Ruined Temple
They trudged along the rugged mountain path, their feet a mixture of stone and mud, making every step a risk of slipping. The fog grew thicker around them, a blanket of white silk that enveloped the entire mountain forest, making it almost impossible to see the path ahead. The damp air permeated every corner, seeming to seep into their very bones.
"Everyone, be careful. This road is too difficult," Lin Yu warned. His voice was exceptionally clear in the silent forest, though it also trembled slightly. His forehead was covered in sweat, and his eyes were filled with vigilance. He carefully tested each step, tightly grasping a stick he had picked up from the roadside to push aside the thorns and weeds ahead.
Su Na followed closely behind him, not daring to let up even for a moment. Her breathing was rapid and heavy, and her heart felt like it was about to burst out of her chest. Her eyes were fixed on Lin Yu's back, as if he was her only support in this fog. "Lin Yu, I'm so scared." Her voice was filled with tears, and her hands unconsciously clutched the corners of her clothes tightly.
Lin Yu turned around and gave her a comforting look, "Don't be afraid, Suna, it will be fine soon." But in fact, his own heart was also full of fear and anxiety, but he knew that at this time, he must be strong and must give Suna confidence.
They walked step by step, and the road seemed to have no end. Suddenly, an unknown bird on a branch made a shrill cry, which scared Suna so much that she screamed.
"It's okay, it's just a bird." Lin Yu comforted, but he himself was also frightened by the sudden cry and broke out in a cold sweat.
After a long journey, they finally arrived at a dilapidated temple. The temple's gate was closed, its red paint peeling off, revealing the rotten wood beneath. The roof was covered in moss and weeds, as if it had been forgotten by time.
"Is this the place that can save us? Why does it feel so eerie?" Suna said fearfully. Her eyes fell on the tightly closed door, and an inexplicable fear welled up in her heart. She imagined the unknown danger that might be hidden behind the door, and her body involuntarily took a step back.
Lin Yu walked forward and gently pushed the door. With a creak, the door slowly opened, and a stale smell came in. The smell was mixed with the smell of rotten wood, damp soil, and unknown spices, which made people feel nauseous.
They entered the temple, which was dark, damp, and covered in cobwebs. Faint light filtered through the shabby windows, illuminating only a small area. The temple walls were covered with blurred murals, seemingly telling ancient stories. The ground was covered in thick dust, leaving a clear footprint with every step.
In the center stood a massive statue, its face blurred and unrecognizable. Its body was covered in cracks and stains, as if it had endured countless hardships. Its hands were outstretched, as if it were telling them something.
Suddenly, a cold wind blew from behind, and Suna shuddered. "This place is so strange! Can we really find a way to break it?" Her voice trembled, her eyes filled with fear and doubt.
Lin Yu took a deep breath and tried to calm himself. "No matter what, we have to give it a try." His eyes fell firmly on the statue, and he prayed silently in his heart that he could find a clue.
At this moment, a strange sound came from behind the statue. It sounded like someone whispering, or something moving slowly.
"What's that sound?" Su Na's voice almost screamed. She grabbed Lin Yu's arm tightly, her nails digging deep into his flesh.
Lin Yu's heartbeat accelerated instantly, "Don't be afraid, it might just be the sound of the wind." But he also knew that this explanation was too far-fetched.
They walked slowly toward the back of the statue, each step filled with fear and hesitation. As they approached, the sound became clearer and clearer, as if something was waiting for them.
Lin Yu swallowed his saliva and mustered up the courage to look inside. He saw a dark corner behind the statue, where something seemed to be flickering with a faint light.
"What is that?" Suna asked tremblingly.
Lin Yu didn't answer. He walked over carefully. When he saw the thing clearly, his face turned pale instantly.
In that corner, there was an ancient box, engraved with strange symbols. There was a strange aura around the box, which made people shudder.
"Is this what we are looking for?" Lin Yu said to himself.
Just as he reached out to touch the box, a black hand reached out from the darkness and grabbed his wrist.
"Ah!" Lin Yu let out a scream of horror.
When Suna saw this scene, she collapsed to the ground in fear.
"Who is it? Let me go!" Lin Yu struggled desperately, but the hand was extremely powerful and held him tightly.
At this moment, a gloomy voice came from the darkness, "You shouldn't come here, this is a place of death..."
