Chapter 12

"Are you familiar with the kid who just came to your store to sell paper cartons and plastic bottles?" Unexpectedly, the man asked the boss a strange question.

The boss was confused and asked why he suddenly asked the child?

"I'm not familiar with him, he's just a kid who often comes here to sell scrap." The boss said truthfully.

The man casually looked around the store and said calmly, as if he was having a normal conversation: "You are not a scrap collector, so why did you buy that child's scrap?"

The boss looked at the people in front of him suspiciously: "Who are you?"

"Please rest assured, we are not human traffickers, and we have no intention of harming anyone. We just want to know some things." The man took out his mobile phone and scanned the payment interface. When he heard the payment information of 500 yuan arriving into the account, the boss was also stunned.

If he was a human trafficker, he wouldn't charge five hundred just for asking questions.

The boss thought about it and, given the child's condition, felt that it might be better for him to be kidnapped by human traffickers than to be in his current situation.

"I'm really not familiar with him. I only know him among his entire family. He and I live in the same residential complex. I closed the store and went home that day. It was late at night and I didn't want to cook, so I bought a pancake on the way. He was crying at the door of the building at that time, saying he was hungry, so I gave him the pancake."

As the boss spoke, he stole a glance at the man in front of him and saw that he had a frown on his face. The extremely beautiful woman who had been listening to the noise not far away had red eyes and looked... very angry?

"Anyway, his family rarely comes home, and there's nothing to eat at home, so he runs out by himself. I can see him every now and then. I can't always feed other people's children. What should I do if he gets sick from eating too much and his parents come to me? I tell him to go pick up waste and then come to me. I'll give him money and he can buy food by himself. But I give him the money directly according to the purchase price, without taking any commission!"

The boss saw that the man in front of him was very popular, well-dressed, and looked like he had some connection with him.

"I don't know about the rest. The child doesn't talk much and seems to be a bit mentally handicapped. When he first started picking up trash, he picked up everything. Now he knows what he can and cannot pick up."

The man looked unhappy, as if he was a little sad and lonely, and then he just smiled appropriately: "Thank you for helping the child, really, thank you very much."

The man said this while operating something on his phone.

The boss felt a little embarrassed. It was rare to be thanked so sincerely. This kind of upbringing was truly unusual.

Sure enough, he has some connection with that kid, the boss thought.

"Well, we'll leave first. Thank you." The man came to the woman, put his arm around her shoulders and left. At the same time, the boss suddenly heard the account arrival information. He suddenly heard that a sum of 30,000 yuan had arrived. He immediately took out his mobile phone and saw that it was the same account that had just transferred 500 yuan.

"Fuck...it turns out that doing good things really can bring good rewards in this world?" The boss was shocked beyond words.

Outside the bustling vegetable market, Yang Xiaoyu leaned on Chu Jianshu's shoulder.

She bit her lips tightly and endured the sob in her throat.

Chu Yigui, who had heard the whole thing, turned his attention back to Wan Qiu's thin back.

Thin, short, and malnourished.

The tattered cart in Wan Qiu's hand had only three wheels that could not support the entire board. A stone was tied to one corner as a footrest, and it made an unpleasant sound when it rubbed against the ground.

The broken little cart was trying its best to find proof that it still had value.

Wan Qiu really felt sorry for his little cart, so he hid it carefully before going home.

The dilapidated old building looked relatively solid, but the interior was a mess.

The old corridor door does not serve any defensive purpose. There is no clean area on the corridor wall. There is a mess of dust and exposed wires. The air is filled with mold and the stench of garbage that residents have left at the door without throwing away.

Chu Yigui looked up and saw Wan Qiu observing the garbage, examining it carefully.

But there seemed to be no garbage worth picking up. Chu Yigui didn't need to see Wan Qiu opening the garbage, so he couldn't say whether it was lucky or unfortunate.

When Wan Qiu opened the door of his house, the dark corridor was illuminated by the light from the room, and he felt suddenly enlightened.

Chu Yigui was a little surprised.

The house is very clean.

Although there was a faint smell of alcohol in the air and the walls were yellow from smoking, the overall situation was in good order.

Chu Yigui couldn't imagine Wan Qiu's 'parents' doing housework.

"The house is very clean. Did you clean it all? That's amazing." Chu Yigui asked suggestively.

Wan Qiu turned around and looked at Chu Yigui, bewildered.

Is it a great thing to be able to clean the house?

"I do all the housework. Mom and Dad need to make money," said Wan Qiu.

"Making money, what kind of money do they make? Can they make enough money to make my son unable to even eat and have to pick up trash?! How old is he? How old is he? He is still in school and still growing..." Yang Xiaoyu's angry voice kept coming from the headphones.

Wan Qiu washed his hands with a small piece of soap that was obviously disposable for hotels, and asked Chu Yigui to wash with him.

The scent of the soap was too plain and it felt very cheap, and there were a lot of used pieces that I couldn't bear to throw away, so I kept them in the soap box.

Although the whole house was cleaned, it was badly damaged and traces of furniture being knocked over could be seen everywhere.

"Can I look around?" Chu Yigui asked.

"Yes." Wan Qiu did not refuse.

The house was simple, with two bedrooms, a living room and a bathroom. The smallest room was so small that Chu Yigui could almost take up most of the space when he stood in it. It was small but tidy.

Wan Qiu's textbooks were neatly arranged on the table.

There were summer homework assignments on the desk. Chu Yigui flipped through a few pages and raised his eyebrows.

The homework is very neat, and you can tell that it was written carefully and attentively. Every word was written carefully and effortfully, but it's not very beautiful.

Looking at the date, I am writing according to the amount of homework required every day, but...

Chu Yigui looked at the homework of different subjects in succession, and the accuracy rate was terribly low.

Chu Yigui was too lazy to even look at the questions in the fifth grade summer homework, but Wan Qiu was writing down the wrong answers on every page carefully.
