Before Wen Jia could finish her sentence, Ming Qiao raised his hand and covered her mouth.
Shi Xin blinked as he looked at the two of them, a question rising in his mind - this Wen Jia was obviously an acquaintance of Ming Qiao, most likely a former classmate. He could blurt out that he misunderstood their relationship. Does this mean that in his eyes, Ming Qiao might be in love with a man, then Ming Qiao couldn't be?
Mingqiao's expression was a little stiff. He didn't know why Wen Jia was still so careless after all these years. He was still annoying. He quietly leaned closer to Shi Xin to get a little further away from Wen Jia: "Let me introduce you. This is my college roommate, Wen Jia."
"Hello," Wen Jia went over and shook Shi Xin's hand before he stretched out his hand, then shook it excitedly twice: "You are so handsome, how old are you? What do you do?"
Shi Xin felt like he had encountered a legendary social terrorist, and he couldn't help but move closer to Ming Qiao: "I'm 22, and I'm currently working as an intern reporter at the city TV station."
"Not bad, not bad." Wen Jia winked at Mingqiao, making Mingqiao feel embarrassed.
"Why are you dressed like this?" Mingqiao quickly pulled down Wen Jia's hands that were wrapped around Shi Xin: "Do you know what happened in the school recently?"
"By the way, I forgot to talk about business when I saw the handsome guy. I wanted to tell you this." Wen Jia cleared her throat: "I know about the school, and I have passed the restaurant and the playground. Now I am camping in the small supermarket to rest."
"That's not right." Ming Qiao looked at him with a puzzled look on his face: "We also passed the restaurant and the playground, and there was no sign of clearance there. And since you passed the clearance, why didn't you rescue the students inside?"
"What students?" Wen Jia asked back, "I've never seen any students. I was trapped in the restaurant and found that I was blocked by a transparent wall and couldn't get out. I was released after eating a meal. There was also a playground. You saw the red water, right? I rowed a boat to get out."
"...So simple?" Mingqiao's eyes widened and he asked in disbelief.
"Yeah." Wen Jia put her hands in her pajamas pockets: "Anything else? Oh, you're not talking about the diving board in the playground, are you? I didn't use it. Why would I risk using a diving board when I have a boat?"
After Wen Jia finished speaking, she saw Ming Qiao and Shi Xin both had puzzled expressions.
"What's wrong?"
Ming Qiao spoke in a deep voice and explained, "In the restaurant, we were also trapped by the transparent wall at first, but we couldn't get out after dinner. We broke through the maze, killed the robot, and fought wits and courage with the monster on the third floor for a long time before we barely escaped. And in the playground, just like you, we also found red water when we first entered, but we didn't have any boats or springboards, so we worked hard to find the mechanism to open the diving platform in the basement casino, and then we got out with that group of children."
Wen Jia stood up immediately after hearing this. He looked at Ming Qiao, then at Shi Xin who was sitting next to him: "How is it possible? The same place, how can it be different!"
"I want to know too." Ming Qiao looked up and asked him, "Are you just too lucky?"
"What does this have to do with luck?" Wen Jia still hadn't recovered from the shock just now: "But since I met you, you have always been unlucky. In comparison, it's probably my luck."
Mingqiao hung his head and said nothing. He couldn't figure out the reason, but it was definitely not something that could be explained by simple bad luck.
All the dangers he experienced seemed like plain ground in other people's worlds, and he had never even encountered many setbacks.
This is nothing.
"Teacher Ming." Shi Xin put his hand on Ming Qiao's back and comforted him: "Don't think too much."
Mingqiao nodded and asked Wenjia again: "When you came out of the restaurant and the playground, were there really no students inside?"
Wen Jia was a little scared when she saw Ming Qiao's serious expression: "Probably not."
"Maybe?" Mingqiao couldn't help but raise his voice: "Haven't you looked for it?"
"I'm scared myself, let alone saving others." Wen Jia shrank his neck, afraid that Ming Qiao would come and beat him up: "You know, I'm most afraid of ghosts and gods. Tell me, is our school haunted? I heard that this was a graveyard before..."
"Stop talking." Ming Qiao closed his eyes and took a deep breath to suppress his anger before forcing himself to face Wen Jia again: "Why don't you think about it? There must be students in a place like a school. If you can escape by yourself, wouldn't it be good to save a few students?"
"But I'm scared myself, so I'll run as fast as I can." Wen Jia muttered, hesitating and not daring to look at Ming Qiao.
Ming Qiao said angrily: "You are afraid, why don't you think about whether those underage students are afraid? Since you know that you are lucky, you will not encounter any ghosts in the process. If you don't save those students, can you still wait for them to save themselves?"
Wen Jia rolled her eyes at him: "They are all adults, why can't they save themselves? I think you are just meddling in other people's business, more saintly than the Holy Father."
"As a teacher, if you don't even have this sense of responsibility, what kind of teacher are you?"
"You are morally blackmailing me. I don't want to talk to you anymore." Wen Jia seemed really angry. He kicked the stool away, turned around and ran away.
Mingqiao bit her lip, trying not to look like a troublemaker. Maybe Wen Jia was right, he was just meddling in other people's business, using moral blackmail, he couldn't use his own standards to criticize others, everyone's life was theirs, why did he have to be the good guy.
But this argument could not convince Mingqiao himself.
He turned his head and met Shi Xin's eyes: "You didn't finish what you just said."
"I'm not in the mood anymore." Shi Xin stared at his lips, which had turned white with anger. His heart seemed to be stabbed. "I thought you had a good relationship, but you ended up quarreling."
"I often quarreled with him when I was in college." Ming Qiao sighed and said, "But I was able to hold it in at the time and didn't want to argue with him all the time, but in the end, we still had a thorough quarrel after graduation."
"But I think you have a pretty good temper now. You are kind when you should be kind, and fierce when you should be fierce."
"Yeah. Forget it. Let's not talk about him." Ming Qiao stood up and put the stool back on the shelf: "Did you eat enough? Do you want something else?"
"No, I'm still a little hungry." Shi Xin rubbed his stomach and asked, "Did Teacher Ming make something delicious?"
"What do you want to eat?"
"It's all right. You can eat whatever you cook."
Mingqiao found two boxes of self-heating rice in the corner of the bottom shelf, added water to them, and kept them warm with the lid on. He stared at the steam coming out and thought about the fight he had with Wenjia when they graduated.
In fact, it wasn't really a quarrel. It was just Wen Jia venting unilaterally, and then Ming Qiao picked out his faults.
Wen Jia thinks Mingqiao is not suitable to be a teacher because he has put more effort into history than education and is more suitable to be a scholar than a teacher. However, Mingqiao thinks that academic rigor is his advantage in teaching, at least he can bring the most correct knowledge and concepts to students.
After Wen Jia finished his chaotic criticism, Ming Qiao picked up his mistakes and said that Wen Jia was not suitable to be a teacher. He skipped classes and failed courses every day in college. He should not teach his students bad habits.
Then Wen Jia started scolding him for being old-fashioned and boring.
The final conversation ended in nothing. Wen Jia picked up the luggage that had been packed long ago and ran out angrily, not forgetting to slam the door shut.
That was the last time Mingqiao saw Wenjia.
After so many years, Wen Jia hasn't changed.
The steam from the self-heating rice gradually floated in the air and then dissipated. Mingqiao waited for a few more minutes, making sure it was heated before he took it back to find Shi Xin.
Shi Xin was still sitting on the short stool, reading a magazine.
Mingqiao stood there and looked at him.
In fact, it was nice to have someone to talk to at a time like this, and Shi Xin always had a way of making his heart move. Especially when he heard the conversation between Shi Xin and Zhang Wanqiao, he was more certain that he seemed to like Shi Xin as well.
But Mingqiao couldn't figure out what he needed love to provide him, and what he had to pay for this relationship. Putting aside the current difficulties, he was older than Shi Xin and had to be more thoughtful than him. This road was not so easy to walk. If they wanted to be together for a long time, they had to plan carefully.
"The food is here." Mingqiao placed a box of self-heating rice on the magazine Shi Xin was reading and asked casually, "What are you reading?"
"A pure love short story." Shi Xin threw the magazine aside and started eating the rice.
Mingqiao laughed twice: "Does it look good?"
"Not bad." Shi Xin thought of something and stopped eating. He secretly glanced at Ming Qiao, but was caught by him.
Mingqiao has beautiful curved eyes. He is a very pure person. He is what he is inside. He will not say one thing to you and another behind your back. He is very simple and can't hide anything. So his smile now shows that he is in a good mood.
"Teacher Ming."
"Um."
"When do we go into the library?"
"You can't come in."
"Why?" Shi Xin was stunned.
“I remember there was a rule in the teacher’s manual specifically for outsiders: outsiders are not allowed to enter the library, offices, and classrooms.”
After Mingqiao said this, Shi Xin also remembered that when he was on the first floor of the restaurant, the rules for outsiders were broadcast to him once on the radio, and it seemed that there was such a rule.
"I'm not afraid to break the rules. I want to follow you."
"I don't want you to break the rules because the risk is too great. And I've already done enough harm to you by asking you to follow me in to save people." Ming Qiao said, "Based on the conclusion we have reached now, the most important thing in school is to remember your identity and abide by all the rules. Although rules can be broken and identities can be changed, it's better to have less trouble than more."
Shi Xin said with a bitter taste in his mouth: "Do you want to go in alone this time?"
"Yes." Mingqiao nodded: "Wen Jia is definitely unwilling to help me save people, but no matter what, I will find a way to let Wen Jia take Zhang Wanqiao and the others out first. If you want to go with them, go ahead."
