Invitation to the Warehouse
At twelve o'clock in the evening, all was silent. A faint moonlight cast a hazy and eerie veil over the world. Lin Yu led the group to the eerie, dilapidated warehouse. It stood alone on a desolate patch of land, surrounded by overgrown weeds. The night wind rustled the weeds, rubbing against each other and making a rustling sound, like the whispers of countless ghosts hidden in the darkness.
The warehouse looked extremely old, with peeling paint on the walls, revealing mottled rust and rotten wood. The door was closed, as if resisting the intrusion of the outside world, but a faint, flickering light shone through the window next to it. The light seemed so eerie in the darkness, as if it had seeped from another world.
"This place is terrifying," one team member muttered in a trembling voice. His eyes widened with fear and unease, and he involuntarily leaned closer to his companions. "I have a bad feeling. Should we really go in?" His voice was remarkably clear in the still night, as if amplified countless times, breaking the deathly silence.
Lin Yu took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. He stared at the closed door, his heart filled with trepidation, but he knew they had to face this unknown fear. "Now that we're here, there's no reason to retreat," Lin Yu said. His voice was firm, but a hint of nervousness couldn't be concealed.
Su Na clutched the edge of Lin Yu's clothes tightly, her face as pale as paper, her lips trembling slightly. "Lin Yu, I... I'm scared." Her voice was sobbing, tears glistening in her eyes. "What if there's something terrible in there?" Various terrifying scenarios involuntarily surfaced in her mind, and her heartbeat accelerated rapidly.
Lao Chen stood aside, feigning composure, but his clenched fists betrayed his inner fear. "What are you afraid of? We've been through so much together, how could we be frightened by such a small incident?" he shouted, trying to cheer himself and his teammates up. "Everyone, cheer up! We'll definitely figure out what's going on."
Lin Yu looked at the crowd and nodded. "Everyone, be careful and follow me." He stepped forward and gently pushed the warehouse door. The door seemed to weigh a thousand pounds, slowly opening under his push with a chilling creaking sound. The sound was particularly harsh in the silent night, as if the gates of hell were slowly opening.
As they entered the warehouse, a stale smell filled their faces, a mixture of rust, rotting wood, and damp earth. The warehouse was thick with dust, and every step they took sent a cloud of dust dancing in the dim light. The floor was littered with messy footprints and debris, and the walls were covered with cobwebs, as if this place had been forgotten by time.
"Cough cough..." A team member coughed due to being choked by dust, and the sound echoed in the empty warehouse.
Suddenly, a dark shadow flashed past them from behind. The shadow was extremely fast, like a ghost, and disappeared into the dark corner in an instant.
"Who?" Lin Yu shouted alertly, his voice trembling as it echoed in the warehouse. He quickly turned around and shone his flashlight in the direction where the shadow disappeared, but there was only endless darkness.
Everyone's nerves were instantly tense, and fear spread throughout their bodies like an electric current.
"Is...is there a ghost?" a team member said in a trembling voice, his legs weak and he almost collapsed to the ground.
"Don't talk nonsense!" Old Chen scolded, "There are no ghosts in this world! Don't scare yourselves."
Lin Yu took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down. "Don't panic, everyone. Someone might be trying to scare us. Let's be careful and keep going."
They moved forward cautiously, each step filled with fear and vigilance. The atmosphere in the warehouse grew increasingly oppressive, as if a pair of invisible eyes were watching them from the darkness.
"Lin Yu, I don't think we should come here." Suna said in a trembling voice, "It's too dangerous."
Lin Yu held Suna's hand and gave her a comforting look. "Don't be afraid, we will be fine. As long as we find the truth, we can get rid of this."
Just then, they heard a low whimpering sound, which seemed to come from deep underground, full of pain and sorrow.
"What...what is this sound?" a team member asked in horror.
Lin Yu waved his flashlight around, trying to find the source of the sound. "I don't know, but we must find out."
Suddenly, the lights in the warehouse began to flicker, sometimes brighter and sometimes dimmed, creating an even more terrifying atmosphere.
"Oh no, the light seems to be going out!" Old Chen shouted.
Just as the lights were about to go out completely, a pale face appeared before them...
