Chapter 21

Without an alarm clock, Wan Qiu opened her eyes at six o'clock sharp in the morning and sat up from the sofa.

He's sleeping on the sofa?

Wanqiu was momentarily dazed before realizing that this morning was different from usual.

Wan Qiu heard the sound of water, looked up, and saw Chu Yigui, half-naked, standing at the sink, washing herself under the running water.

His friend got up very early.

Wan Qiu wakes up at this time to cook for her parents. If Ning Hai and Ning Qiaozhen were home at this time, they would still be sleeping.

"Good morning." Chu Yigui turned around, but because there was no towel in the room, he hadn't wiped the water droplets off his face, which were sliding down his neck.

Wan Qiu noticed that although Chu Yigui was not muscular, he had a very good-looking body, soft and elastic, and very healthy.

"Good morning." Wan Qiu was a little dazed. In his memory, this was the first time he had ever heard someone say good morning to him.

"Did my voice wake you up?" Chu Yigui turned off the tap.

Wan Qiu shook his head: "I usually wake up at this time too."

"I'm a little hot and sweaty," Chu Yigui said to Wan Qiu, turning around. "I need to rinse off the sweat; it makes me feel a bit uncomfortable."

Wan Qiu suddenly realized that there was no air conditioning in his room; only his parents' room had air conditioning.

"I'm sorry, I forgot it's hot in the summer." Wan Qiu never uses air conditioning, so he doesn't remember.

Chu Yigui raised an eyebrow, looking at Wan Qiu, who didn't seem to be sweating much.

Suddenly, I leaned forward and took a sniff. There was no smell of sweat on Wan Qiu's body, only a faint scent of soap, with a unique, cool aroma that was different from the heat.

"Are you someone who doesn't sweat much?" Chu Yigui asked.

“No.” Wan Qiu tilted her head. “I sweat too. I sweated yesterday.”

Wanqiu was covered in sweat from the strenuous up-and-down movement of going up and down the stairs to buy groceries.

However, if Wanqiu stays quietly, he rarely sweats.

Chu Yigui looked at the thin Wan Qiu and suddenly grasped Wan Qiu's hand: "It's so cold."

Wanqiu's fingers were too thin and weak; they felt slightly cool to the touch. The sweltering heat of a summer morning wouldn't cause such cold hands, which was a problem with Wanqiu's constitution.

Wanqiu's health is very poor.

Chu Yigui unconsciously kneaded Wan Qiu's fingers, unable to even feel how much flesh was covered by the bone-like texture under his hand.

Wan Qiu lowered his head and looked at Chu Yigui's hands as well. Chu Yigui's hands were large and beautiful, with slender and long fingers and rounded nails. They were flawless from any angle.

His own hands were completely incomparable to Chu Yigui's.

Wan Qiu shrank her fingers, realizing that her ugly hands shouldn't be placed next to these beautiful hands.

Chu Yigui noticed Wan Qiu's struggle and let Wan Qiu withdraw her hand.

"If you're sleepy, go to your parents' room for a nap. I'll turn on the air conditioning for you," Wan Qiu said.

"Is everything alright?" Chu Yigui had already had enough sleep, but she still asked deliberately.

Wan Qiu didn't know if it was related; he had never thought about sleeping in his parents' room.

However, if his parents don't come back all night, it's unlikely they'll come back during the day. He should be fine as long as he makes his bed properly.

Wan Qiu's hesitation proved that it was obviously not unrelated, but Wan Qiu still nodded: "It's okay."

"Don't go along with me too much. Friends don't have to go to this extent," Chu Yigui refused.

Wan Qiu blinked but didn't answer. He didn't understand just how much his friend could do.

"I'll go make breakfast." Wan Qiu turned around and went into the kitchen.

Chu Yigui casually stretched his body. He had a habit of getting up early every day to exercise, and he was used to getting up at this time. He just didn't expect Wan Qiu to wake up at this time as well.

Wanqiu's so-called breakfast preparation was nothing more than reheating yesterday's leftovers.

The leftovers tasted so good that Wanqiu felt happy. If he could, he really wished his parents would come back and taste these leftovers.

Wanqiu had planned to spend the whole day doing her homework, but she couldn't.

"Don't do these assignments." Chu Yigui closed Wan Qiu's summer homework.

Wan Qiu asked in confusion, "Why?"

“You’re not suited to do these problems right now.” Before going to bed, Chu Yigui carefully reviewed all of Wan Qiu’s homework and found that Wan Qiu hadn’t even understood the questions.

It's like being able to memorize every English word but not being able to put them together to form an accurate meaning. Sometimes, Wanqiu can only recognize the characters but doesn't understand the meaning of many characters together.

Wan Qiu glanced at the homework hesitantly. Did Chu Yigui mean that he was stupid and couldn't do these assignments?

"This is an assignment given by the teacher." Wan Qiu will at least try to finish her summer homework, even if the answers aren't necessarily correct.

"You..." Chu Yigui's voice suddenly stopped.

Wanqiu will definitely go back this summer.

After returning home, he will no longer attend classes like ordinary students. At the Chu family home, he will most likely receive one-on-one special education.

“You will have other, better teachers,” Chu Yigui said. “You don’t need to complete these tasks now.”

Wanqiu didn't understand.

However, since Chu Yigui said no, Wanqiu will comply with Chu Yigui's wishes.

I feel quite energetic today, probably because I ate a lot.

Wanqiu felt that now that he had friends, if they couldn't do homework together, they could play together.

Wanqiu simply lacked experience playing with friends.

At night, you can only choose things to do at home, but during the day you can go out.

What do you usually do when you go out together?

Wanqiu didn't know what he wanted to do, so he could only think based on his memories.

Try to recall what people who pass by you do when you're picking up trash.

Want to drink juice together? Wan Qiu was a little hesitant. He had seen the price of juice and realized that if he was frugal, it could cover his food expenses for three or four days.

But if there's only one cup...

"us……"

"I want to see what you usually do." Before Wan Qiu could finish speaking, Chu Yigui interrupted him.

"Huh?" Wan Qiu blinked in confusion.

"I want to see what you do when you're alone," Chu Yigui suggested, tilting her head. "You can pretend I don't exist."

Wan Qiu didn't quite understand Chu Yigui's request. Chu Yigui's presence here would draw Wan Qiu's attention. How could he pretend that Chu Yigui didn't exist?

Chu Yigui dialed a voice call, put on her headphones, and looked away calmly, as if she would no longer interact with Wan Qiu.

Is he listening to music?

Wan Qiu stared blankly at Chu Yigui, waiting, but he did not receive any further requests from Chu Yigui.

Is it impossible to talk to yourself while listening to music?

Wan Qiu lowered his head, wondering what he usually did.

Wanqiu turned around and looked at the huge room.
