Chapter 18 Welcome Party (XVIII)

Chapter 18 Welcome Party (XVIII)

The man in the flowered shirt lowered his head quietly.

The brick broke into two pieces and fell to the ground with a slight sound.

Mu Yu was breathing rapidly.

The hair was stuck to my forehead because of sweat.

He turned around slowly, and his dark eyes behind the lenses swept towards the corpse in the water tank.

Lu Zhongnian turned the pen in his hand.

Imagine: The tip of this pen is so hard that it can pierce through anything.

He swam towards the flat-headed man.

Everything happened in a few silent seconds.

The blue × on the flat-headed man is hidden on his lower back and can be seen by lifting the corner of his clothes; once it is exposed, the corpse will wake up.

The corpse bounced and its eyeballs rolled mechanically. He pounced towards Lu Chongnian and opened his mouth wildly. Water poured into his mouth and nose, and a series of tiny bubbles were squeezed out due to the biting action.

Lu Zhongnian stretched out his hand.

The corpse's lifeless eyes were covered.

The center of his eyebrows was pierced cleanly by a pen.

Then, the behavior stopped.

The blood spread silently in the water like ink.

Mu Yu closed his eyes.

He tried to calm his breathing, opened his eyes and stroked the frame of his glasses, forcing himself to calm down and look at the two lines of words written by Lu Zhongnian on the wall of the glass jar.

Don’t be angry

[There is no × in the water tank]

...Yes, the monster clearly stated that the water tank was the prop, but there was no X mark on the prop.

Is this why the water tank is so special that it turns into a phantom when attacked?

Only after destroying the monster can they destroy the water tank?

Mu Yu scanned the entire room.

He was very sure that among the props visible to the naked eye, all the props with a blue X had been destroyed by him, but the monster's form was merely in a very unstable state and had not completely disappeared.

What else is missing?

If the water tank wasn't the target prop, what were they missing?

Mu Yu thought quickly, constantly checking everything within his field of vision, while paying close attention to Lu Chongnian's condition.

Lu Chongnian surfaced again to breathe, and this time it took a long time.

...That little bit of air couldn't sustain him for much longer.

It has to be faster, faster.

Mu Yu walked among the props on the ground, his chest heaving violently.

His eyes swept over the pieces of paper, glass, and wood...

Is it because these props were not "destroyed" thoroughly enough?

He suddenly discovered something - there were a lot of lighters among the red × props!

These lighters were scattered in different corners of the room. They had not attracted his attention before when there were so many props, but now their presence was highlighted.

Could this be a clue?!

Mu Yu immediately stepped forward and picked one up.

Do all the debris like paper have to be burned to be considered “destroyed”?

But just as he grabbed a handful of scraps of paper, his movements suddenly stopped.

——No, if all the paper has to be burned to be considered destroyed, then what about the other props?

Is all the wood burned?

What about iron boxes, plastic products, and glass jars?

Is it all going to melt?

Even if he could rely on the fourth rule of the prop area to raise the temperature of the lighter's flame to a level capable of melting metal and glass, if he really relied on this standard to destroy the props, then no matter how much air was left in the water tank or how strong the lung capacity of the person in the water tank was, the other person would not be able to survive!

Because there is simply not enough time!

Mu Yu stood there, motionless.

A thought suddenly flashed through his mind.

...The large number of lighters is definitely not a coincidence.

If this item is not the key to solving the copy, then wouldn’t the real answer be exactly the opposite - the lighter is a false inducement?

Mu Yu suddenly understood!

——If he burned something, would that be his real death?

And what is most likely to be burned?

--Paper!

The key prop is likely to be a paper prop!

He immediately turned around and looked around.

Torn documents, drawing paper with ghostly scribbles on it, scattered playing cards, beautifully bound albums, paper stars, paper cranes...which one is it?

Which one is the prop that actually relates to the monster?

There was a knocking sound coming from the glass jar in the distance.

Lu Zhongnian had already pulled out the oil-brush pen from the flat-headed man's body and was writing the question that had puzzled him since a while ago on the wall of the jar:

[If this water tank is a prop that students in your school would use in real life, what would it be used for? ]

After Lu Zhongnian finished writing, he fell into deep thought again.

He is not a science and engineering student and doesn't know much about science and engineering, so this question is really a bit difficult to think about.

Mu Yu froze.

His eyes reflected the huge glass water tank that could hold a living person. His brain seemed to be pierced by the line of words, and countless information was awakened and integrated in an instant.

A water tank that can hold a person.

props.

Performance.

…Escape magic?

...There was a magician of some fame in their school who had performed on the local Spring Festival Gala a few years ago.

Someone gossiped on a college forum, saying that the guy was very ambitious when he was a student and even wanted to study escape magic.

Unfortunately, he had brought the props from some garbage dump, but he never dared to try any magic tricks. After all, he was just a magic enthusiast at that time and some things were just done as he thought.

Later, the senior continued to grow and made great achievements in magic. Over the years, his favorite props when performing magic were -

Mu Yu's pupils suddenly contracted.

He turned his head and found the pieces of playing cards scattered on the ground in front of him. He rushed over, supported himself on the ground with both hands, and scanned the cards one by one!

Red Spades, King of Spades, King of Diamonds, Clubs——

There's a card missing!

Among the 54 cards, the only missing card is——

Mu Yu suddenly looked up.

Beside the water tank, a dark shadow stood silently.

It has no three-dimensional facial features, only a foggy black shadow.

It is very narrow at the top and bottom and square in the middle, like a weird vase.

Countless thin mists drifted away from its main body, and then gently merged into the cold air flow. Its shape kept changing, but in the change, one could vaguely capture its nearly complete posture at certain moments.

One on the left and one on the right, there are two black vertical lines floating on its side, shaped like two sharp swords.

One sword upwards, one sword downwards.

Those are the upper and lower sides of the sword-wielding monarch.

That's the King of Spades.
