Episode 238: Mystery in Worm Valley

Bug Valley Mystery

Lin Yu and Su Na, carefully selected elite members of Bureau 749, shoulder the crucial mission of exploring the mysterious and unknown land of Yunnan Worm Valley. As they set foot in this land, known as a forbidden zone for humans, an ancient and eerie aura enveloped them like an invisible net.

What came into view was a primeval forest stretching for more than 500 kilometers. The dense vegetation was like a vast green ocean, or a long-dormant prehistoric beast, exuding an awe-inspiring aura. The terrain here is as complex as a maze, dotted with canyons and cliffs. Every step you take is like stepping into an unknown trap. Lin Yu tightly gripped the equipment in his hand, his knuckles slightly white from the force, his eyes vigilantly scanning the surroundings like an eagle, and said to Suna in a serious tone: "This place is full of hidden dangers. We must proceed step by step. If we make a mistake, we may fall into an abyss from which there is no return." Suna nodded solemnly, the same caution revealed in her eyes, "Not only that, but there is no signal on the mobile phone, and the compass is completely out of order. We have lost the guidance of modern tools and can only rely on experience and the marks left along the way to grope forward."

They moved forward cautiously. Surrounded by bizarre, ancient trees, the sun seemed blocked by a thick, green curtain, forcing its way through the branches and leaves, casting patches of shimmering light and shadow on the ground, like a shattered dream, adding a touch of eerie atmosphere to the forest. Moss blanketed the tree trunks and the ground like a green carpet, damp and slippery wherever they touched. The twisted branches intertwined like countless strange hands reaching toward the sky, like mysterious ancient totems, creating a scene of strange yet unique beauty.

Suddenly, Suna felt a slight movement beneath her feet, and her heart skipped a beat. Looking down, she saw a colorful, venomous snake, its tongue spitting, slowly swimming by. Its scales shimmered eerily in the dim light, like the scales of a demon. Startled, she instinctively held her breath and whispered quickly to Lin Yu, "Be careful, there's a venomous snake." Lin Yu followed her gaze, his eyes sharp as an eagle's, his muscles tensing like a cheetah about to strike. They retreated slowly, taking each step cautiously, afraid to startle the dangerous creature. Cold sweat broke out on their foreheads, their backs drenched with sweat.

However, this was only the beginning of the horror. This forest was like a mysterious box concealing countless deadly hidden weapons and harbouring many unknown poisonous insects. From time to time, tiny black shadows would dart through the underbrush like ghosts in the darkness. Lin Yu was well aware of the dangers of these poisonous insects; they could carry deadly toxins, and if attacked, the consequences would be disastrous. He lowered his voice and spoke seriously, "These insects might carry deadly toxins. We must be extremely careful and never let them touch us." Suna nodded slightly, a hint of nervousness in her eyes. She followed closely behind Lin Yu, her eyes vigilantly scanning the surrounding grass, not daring to slack off.

As they went deeper, they felt an invisible pressure, like a heavy boulder pressing down on their hearts. There seemed to be a miasma that could cause hallucinations. From time to time, some strange scenes appeared before their eyes. Lin Yu rubbed his eyes, trying to dispel the foggy illusion in front of him. His brows were furrowed, and he said anxiously: "This miasma is too tricky. We must find a way to protect ourselves as soon as possible, otherwise it will be difficult to get out once we lose our way." Suna's eyes also revealed a trace of worry. She looked around, trying to find any possible clues, "But there is fog everywhere here. I don't know where to start."

Just then, the sky suddenly became overcast with dark clouds. Without warning, large raindrops fell, hitting the leaves with a dense, noisy rustling sound, as if the forest were whispering an ancient, terrifying spell. A strong sense of foreboding washed over Lin Yu. He said anxiously, "The rain will make the situation here even worse. We need to find shelter quickly, and we must also be careful of flooding. We must not get swept away." Suna nodded in agreement, and the two quickened their pace, struggling to find shelter in the rain. Rainwater slid down their cheeks, blurring their vision. The ground beneath their feet became incredibly slippery, and they had to be careful with every step, fearing they would fall.

Suddenly, Suna spotted a cave in the rain. Delighted, she pointed and shouted to Lin Yu, "Look, there's a cave over there! Let's take shelter there!" Lin Yu followed her finger and saw the cave's entrance, hidden behind dense vegetation, like a gaping black hole, deep and mysterious. The two hurried toward the cave, their bodies pounded by raindrops, the chill seeping through their clothes and causing them to shiver.

As they entered the cave, a damp, putrid odor assaulted them, like the nauseating smell of millions of corpses rotting in the darkness. A faint mist permeated the cave, making the scene within appear hazy and adding a touch of eerie terror. Lin Yu surveyed his surroundings warily, his heartbeat accelerating as he felt a constant urgency, a sense of eyes watching them from the darkness. "This cave doesn't feel right. We must be extra careful," Lin Yu said in a low voice, his voice echoing through the cavern, as if swallowed by the darkness.

At this moment, a strange sound came from the depths of the cave. It sounded like someone crying softly, or some creature screaming in pain. The sound echoed between the stone walls of the cave, becoming increasingly eerie and gloomy. Suna's face turned pale in an instant. She subconsciously grasped Lin Yu's arm tightly, her fingers trembling slightly due to nervousness, and her eyes revealed deep fear. "What is that sound?" Lin Yu took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. He gently patted Suna's hand and comforted her: "Don't be afraid, let's go over and take a look." Although he tried to keep his tone calm, he couldn't help but feel a chill in his heart.
