Chapter 10: Ghost Fire

A cool breeze blew, and a stack of paper money fell from the sky, flying all over the place. Under the dim candlelight, it looked particularly creepy.

"Ah! Will-o'-the-wisp, will-o'-the-wisp..."

"Gong Weiguo couldn't stand Gong Shien's arrogance and bullying of honest people!"

"Gong Weiguo's ghost is back, run!"

Screams were heard, and the people who had been gathered at the door to watch the excitement fled in all directions in fear.

"Mom, Mom..." Zhao Rui clutched Gong Shien tightly in fear, and trembled all over as she looked at the green flames flying all over the room.

"Who is playing tricks?" Gong Shien said with a trembling voice, pretending to be calm.

"Bang!"

Just as Gong Shien finished questioning, the candle beside the coffin suddenly crackled and ignited into a blazing green flame, which was extremely weird.

"Grandpa!" Gong Yu knelt in front of Green Flame at some point and called out to him, as if he had seen something he shouldn't have seen.

When they heard this shout, everyone felt a chill on their necks, and a gloomy aura rose in the room.

"Xiaoyu?"

"Shh~ Dad, Grandpa has something to tell me." Gong Yu put his index finger on his lips and glanced at everyone carefully, as if he was afraid of disturbing the dead.

Seeing Gong Yu acting so mysteriously, Gong Shien was about to reprimand her, but just as he was about to say something, he saw a smile on Gong Yu's green face, which looked particularly mysterious against the backdrop of the green flames.

"Aunt, grandpa is angry with you."

“Nonsense!”

"Bang!" The green flames erupted again, scaring Gong Shien so much that his legs became weak.

"Grandpa said that you wanted to fight for the family property before his body was even cold. He was very sad."

"I don't."

"Bang! Ah--" The green flames were surging, Gong Shien could no longer control his fear and screamed, pulling Zhao Rui to flee in panic.

"Aunt, Grandpa said he would come to see you tonight."

Gong Yu's sinister words reached the ears of Gong Shien and his daughter word by word, like an lingering curse, which frightened them so much that they missed their steps and ran away.

During the escape, Zhao Rui's already dislocated hand was completely broken, and she screamed in pain, which made the fear spread even more.

Gong Yu retracted his sinister gaze, knelt before Gong Weiguo's spirit and burned three incense sticks, silently saying in his heart: Grandpa, please don't blame me!

The green flame jumped and returned to its normal color again.

"Xiao Yu, what's up with these ghost lights?" Gong Shijie is an atheist and doesn't believe in ghosts at all.

"We learned in chemistry class that copper sulfate turns green when burned."

Gong Yu guessed that Gong Shien would definitely bring Zhao Rui to cause trouble, so on the way back she went to the pesticide store to buy copper sulfate. While Gong Shien was having fun, she secretly smeared copper sulfate on the paper money, so that the paper money would emit green flames when burning.

"Well done! My Xiaoyu's homework is great!" Gong Shijie was in a good mood.

"What's good about that? Xiaoyu, how can you joke about your grandfather? It's outrageous." Guo Mei'e lit the kerosene lamp. Although she was condemning Gong Yu, there was a look of approval in her eyes.

In 1988, electricity was still a luxury and most households still used kerosene lamps.

"Hehe! Just this once, there won't be a next time." Gong Yu hugged Guo Mei'e's arm and swayed coquettishly.

The next morning, at the county's northern cemetery.

"Thank you all for coming to my father's funeral today. While all my family and friends are here, I hope that with your presence, my father's estate can be distributed fairly, impartially, and openly, to comfort his soul in heaven."

The old man has just been buried, and they are already fighting over the family property in front of the grave?
