Shadows at the Bottom
Lin Yu and Suna had barely recovered from the intense battle against the horde of strange spider creatures when a low, deafening roar from the depths of the canyon grew even louder. It sounded like the tolling of an ancient death knell, like a terrifying beast, slumbering for millennia, slowly awakening from the endless darkness, stalking towards them with heavy steps. The ground beneath their feet trembled violently with the roar, as if an abyss would open up at any moment and swallow them whole. Fine stones rained down from the canyon walls, hitting them and adding to their tension and unease.
"That's quite a commotion! Looks like we're headed for another serious crisis." Lin Yu stared intently at the source of the noise, his eyes filled with alertness and solemnity. His heartbeat quickened involuntarily, and a sense of foreboding washed over him. In this perilous Insect Valley, every new crisis could be fatal. He secretly wondered what unimaginably terrifying existence would emerge this time.
Suna took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. Her lips trembled slightly, but she managed to force out a firm word: "No matter what, we've come this far. We can only face it bravely." However, the reflexive tightening of her grip on her weapon betrayed the tension deep within her. She knew the battle ahead would be extremely difficult, but she also knew that retreat would only put them in greater danger.
As the roar grew closer, a massive black figure slowly emerged from the darkness, like a nightmare crawling out of the abyss. When it fully appeared before the two men, they gasped, a chill running down their spines. It was a pangolin-like creature, as massive as a mountain, its massive body spanning nearly the entire width of the canyon. It possessed six sturdy limbs, each covered in sharp bone spurs that gleamed icy in the dim light, like the sharp blades of a demon. Its head was flat and broad, its enormous eyes emitting a faint green light, like two will-o'-the-wisp flickering in the darkness, exuding an endless eeriness and terror.
"What kind of monster is this?" Lin Yu was deeply shocked. Such a huge and bizarre creature brought him an unprecedented sense of oppression, as if an invisible mountain was pressing down on his heart. His palms were already covered in sweat, and he gripped his weapon tightly, his knuckles turning white from the force.
The monster seemed to sense their presence and let out a deafening roar that echoed through the canyon like thunder, jarring their eardrums. Then, swinging its thick limbs, it rushed towards them like a moving mountain, the ground crunching painfully under its feet.
"Get out of the way!" Lin Yu yelled, grabbing Suna and instinctively leaping in different directions. The monster's charge was too ferocious, crashing headfirst into the canyon wall. Spiderweb-like cracks instantly appeared on the solid stone, as if unable to bear the weight. Then, large chunks of rubble flew out like cannonballs, whistling towards them. Lin Yu and Suna dodged the monster's attacks while also keeping an eye on the flying debris, creating a dangerous situation.
Lin Yu quickly stood up, a flicker of determination in his eyes. He concentrated, unleashing his power. A golden light shot out from his hand like lightning, condensing his strength and determination. Like a sharp blade, it stabbed at the monster. The light struck the monster's scales with unerring accuracy, yet only a few faint sparks were created, as if the light had struck indestructible steel, causing no substantial damage. Lin Yu's heart sank, realizing that the monster before him was no easy foe.
Not to be outdone, Suna quickly summoned her poisonous insects. Like a colorful torrent, they swarmed towards the monster's eyes with a buzzing sound. Their multicolored light shone brightly in the dark canyon, like a ray of hope amidst the darkness. The monster, as if sensing danger, abruptly shut its eyes like a heavy stone door. The poisonous insects could only ping against its hard eyelids, making a faint sound and unable to effectively attack it. Suna's heart was filled with anxiety. She knew she had to find the monster's weakness quickly, or they would be trapped.
"This monster's defense is too strong!" Lin Yu frowned, sweat beading on his forehead. He was extremely anxious, like an ant on a hot pan. Facing such a powerful opponent, conventional attacks would be ineffective. He had to come up with a countermeasure quickly, otherwise they would all die.
While directing the insect, Suna forced herself to calm down and think about countermeasures. "We have to find its weakness. Such a huge body will always have flaws." Her eyes revealed determination and persistence. Despite the dire situation, she was unwilling to give up easily.
At this moment, the monster attacked again. It opened its huge mouth, and a black smoke spewed out of its mouth like a surging tide, spreading towards the two people. The smoke exuded a pungent smell, like the smell of a rotting corpse mixed with venom, which was disgusting. Lin Yu instantly realized the danger and shouted: "No, this smoke is poisonous!" He quickly covered his mouth and nose, held his breath, and stepped back quickly in panic. Suna also immediately cast a witchcraft. She danced her hands quickly, muttered something, and formed a transparent barrier in front of her. The barrier emitted a soft light, trying to block the invasion of the smoke. However, the smoke seemed to have life, constantly hitting the barrier, making a "sizzling" sound. The barrier trembled slightly under the impact of the smoke, as if it would break at any time.
At this critical moment, Lin Yu keenly noticed that as the monster expelled smoke, the scales on its abdomen opened slightly due to the force, revealing a small piece of soft skin. This skin looked particularly fragile against the hard scales. "Suna, there's a flaw in its abdomen. Let's focus our attack there!" Lin Yu shouted at the top of his lungs, his voice echoing throughout the canyon.
