Chapter 130 I Deserve It

Chapter 130 I Deserve It

In the Wei family's old house, Wei Jingzhe was drinking tea and chatting with old lady Wei in the yard.

The aroma of tea filled the air, but Mrs. Wei was full of sorrow.

"Do you really want to take that girl back?"

Wei Jingzhe had rarely been with her in Haicheng these two days. The old lady was originally very happy, but when she heard that Wei Jingzhe had found Li Hualan's daughter and wanted to take her back home, she couldn't help but feel a little worried.

Wei Jingzhe glanced at his mother and poured her some tea. "Now that we've found her, why shouldn't we bring her back? I owed her mother too much back then. Now, no matter what, I must make it up to our daughter."

Because Li Hualan had been unable to give birth to a child, Old Lady Wei had never had a good impression of her former daughter-in-law. In addition, Li Hualan was straightforward and could not please the elders, so Old Lady Wei disliked her even more.

Unexpectedly, this woman gave birth to a child with her son even though he was already married to someone else. Old Mrs. Wei looked down on her even more.

"I can make amends, but I heard you want to give her half of the Wei family's property?"

The old lady was not such an unreasonable person. Even if she disliked Li Hualan, Li Qingqing was her granddaughter after all, and she had no objection to the compensation.

But giving too much would inevitably affect the interests of her beloved grandson, so when she heard that Wei Jingzhe wanted to give half of the Wei family's property to Li Qingqing, she would definitely not agree.

"Qingqing and Qingming are both my children. It's only right for us to divide the property equally. This condition was also proposed by Qingming himself. Her mother did such unforgivable things back then. He must be doing this to atone for her sins."

Old Mrs. Wei disagreed. In her eyes, Li Qingqing was just an outsider. She could acknowledge this granddaughter for the sake of blood relationship, but she was not qualified to share the Wei family's property equally.

"Her mother's sins should be redeemed by herself. What does it have to do with Qingming? Qingming was just soft-hearted and confused for a moment. Anyway, I don't agree to divide the property equally. Isn't this just giving away the family property that I worked so hard to earn into the hands of outsiders?"

The old lady threw the cake in her hand onto the plate with an angry look on her face.

Wei Jingzhe was in a very difficult situation. He was not very good as a husband and father, but he was very filial to his mother. It was naturally difficult for him to do what the old lady said.

"Mom, look at what you said. Qingqing is my daughter, so how can she be an outsider?"

There was no one else here, so the old lady expressed her inner concerns directly.

"I didn't see her grow up, so I don't know where her heart is going."

Wei Jingzhe quickly explained to his mother, "Mom, Qingqing is a very sensible child. I'll bring her to see you someday. Please don't say anything like 'outsider' in front of her. This child has suffered enough these years. You don't even know what she's been through in that family. This is all caused by your own son. I feel sorry for her, even if you don't."

A few days ago, Wei Jingzhe planned to visit Li Qingqing's adoptive parents to express his condolences and thank them for raising Qingqing for so many years, but was stopped by Wei Qingming.

Wei Qingming told him that he had done everything he should have done, and that the family was not good to Li Qingqing, especially after Li Qingqing became an adult, she had basically completely left that family.

After Wei Qingming's detailed explanation, Wei Jingzhe finally understood what kind of life Li Qingqing had been leading outside all these years, and the guilt in his heart grew even deeper.

He wanted to quickly take Li Qingqing back to the Wei family and pamper her, but he was afraid that he would make her uncomfortable if he acted too hastily, so he could only wait quietly in the old house, waiting for the day when Li Qingqing was willing to come to him in person.

After hearing what her son said, Mrs. Wei showed some sympathy, but she still didn't want to give in on the issue of property division.

When the two were in a stalemate, a servant came to report.

"Sir, old lady, there's a girl named Qingqing outside the door. She said you asked her to come."

Wei Jingzhe's teacup fell with a clang onto the solid wood tea table made of small-leaf red sandalwood, spilling tea all over the table.

He was so surprised that his voice changed a little, "Hurry up, go and invite her in."

Wei Jingzhe stood up in a panic and immediately called the servant, "Wait a moment, I'll go myself."

It was rare for Old Mrs. Wei to see her son so flustered and happy, and she couldn't help but get nervous too.

Her granddaughter, who had been wandering around, had come to visit her on her own? The situation was so sudden that Old Lady Wei quickly tidied herself up.

She put down the teacup and couldn't help looking towards the gate of the house. She didn't know how to treat this granddaughter whom she had never met before.

After a while, Wei Jingzhe led Li Qingqing slowly towards this side.

When Old Mrs. Wei glanced over, she immediately saw a very beautiful girl following Wei Jingzhe obediently and softly.

She was dressed simply, in a thin, long cotton coat that looked quite old. She was obviously a good child who was thrifty and managed the household well.

The black hair as black as clouds frames a simple and fair little face, which looks like a white marshmallow, making people happy at first sight.

For some reason, Mrs. Wei's heart softened a little the moment she saw her. Maybe this is what they call the affection between grandparents and grandchildren.

Wei Jingzhe led Li Qingqing into the tea room and introduced her, "This is your grandmother."

Li Qingqing looked up and saw an old lady in luxurious clothes sitting at the tea table looking at her.

"Hello, grandma."

Li Qingqing called out sweetly, her voice soft and sweet, as if to melt people's hearts.

"well."

Old Mrs. Wei responded and couldn't help but look at her.

Wei Jingzhe happily pulled out a chair for Li Qingqing and asked her to sit down.

"Oh, Qingqing, Daddy really didn't expect you to come to see me so soon. It really makes me happy."

Wei Jingzhe poured her tea while giving instructions to the servants.

"Hurry up and prepare dinner. Cook the gooseneck barnacles that were just shipped in yesterday."

Li Qingqing originally wanted to come and sit for a while and then leave. She wanted to tell Wei Jingzhe that she had thought it through and had accepted her identity as his daughter. She would also accept the Wei family's property without hesitation.

"Don't bother. I'll just come over and say a few words to you and then I'll leave."

Wei Jingzhe was very excited. "It's not a trouble, it's not a trouble. It's your first time at home, so why don't you eat? I'll call Qingming back now, and you can chat with your grandma first." As he said that, he went to make a phone call.

Only Mrs. Wei and Li Qingqing were left at the tea table. They looked at each other somewhat awkwardly.

"Tea."

Old Mrs. Wei greeted them.

Li Qingqing picked up the teacup and took a sip.

The old lady was silent for a few seconds, then asked her directly, "What do you think about your father wanting to give you half of the Wei family's property?"

Li Qingqing didn't know what Mrs. Wei thought of her, but she didn't intend to lie to her.

"I feel like I deserve it."
