The Truth in the Dark
Lin Yu looked at the black hand that grabbed his wrist in horror, and his heart seemed to stop beating instantly. Cold sweat continued to drip from his forehead and across his tense cheeks. He could feel the hand was cold and rough, as if it carried the breath of death.
"Let me go! Who are you?" Lin Yu roared, his voice echoing through the silent and eerie temple, filled with endless fear and anger. He tried to break free from the hand's grip, but it clamped him tightly like an iron clamp, preventing him from moving an inch. His eyes were filled with despair and helplessness, his mind a mess, unsure of what terrible thing would happen next.
The gloomy voice sounded again: "You have touched the taboo, no one can leave alive." The voice seemed to come from the depths of hell, cold and ruthless, and every word was like a sharp sword piercing Lin Yu's heart.
At this moment, Suna regained consciousness from her fear. Her body was still shaking, but seeing Lin Yu in danger, a surge of courage surged from deep within her. She quickly searched the ground and finally found a stick. With trembling hands, she picked up the stick from the ground, closed her eyes, and smashed it at the black hand.
"Ouch!" Heishou groaned in pain and let go of Lin Yu.
Lin Yu took the opportunity to quickly retreat, his steps stumbling and nearly falling. His breathing was rapid and disordered, and his heartbeat was like thunder in his ears. He quickly ran to Suna's side and stood back to back with her and the old man, forming a defensive posture. Their bodies were pressed tightly together, and everyone's heartbeat was as rapid as a drum.
"Come out! Stop playing tricks!" the old man shouted. His voice, though hoarse with age, was filled with authority and anger. His eyes were fixed on the dark corner, and he gripped the dagger even tighter, his knuckles turning white from the force.
At that moment, a figure slowly emerged from the darkness. It was a man with a gaunt face and hollow eyes. His hair hung in disarray, obscuring most of his features. His clothes were tattered, as if he had endured countless hardships. His steps were heavy and slow, each one carrying a deep sense of exhaustion and despair.
"I am the keeper of this temple." The man said in a low voice. His voice seemed to be squeezed out from the depths of his throat, carrying an endless vicissitudes and sadness.
Lin Yu frowned, his eyes filled with confusion and vigilance. "Then why did you attack us?" he asked, his voice trembling.
The temple keeper gave a wry smile, one filled with helplessness and bitterness. "I don't want to hurt you, I just don't want you to be put in greater danger. Tai Sui's power is beyond your reach." A hint of fear flashed in his eyes, as if he were remembering something terrible.
Suna asked anxiously, "Then you must know how to break Tai Sui's curse, right?" Her voice was full of expectation and hope, and her eyes were fixed on the temple keeper.
The temple keeper was silent for a moment, his gaze becoming distant and profound. He slowly said, "There is a way, but it comes at a price." His voice echoed in the temple, carrying a heavy sense of pressure.
"What's the price?" Lin Yu pressed, his voice anxious and nervous. He was torn between two competing beliefs: on the one hand, he longed to find a way to break the curse, but on the other, he worried that the price would be unbearable.
The temple keeper looked up at them. His eyes were filled with a complex mix of sympathy, helplessness, and a hint of hesitation. "I'll have to trade you for your most precious possession." His voice was low and slow, as if every word weighed a thousand pounds.
Lin Yu, Suna and the old man looked at each other and fell into deep thought.
Lin Yu's heart was filled with conflict. He thought of his family and friends. If he could break the curse and save more people, he would pay any price. But he didn't know what was most precious to him: his longing for his family or his longing for the future?
Suna was also struggling internally. She thought about her dreams and love, and those beautiful memories flashed through her mind. She didn't know if she could continue to live if she lost them.
The old man's face was solemn. He had experienced many ups and downs, and knew that every choice could bring unexpected consequences. He pondered what was most precious: his own life, or the faith he had clung to for so many years.
The temple fell into a dead silence, with only the sounds of their heavy breathing and heartbeats. The temple keeper stared at them intently, waiting for their answer.
Lin Yu took a deep breath and broke the silence. "No matter what the cost, as long as it can break Tai Sui's curse and save everyone, I am willing to pay it." His voice was firm and powerful, and his eyes were full of determination.
Suna nodded as well, "Me too. I'm willing to do anything to get everything back to normal."
The old man looked at them, a hint of relief in his eyes. "Well, if that's the case, then let's face it together."
The temple keeper nodded slightly, "Okay, follow me." He turned and walked towards the depths of the temple.
Lin Yu, Suna, and the old man exchanged a glance before following the temple keeper. A mysterious and oppressive atmosphere permeated the temple, and with every step they took, they felt an invisible pressure. The shadows on the walls seemed to dance, mocking their ignorance and recklessness.
They came to a room with a huge stone platform in the center, on which was placed an ancient book.
The temple keeper pointed to the book and said, "This is the method to break the Tai Sui curse, but you must think carefully before opening it."
Lin Yu walked forward and slowly reached out to the book. Just as he was about to touch the book, a sudden gust of wind blew through the room, making it impossible for them to open their eyes.
When the wind died down, they found themselves in a strange place, surrounded by darkness with only a few stars twinkling.
"Where is this?" Suna asked in horror.
The temple keeper's voice rang out in the darkness: "This is the place where your inner heart will be tested. If you cannot pass, you will be trapped here forever."
Lin Yu clenched his fists and said, "No matter what it is, we have to get through it!"
They began to grope forward in the darkness, each step filled with unknowns and dangers...
