Chapter 47 A Violent Solution Compared to Mo Ningzhi, Qin Weijin's joy...
Qin Weijin's brows furrowed briefly before relaxing again. He turned to look at Mo Ningzhi: "...Zhizhi?"
Mo Ningzhi had said several times that he really liked Qin Weijin's voice, and he couldn't help but be distracted by it when they were talking, let alone when Qin Weijin mentioned his affectionate nickname in a gentle and deep voice.
Mo Ningzhi raised her hand and rubbed her ear, not wanting to speak.
He knew that running into Zhou Yaozheng wouldn't lead to anything good.
Moreover, this person was quite adept at crisis avoidance; he left behind an ambiguous statement and then made a hasty retreat. Mo Ningzhi turned around and saw Qin Weijin, Xiao Guo, and Zhang Yuyu all staring at him, "..."
“Ningzhi, you know the president of Huanyue Group?” Zhang Yuyu said, “I met Brother Jin two years ago when he had an endorsement deal with their company. I’ve never forgotten his handsome face.”
Xiao Guo also asked in surprise, "You two must have a very good relationship."
No.
Mo Ningzhi said expressionlessly, "We're just acquaintances, not close friends."
Xiao Guo asked, "Then why did he call you Zhizhi just now?"
Mo Ningzhi's expression turned completely blank: "It's just polite talk between adults."
Zhou Yaozheng's display of intimacy was too abrupt, and Mo Ningzhi's perfunctory response wasn't very convincing. Seeing that Xiao Guo was still going to gossip, Mo Ningzhi patiently answered a few questions, and then their car arrived.
Qin Weijin said something after Zhou Yaozheng left, and then remained silent. Mo Ningzhi couldn't figure out what his mood was, so while they were moving their luggage, he went over to him and asked, "Brother Jin?"
"Hmm?" Qin Weijin's voice still betrayed no emotion.
Mo Ningzhi opened her mouth as if to say something, but then saw Qin Weijin look down at her, his gaze somewhat complicated. He tapped the handle on the suitcase. "Is there anything you want to ask me?"
Qin Wei Jin was very frank: "Yes."
"What?"
"Your nickname is Zhizhi?"
"..."
Mo Ningzhi nodded. "That was my name before I was eight years old. After I turned eight, even my family never called me by my nickname again."
Qin Wei Jin: "Then may I call him?"
"..."
Mo Ningzhi thought about the "Zhizhi" she had just heard, took a breath, and tried to keep a straight face: "No."
Qin Weijin seemed quite interested in his nickname. "Can't I even call him that in private?"
"..."
Mo Ningzhi was surprised that Qin Weijin's curiosity about his relationship with Zhou Yaozheng was not as great as the interest brought by his nickname. But that was fine, he didn't want Qin Weijin to know about the messy relationships in his family anyway.
After waiting for about five minutes, the car arranged by the studio arrived. Mo Ningzhi quickly ended the conversation and followed the navigation to the hotel where the crew was staying. Unexpectedly, she ran into Zhou Yaozheng again at the door.
"What a coincidence." Zhou Yaozheng walked over slowly, his gaze falling on Mo Ningzhi. "If I had known you were staying at this hotel too, perhaps we could have come together."
Mo Ningzhi made no attempt to hide her rejection of him; her emotions were written all over her face. Qin Weijin then said calmly, "I wouldn't dare trouble President Zhou. This hotel is just a temporary stop; we'll be moving out in a few days."
Zhou Yaozheng smiled politely: "I heard you're here to film a movie? I've always been quite interested in the behind-the-scenes work of a film crew. I wonder if there's a chance I can observe it from the sidelines."
Mo Ningzhi slowly frowned, and before Qin Weijin could speak, he said firmly, "No."
Zhou Yaozheng was used to his bad temper and quickly backed down, showing no displeasure on his face: "Really? That's unfortunate. I have something to attend to, so please excuse me."
After saying that, he nodded and walked into the lobby first, while his assistant quickly went to the front desk to check him in.
"Zhou... has he always been like this?" Qin Weijin frowned and asked after Zhou Yaozheng left.
"Why has it always been like this?"
Qin Weijin struggled to find the right words, "He's trying to curry favor with you."
Although it was unpleasant to say, Qin Weijin felt it was very apt. Whenever Zhou Yaozheng approached, Mo Ningzhi would bristle with sharp edges, and her words would become barbed and sarcastic. Zhou Yaozheng was a shrewd businessman, and there was no reason why he wouldn't know how to read people's expressions, yet he repeatedly restrained himself in front of Mo Ningzhi. Mo Ningzhi didn't seem to have any leverage over him either. After thinking it over, only one possibility remained: trying to please or being pleased.
“Then you’re mistaken.” Mo Ningzhi said with certainty, “He just doesn’t want me to have an easy life.”
She just wanted to find more leverage to try and control him, she just wanted to gain more say in the family in the future, and she just wanted to make herself look more like a true member of the Mo family. As for trying to please him, that was absolutely out of the question.
Qin Weijin was somewhat concerned about Zhou Yaozheng's attitude, but Mo Ningzhi was clearly not on the same wavelength. He quickly frowned and then relaxed, his expression returning to normal.
After checking in, the group went straight upstairs.
Zhang Yuyu is a girl and she has a room to herself. Xiao Guo and Mo Ningzhi were originally supposed to share a room, but when the driver Xiao Liu came that night, Mo Ningzhi was assigned to Qin Weijin's room.
Just like at home, the suite has two bedrooms, one for each of them.
Mo Ningzhi took the room key and went upstairs. Xiao Guo and Zhang Yuyu's room was downstairs. The two of them got off the elevator ahead of time.
Before leaving, Zhang Yuyu gave Mo Ningzhi a bag of daily necessities. "I just asked the housekeeping, and the toiletries and aromatherapy in this hotel are not very suitable. Don't use the ones in Jin's room. Let's use the ones we brought ourselves. It will be more reassuring to use them."
Mo Ningzhi paused for a moment, then realized that it must be Qin Weijin's allergen acting up again. He took the bag and held it in his hand, finally realizing how important Zhang Yuyu's health assistant was. "Okay, I'll be careful."
"Then thank you for your trouble, Ningzhi." She stretched and stepped out of the elevator. "After such a long flight, I'm going back to my room to enjoy life."
The elevator was still a few floors away. Mo Ningzhi opened the zipper of her handbag and peeked inside. "You've prepared everything so well. There are even a few boxes of allergy medicine. No wonder you're a nurse."
Qin Weijin's gaze lingered on the medicine boxes for a few seconds, then slowly shifted to Mo Ningzhi's face. He stared blankly for a few seconds before asking, "I don't think I've ever seriously asked you how you knew about my allergies?"
Mo Ningzhi was stunned for a moment: "..."
When I looked up, I met Qin Weijin's gaze. Perhaps because of the bright lighting in the elevator, his gaze seemed very gentle.
Although Mo Ningzhi couldn't explain it, being looked at like that by Qin Weijin, he suddenly lost the courage to be honest. "I guessed."
Qin Weijin nodded, seemingly unsure whether to believe him or not: "Then your guess was quite accurate."
Just then, the elevator stopped on a certain floor, the doors slowly slid open, and a man carrying a tabby cat on his back and leading a large golden retriever on a leash walked in in a grand procession.
This is a pet-friendly hotel, attracting many guests traveling with their pets. This golden retriever is very bold and lively. Seeing that there were still people in the elevator, it happily jumped up and stuck out its tongue. Mo Ningzhi instinctively hid Qin Weijin behind her to prevent the golden retriever from getting closer. Seeing this, the pet owner kicked the dog into a corner.
Once they reached their floor, Mo Ningzhi immediately grabbed Qin Weijin and pulled him out of the elevator. Only after they had walked around two corners did Mo Ningzhi slowly relax. When she turned around, she found that Qin Weijin was actually smiling.
It wasn't very obvious, and it didn't make a sound, but Mo Ningzhi still noticed it.
He let go of her hand, puzzled: "What are you laughing at?"
“You know what?” Qin Weijin paused, then his voice even crackled with laughter, “I’m actually not afraid of cats and dogs. In fact, I quite like these furry creatures.”
Mo Ningzhi paused for a second: "Are you sure?"
Qin Weijin nodded: "If I weren't so busy with work, I would even like to keep a few cats and dogs at home."
Keep a few. That means you really like them.
Mo Ningzhi silently deleted the "fear of cats and dogs" option from her mind and added "likes furry things" to the preferences list, even marking it with an asterisk based on how much she liked it.
"Why do you think I'm afraid of cats and dogs?" Qin Weijin looked at him.
Thinking about it carefully, the answer to this question did not go too far into the realm of what Mo Ningzhi "cannot say". He thought for a moment and said, "I watched your variety show before. You were chased by a dog."
Qin Weijin was stunned for a while before he realized that it was a variety show he had recorded several years ago. He hadn't expected Mo Ningzhi to know him so well. He lowered his head slightly, his gaze falling directly on Mo Ningzhi's face. "That was an accident. I was pranked. My back was stuck with the dog's favorite toy. I ran away to complete the task, not because I was afraid."
At this point, Qin Weijin suddenly stopped.
Mo Ningzhi is the smartest fan. She knows his schedule, takes his photos, and naturally pays attention to the details of his life. Hiding allergens is not an easy thing. If he encounters them on the show, he needs to be very careful to avoid them. These details are scattered in all kinds of shots, big and small. Mo Ningzhi has to spend countless hours to collect them little by little.
Perhaps it was because he had a natural filter of a boyfriend for Mo Ningzhi, Qin Weijin found the way he carefully pieced together Mo Ningzhi's image, picking up bits and pieces here and there, to be very charming.
Unlike the obsessive stalkers, Mo Ningzhi came to protect him. He carefully hid his feelings, never revealing a trace, never intending to confess, and silently took on the responsibility of protecting him. Compared to such vivid and passionate emotions, Qin Weijin's feelings paled in comparison.
Mo Ningzhi suddenly fell silent. Qin Weijin turned his gaze back and found him looking down, staring silently at the soft carpet in the corridor, walking along a dark line at the edge, his profile expressionless.
Qin Weijin suddenly felt a strong urge to pinch his cheek.
But the distance from the corridor to the room wasn't far, and fate didn't give him that chance. He quickly arrived at the room door, took out the room card, and before he could stick it on the door, he heard a beep.
Mo Ningzhi turned his head.
Zhou Yaozheng stood not far away and opened a door with his room card. "What a coincidence, we live so close to each other."
Having encountered this jinx three times in one day, Mo Ningzhi's mood was completely ruined. He tapped the card to open the door, expressionlessly carried his suitcase and Qin Weijin into the house, and then stepped inside to close the door.
"You live together?" Zhou Yaozheng walked over at some point, standing in the doorway with his back to the light, his eyes somewhat dark.
Mo Ningzhi glanced at him while holding the doorknob, "None of your business."
Ignoring the "get lost" look on his face, Zhou Yaozheng stepped forward and said, "Didn't you book any extra rooms? You can have my room?"
Mo Ningzhi sneered: "Zhou Yaozheng, are you sure you want to temporarily cease hostilities with me? I still think you're just as annoying as ever."
Before the door was closed, Zhou Yaozheng peeked through the crack and saw half of Qin Weijin's shoulder behind Mo Ningzhi. This sight seemed to trigger something in him, and he immediately took two steps forward, trying to take the door from Mo Ningzhi, saying, "No, you can't live together."
Mo Ningzhi's face fell, and she thought to herself, "I can't bear it anymore."
The pent-up frustration that had been building up all along finally found an outlet, and without hesitation, Mo Ningzhi pushed, shoved, and hooked Zhou Yaozheng out the door.
