp, cold breath hit them. It seemed to emanate from millennia of ice, instantly penetrating their bones. The air inside the cave was filled with a stale, decaying smell that felt suffocating.

The torch in Lin Yu's hand swayed in the darkness, and the dancing flame tried hard to illuminate the road ahead. But the light seemed so small and weak in the vast cave, and could only barely illuminate the small area under their feet.

"Lin Yu, I always feel like there's something watching us in here." Su Na followed closely behind Lin Yu, her voice trembling. Her hand unconsciously grasped the corner of Lin Yu's clothes, as if that was her only support in this darkness.

Lin Yu took a deep breath and tried to calm himself. "Don't be afraid, maybe we are too nervous." He comforted her, but his heartbeat was also accelerating involuntarily.

The walls of the cave shimmered with the light of water droplets, as if countless pairs of eyes were peeping at them. The ground was covered with large and small stones and puddles, and they had to be careful with every step they took, for fear of falling.

Suddenly, a strange sound came from deep within the cave. It was like a low roar or heavy breathing, echoing in the cave and making people shudder.

"What's that sound?" Suna's voice was almost crying.

Lin Yu stopped, the light from the torch flickering across his face, revealing his nervous expression. "I don't know, but we have to be careful."

They stood there quietly, listening to the strange sound. The sound was getting closer and closer, as if something was approaching them.

"Lin Yu, I'm scared." Su Na's body trembled even more violently.

Lin Yu clenched the torch in his hand and said, "Don't be afraid, Suna, I'm here." Although his voice was firm, his palms were full of sweat.

Just then, a huge bat flew over their heads, bringing a cool breeze.

"Ah!" Suna screamed.

Lin Yu quickly protected Suna with his hands, "It's just a bat, don't be afraid."

But their heartbeats became faster and faster, as if they could hear each other's heartbeats echoing in the silent cave.

As they continued walking forward, the road became more rugged and uneven. Suddenly, Lin Yu felt his feet soften, as if he had stepped on something.

He looked down and saw a pile of white bones on the ground, which looked particularly eerie under the light of the torch.

"What...what is this?" Suna asked in horror.

Lin Yu's expression became very solemn. "I don't know, but this is definitely not a good sign."

At this moment, the atmosphere in the cave became even more terrifying and oppressive. It seemed that countless dangers were hidden in the darkness, ready to pounce on them at any time.

"Lin Yu, let's go back." Su Na almost begged.

Lin Yu hesitated for a moment and said, "Let's go a little further. If we still don't find anything, we'll go back."

They continued forward with trepidation, each step filled with fear and uneasiness. Suddenly, a fork appeared in the road ahead. Two passages stretched out in the darkness, and no one knew where they led.

"Which way should we go?" Suna asked.

Lin Yu looked at the map in his hand and found that the markings on the map were blurred here. "I'm not sure either. Let's go to the left first."

They walked into the passage on the left, which became narrower and narrower, only allowing one person to pass through. Lin Yu walked in front, and Su Na followed closely behind.

"Lin Yu, I feel like it's difficult to breathe." Suna said.

"We're almost at the exit, just hold on a little longer." Lin Yu comforted.

However, when they reached the end of the passage, they found a stone wall.

"How could this happen?" Lin Yu's heart was filled with despair.

Just when they felt desperate, the strange sound rang out again, clearer and closer than before.

"What on earth is this?" Suna's voice was filled with despair.

Lin Yu turned his head and looked at Suna, "No matter what it is, we have to face it."

They gripped their weapons tightly, ready to face the upcoming unknown danger...
