Chapter 10: Buy a size larger
There was still no power. The candle flame flickered, sending wisps of white smoke drifting silently into the night. I dared not disturb it.
Shen Mengqing led Yu Xin to the bedroom in the dark. In the pitch-black room, there were only soft breathing sounds and the splashing of water from a passionate kiss. Annoying clothes were scattered on the floor, and Yu Xin's black hoodie completely covered Shen Mengqing's silk shirt dress.
She reached out and pressed her hand against Yu Xin's chest, feeling his heartbeat through his warm skin and veins, her senses over his solid chest. Lost in passion, she lowered her head and kissed his Adam's apple, then moved her lips to his beloved eyes. Now, those eyes were filled with the color of desire, the spring water of forbidden fruit melting. She stepped inside, and the water level rose continuously, flowing into her nostrils.
His long eyelashes brushed against her sensitive lips, sending a tingling, electric sensation all the way to her scalp, making Shen Mengqing even more captivated.
Sweat was produced, soaking their hair, which became tightly intertwined, and their breathing gradually synchronized.
They didn't speak, yet they were remarkably in sync. Shen Mengqing's snow-white wrists were wrapped around Yu Xin's shoulders, their fingertips intertwined, her calves slightly curled. With each rise and fall of the tide, she had lost count of how many times Yu Xin had pushed her to the crest of the surging waves, leaving her with no strength, only to be reborn under the repeated washing of the seawater.
She had never had this experience before, and it felt so new to her. Yu Xin seemed to have led her to a completely new world, where she was captivated by every corner.
As night quietly fell, Shen Mengqing drifted off to sleep, exhausted.
Yu Xin kept his eyes open, not sleepy at all. He pulled open the bedside table and took out a pack of cigarettes.
Shen Mengqing seemed to have a strange obsessive-compulsive disorder; she kept all the square-shaped boxes in this cabinet, which Yu Xin noticed when she took out the condom.
The cigarettes were on the bedside table, but the lighter was in the kitchen. It was obvious that she didn't smoke at all. So, were these cigarettes left behind by her ex-boyfriend, or were they for clients she was preparing for work? Yu Xin was too lazy to think about it.
He got up, went to the living room, found a lighter, and took a cigarette between his index and middle fingers to the balcony.
After returning to China, he didn't smoke for a long time because his life was chaotic and there was nothing that could make him clear his head.
This is the first time.
The cigarette butt emitted tiny sparks of light, and surprisingly, cicadas were already chirping in this season, their calls rising and falling in waves.
Yu Xin gazed at the flickering Mars, leaned against the railing, and pondered his impulsive act that night.
...
The next morning, Shen Mengqing slowly woke up. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Yu Xin's handsome sleeping face.
That was really awesome! Jiang Yu was absolutely right!
She reached out and touched Yu Xin's brow bone, following the high bridge of his nose to the tip of his upturned nose. As soon as she stopped, she realized that Yu Xin's eyes were staring straight at her.
Shen Mengqing withdrew his hand and asked, "When did you wake up?"
"just."
Yu Xin's voice was a little hoarse, but quite alluring.
Shen Mengqing suddenly leaned forward, sniffed, and said, "You've been smoking?"
Yu Xin gave a soft "hmm".
She frowned slightly and said, "Don't smoke next time, I don't like it."
"Then why do you still keep cigarettes on your bedside table?" Yu Xin said speechlessly.
Shen Mengqing said, "They're the ones we give to clients when we're discussing business. I don't smoke them myself, so I always forget about them because they're in other places."
"Oh, if I put it with that thing, I won't forget it."
Yu Xin's tone was cold, and Shen Mengqing sensed a hint of sarcasm in it. She glared at him and kicked him under the covers.
Shen Mengqing fell silent again, then got up to change her clothes, preparing to leave for work. Yu Xin glanced at her and asked, "So, so...?"
Shen Mengqing turned to look at him and said, "Oh, how about we get along like this from now on?"
"What?" Yu Xin asked, somewhat bewildered.
"You probably don't really like me that much. I don't want to be in a relationship right now. How about we meet up when we need to? We're both adults, and this kind of relationship is more suitable for us. What do you think?"
Shen Mengqing said with a serious expression.
Yu Xin stared at Shen Mengqing expressionlessly for a while, then stood up, her expression cold and hard, like an ice pick, her eyes sharp enough to pierce through people.
"Yeah, anyway, I don't like you, and I think that's fine."
He then changed the subject, saying, "By the way, throw away that old box on your bedside table and buy a bigger one next time."
Shen Mengqing didn't know what she had done to offend him, but his words sounded somewhat vengeful. She felt a rare flush on her face and silently cursed him in her heart.
That box wasn't new; it was one she'd forgotten to throw away before.
Feeling guilty, she quickly threw the box into the trash can and placed a new order on her phone.

Yu Xin left Shen Mengqing's house, his long legs moving quickly, his face as dark as a storm cloud, looking extremely unapproachable.
He found his car at the entrance of the residential area, opened the door, and got in.
Yu Xin reached for the steering wheel and picked up his phone with his other hand. The screen lit up, revealing more than a dozen missed calls, all from his father, Yu Mocheng, the chairman of Yusheng Pharmaceutical.
He turned off his phone and sped off onto the wide road.
After driving for about twenty minutes, the vehicle slowly entered a high-end villa community in the city center. The community was surrounded by an impenetrable wall made of marble, providing a high degree of privacy.
Yu Xin drove his car, making several turns, into a villa, drove over a huge, neatly trimmed green lawn, parked the car, and got out.
After passing through a huge fountain and climbing a few steps, he pushed open the door. Aunt Chen, the nanny, was wiping the cabinet by the door. When she saw Yu Xin arrive, she greeted him, "You're back. Your dad is waiting for you in the living room."
Yu Xin tucked his hands in, unleashing his roguish charm, and walked towards the living room.
Yu Mochen sat on the sofa drinking tea, occasionally covering his mouth and coughing a few times. His health was indeed getting worse and worse; he could feel it even without the doctor saying it.
Yu Xin stood not far away for a while, and only after Yu Mocheng's cough subsided did he walk over and sit down on the sofa furthest away from Yu Mocheng.
Yu Mochen took a sip of tea, not even glancing at Yu Xin, but his authority remained undiminished. He asked, "Where did you go last night?"
Yu Xin spread her legs and answered simply, "A class reunion."
"I'm asking about after the class reunion." Yu Mochen then looked at him, his eyes revealing neither joy nor anger. "Where did you go after you left halfway through?"
Yu Xin was not surprised that he knew his whereabouts and seemed to be deliberately going against him. His expression suddenly turned cold, and he was not afraid of his pressure at all: "I don't live here. What business is it of yours where I go?"
Yu Mocheng said, "I'll ask you one more time, where did you go?"
"Got off to sleep with women," Yu Xin said with a smile befitting a womanizer. "Are you satisfied now?"
No sooner had Yu Xin finished speaking than Yu Mochen grabbed the ashtray on the table and threw it straight at Yu Xin.
The aim was excellent; it hit Yu Xin's lip, instantly tearing it open and drawing bright red blood, while a bump swelled up. Aunt Chen happened to see this scene when she brought in water. She silently went back to get the first-aid kit, waiting for the father and son to finish arguing before applying medicine to Yu Xin.
Yu Mochen was now completely enraged. All the blood rushed to his head, and he coughed incessantly. After finally calming down, his voice was hoarse. He said in a deep voice, "You didn't listen to a word I said, did you? You must get married as soon as possible. Choose from the blind dates I found for you before, whoever it may be. I think Zhu Lili is quite good. She genuinely likes you, and the Zhu family has a powerful background. If you marry into their family, Yu Sheng will definitely not have any problems."
“I don’t need an arranged marriage,” Yu Xin said firmly.
Yu Mochen took a deep breath and chuckled, "You have no idea how difficult it is for a person to get by without the help of in-laws. I was just like you back then, falling in love at first sight with your mother, who worked as a waitress at a hotel. Your mother was an orphan, and her family was dirt poor. I was blinded by love and married her against my family's wishes. And what happened? You know, we argued constantly shortly after you were born. Your mother divorced me, abandoned you, and moved out. All these years, whether it's taking care of you or running the company, I've been carrying the burden all by myself. You just came back from abroad; how can you secure my position without finding a wife with a powerful family background?"
Yu Xin looked at Yu Mochen, her tone carrying a hint of obsession: "She didn't abandon me. She simply didn't have the ability to raise me back then. Besides, it seems you didn't take care of me much either."
"Then go back to her! She has new children now, see if she still acknowledges you as her son!"
Those closest to you always know how to stab you in the back to hurt you the most. Yu Mochen's words shattered the last wall of defense that Yu Xin had built around himself.
He stood up, no longer willing to listen, and turned his back to Yu Mochen, saying, "Back when we were in school, I heard just as much gossip about our family situation as you did. If you weren't the chairman of Yusheng, if our family were just an ordinary family, would we still be in this situation?"
“I will never touch your disgusting company; it is the root of our family’s suffering. The money in this card is more than you have ever spent on me since I was a child; I will return everything you have given me.”
Yu Xin threw down a bank card, slammed the door, and drove away from the villa.
