Clues emerge, crisis lurks
Lin Yu and Suna searched the abandoned old house carefully, leaving no corner untouched. Although the mysterious man had disappeared without a trace, they still held on to a glimmer of hope, eager to find clues that could reveal the mysterious man's true identity and purpose. Finally, in a dark corner of the old house, Lin Yu found some fragments of paper. Strange energy fluctuations remained on these fragments, and the symbols engraved on them were very similar to those they had seen the mysterious man use in strange rituals. Lin Yu's heart suddenly tightened. He picked up the fragments carefully, as if holding a rare treasure, and thought to himself: "These fragments may be the key to solving the mystery. After leaving the old house, they knew that to understand the secrets hidden behind the town, they had to start with the townspeople. The next morning, warm sunlight gently shone on the town's ancient cobblestone streets, draping this tranquil place with a golden veil. Lin Yu and Suna walked side by side into the market, which was already bustling with people, the sounds of various vendors intertwined, and the market was bustling with activity. However, Lin Yu and Suna keenly noticed a hint of worry and uneasiness in the eyes of the townspeople, a fear of unknown danger. The appearance of the mysterious man must have plunged the entire town into an invisible panic.
They wandered through the market, scanning the stalls until they finally stopped in front of an elderly man selling herbs. Lin Yu, a gentle smile on his face, politely asked, "Hello, old man. The old man raised his head and regarded them warily, his eyes filled with caution. After a moment, seeing their sincere faces and no ill intentions, he slowly sighed, a hint of reminiscence in his eyes, and said, "Alas, that old house was once the residence of a powerful wizard. I've heard from the older generation that the wizard wielded a terrifying power that could control life and death, as if he could communicate with the underworld. But then, for some unknown reason, his power suddenly spiraled out of control, like a wild horse running wild, bringing a devastating disaster to the town. To protect everyone, the town's ancestors united at all costs and eventually sealed him and his terrifying power. Since then, the old house has remained abandoned."
Suna listened to the old man's story and her heart was moved. She quickly asked, "Do you know how our ancestors sealed him? This may be very important to us."
The old man shook his head helplessly, a trace of regret on his face. "I'm not entirely sure about the specific method. I only vaguely heard that it involved the use of a mysterious treasure. Since then, the town has seemingly returned to peace, but strange rumors still circulate from time to time, leaving people feeling uneasy."
After bidding farewell to the old man, Lin Yu and Suna walked in silence, both lost in thought. Lin Yu frowned and analyzed, "The mysterious man said his power was sealed, and he also mentioned the town's ancestors. Could he be the descendant of that wizard, and come here to seek revenge? If that's the case, then the town is in danger."
Suna nodded in agreement, worry in her eyes. "It's very possible. And the ritual he mentioned might unlock the seal and release that terrifying power. We must find clues to that mysterious treasure as soon as possible. Perhaps that's the only way to stop his conspiracy."
As they were discussing in low voices, they suddenly heard a commotion up ahead. A group of people gathered in front of a sign in the town center, pointing and talking. Lin Yu and Suna exchanged a glance, their curiosity welling up. They quickly squeezed through the crowd to see what was going on. A picture of the mysterious man was taped to the sign, along with a message: "This person is behaving strangely. If you notice anything, please notify the mayor immediately."
It seems that the mayor has also noticed the threat posed by the mysterious man and has begun to mobilize the townspeople to search for him. Lin Yu and Suna think this may be an opportunity, so they decide to visit the mayor to learn more about the mysterious man.
They walked along the town's streets and arrived at the mayor's house. The mayor's house was a simple, quaint mansion, exuding a majestic aura. Lin Yu knocked gently on the door. After a while, the door slowly opened, and a serious-looking middle-aged man appeared at the door. He looked at Lin Yu and Suna sharply, frowned slightly, and asked, "Are you from outside? What do you want from me?"
Lin Yu quickly stated his purpose: "Hello, Mayor. We are also tracking down that mysterious man. We found some clues in the old house that we think may be helpful in solving this matter, so I wanted to tell you in detail."
A flicker of surprise flashed across the mayor's eyes, but he quickly regained his serious expression. He leaned slightly aside and hurriedly invited them into the house for a detailed discussion. "Come in! I hope your clues can help us. This mysterious man has already caused too much unrest in this town."
Entering the house, Lin Yu carefully took out a piece of paper from his arms and handed it to the mayor. The mayor took the fragment, took a look at it, and his face turned pale in an instant. He said in shock, "This... This is a forbidden rune, used to seal the wizard back then. Where did you find it?"
Lin Yu recounted his experiences at the old house, including how he discovered the mysterious man performing strange rituals and the detailed process of his subsequent encounter with him.
