Chapter 6

Wan Qiu stood at the door of the barbecue restaurant, biting the bread in his hand. Just by standing there, the owner knew what he was going to do.

Wan Qiu did not go into the store, but waited outside, eating bread in big mouthfuls, chewing it carefully and thoroughly, and enjoying it very much.

"Hey, kid."

There was a voice nearby, but Wan Qiu didn't think it was someone calling him. He continued to take a bite of bread, his cheeks puffed up from eating, and stared at the barbecue restaurant eagerly.

"Kid." Suddenly a yellow-haired man stood in front of Wan Qiu. Wan Qiu was forced to look at the man and chewed the bread more slowly. The man said, "Do you remember me?"

Wan Qiu nodded and remembered the kind person who sent him to the hospital.

"Aren't you thirsty after eating bread?" asked the yellow-haired man.

Wan Qiu nodded again. He was a little thirsty, but he could drink water when he got back.

"This is for you." The yellow-haired man held bottles of milk tea in his hands.

Wan Qiu took the milk tea doubtfully. The milk tea was warm, and as he shook his hand, it seemed to take away some of the cold summer night breeze.

The yellow-haired man opened the bottle cap with Wan Qiu's hand and said, "Drink."

Wan Qiu glanced at the blond man, then started drinking the milk tea. As the silky and sweet taste entered his mouth, Wan Qiu felt as if he had discovered a new world.

The yellow-haired man twitched his lips: "Are you really..." He was not on guard at all and drank whatever was given to him.

The yellow-haired man almost suspected that the child was a human trafficker and could follow him on his own.

Gulp, gurgle, gurgle...

The yellow-haired man looked at Wan Qiu eagerly and was a little surprised that he didn't stop. Is he so thirsty?

However, when he saw Wan Qiu had almost finished half the bottle, the yellow-haired man couldn't help but said, "Stop, stop, stop, stop. It's not like I won't let you drink anymore. Do you really have to drink it all in one go?"

Wan Qiu held the bottle and burped.

The yellow-haired man looked up and saw his companion standing not far away.

"Are you hungry?" asked the yellow-haired man.

Wan Qiu hesitated for a moment and shook his head.

"If you're hungry, uncle will take you inside to eat." The yellow-haired man pointed to the shop behind him, "Want to eat?"

However, Wan Qiu still shook his head.

"Are you full?" The yellow-haired man looked down at the bread bag in Wan Qiu's hand, which was almost empty.

This time Wan Qiu nodded.

"Just this much?" The blond man was speechless. Is this the amount of food a growing boy should eat?

Wan Qiu opened his mouth and snorted: "I'm full."

"Who are you? Why are you surrounding someone else's child?" The barbecue restaurant owner looked at them suspiciously while holding a bag of barbecue.

"Friend." said the yellow-haired man.

The owner of the barbecue restaurant frowned and lowered his head to ask Wan Qiu: "Do you know him?"

Wan Qiu hesitated for two seconds and nodded.

"Your father's friend?" The owner of the barbecue shop didn't ask any more questions after hearing that he knew him. If he had stayed for two more seconds, he would have realized that Wan Qiu didn't admit it this time. He would have directly stuffed the barbecue into Wan Qiu's hand and said, "Go back quickly. If you come back too late, your father will beat you again."

The yellow-haired man's expression suddenly twisted for a moment, but he finally revealed a weird expression of trying to smile: "I'll take you back."

"Thank you." Wan Qiu said.

The yellow-haired man looked at it and suddenly smiled: "Okay, you are quite good at accepting help."

Although the yellow-haired man joked, he still pulled Wan Qiu's small cart, and even asked for a rope to pull it because he was a little short.

Wan Qiu followed the two tall men back the same way. Although they had just met today, Wan Qiu's attitude towards them was neither strange nor familiar. He was quiet as if he had been with them from the beginning.

Wan Qiu finished the remaining bites of bread and drank the milk tea, holding the bottle preciously.

The yellow-haired man wanted to buy some food for Wan Qiu, but the kid said he was full and didn't seem to be lying, so he was afraid that if he bought him some, it would end up costing Ning Hai money.

"Kid, you'll be able to enjoy life soon." The yellow-haired man chatted with Wan Qiu, "Say goodbye to this shitty life."

Wan Qiu did not answer, as if he understood what the yellow-haired man said. The yellow-haired man was hit on the shoulder by his companion, asking him to speak less.

“My life is not shit.” However, Wan Qiu suddenly said, “My life is very good.”

"Have you never had a good life?" The yellow-haired man was hit by his companion again, but when he thought about what he just said, he felt a weird feeling...

"I'm living a good life." Wan Qiu said stubbornly.

Could it be that this child really thinks that he is living a good life now? The yellow-haired man scratched his hair again and again, feeling uncomfortable.

The yellow-haired man took out a business card from his pocket and gave it to Wan Qiu: "My phone number is on it. If you need anything, just call me."

Wan Qiu looked at the simple business card and said, "I don't have a phone number."

"Then keep it." said the yellow-haired man.

"Oh." Wan Qiu put the business card in his pocket.

The man looked at this scene and frowned, feeling that Wan Qiu... seemed to be the type who was easily obedient?

When he got downstairs, Wan Qiu rolled up his sleeves and was about to pick up the beer, revealing the snow-white gauze that he had just bandaged today, but was stopped by two people.

"Okay, the fourth floor, right?" the man said.

When the three cases of beer were brought to the door of the fourth floor, the two men turned around to leave, but the blond man was suddenly grabbed by his clothes.

The tiny force was not enough to stop the yellow-haired man, but it made him stop.

Wan Qiu loosened his grip on the man's sleeve and raised his head: "Thank you."

When they finally got back to the car, the blond man was still a little dazed. God knows he thought the stupid kid was actually very cute when he was thanked.

"He has no money to pay us, and you still left him a business card?" the man said to his companion with a smile.

"You'll be the boss's son in the future, so this little money won't be a small amount of money?" The yellow-haired man said stubbornly, but he leaned against the window and yawned, "I just think that I have to take care of it. There's nothing else to it."

In the middle of the night, a group of men went back to their homes. The drunk Ning Qiaozhen and Ning Hai fell asleep after tossing and turning. Wan Qiu came out of the room again, closed the door of his parents' bedroom, and began to clean up the mess on the table.

If I don’t clean up, my mother will be in a bad mood when she wakes up tomorrow morning and sees the messy room.

There are still a lot of leftovers on the table. Wan Qiu will leave as much as possible. Even if it is soup mixed with rice, it will taste good.

Seeing the remaining food, Wan Qiu crushed some minced meat with his fingers and put it in his mouth.

tasty.

The food still tasted good even though it was cold.

Keep these, I can't bear to throw them away.

Probably because I ate bread and drank milk tea today, my body was replenished with energy and I felt more comfortable than usual. When I stood up, I kicked a bottle beside me with too much force. Several bottles fell to the ground in succession, making crisp collision sounds.

Wan Qiu froze in place.

Heavy and impatient footsteps were heard coming from his parents' room. The bedroom door was opened, and at that moment Wan Qiu's breath stopped.

"What the hell are you doing so late at night!" Ning Hai was a light sleeper and was still drunk. He saw Wan Qiu standing among a pile of things with the lights on.

Wan Qiu's voice was not loud, revealing a hint of timidity in the silent night: "I'm cleaning up."

"What the hell are you cleaning up!" Ning Hai would be more irritable than usual after drinking, and his voice rose. Wan Qiu knew what this meant, "If you dare to make a sound and disturb my sleep again, I will make you pay."

There was a sound of wind passing by, and Wan Qiu curled up subconsciously.

The pain was like a blooming flower, with waves spreading out layer by layer.

Wanqiu was crawling on the ground, with stars twinkling in front of his eyes, some black and some white.

Wan Qiu suppressed his breathing and listened carefully to the sound of Ning Hai returning to the room and lying down.

From rustling sounds to loud snoring.

Wan Qiu got up and continued to tidy up the messy living room, gently and carefully, as if his movements did not even exist.
