Chapter 18: Fairness

Chapter 18: Fairness

◎Oh, then I have no friends.◎

When Ji Nan called Zhong Jiajing for the first time, she was sleeping soundly with her head covered in the quilt.

"Brother, if there is anything, can we talk later?"

Her voice was muffled, and she looked like she hadn't woken up yet.

Ji Nan was stunned for a while when listening to her confused voice that sounded like a spoiled child, and then he silently swallowed back the words that he was about to say.

"Well, go back to sleep." He softened his voice and responded stiffly.

The clock hanging on the wall was pointing to half past eight at this moment. Ji Nan forgot that not everyone was like him and would be woken up by the howling of the puppy alarm clock at seven o'clock every day.

He stared at the three semi-trailer trucks neatly packed with food, then at the neatly packed luggage in the living room, muttering to himself, "Guess I'll have to move later."

As a result, the call back lasted until eleven o'clock.

"Ji Nan, can you please send them over after two o'clock?" Zhong Jiajing said shyly and refused to talk about her oversleeping in the morning.

Ji Nan sneered, "That's understandable. After all, it's time for a nap after lunch. That's how little pigs are."

"Let me make a wish to God. I hope the piglet will be awake by two o'clock. Otherwise, it would be a bit rude for the butcher to come into the pen with a knife, right?" He added very tactlessly.

Zhong Jiajing: “…”

Zhong Jiajing's teeth have been much better these days. She made an appointment with Ren Jiang to have lunch today, just in time to repay a favor she owed him a few days ago.

She and Ren Jiang both loved to chat, and they talked about everything for a long time, and the meal lasted until after one o'clock.

Seeing that it was getting late, Zhong Jiajing politely declined Ren Jiang's invitation to watch a movie in the afternoon and planned to leave first.

Ren Jiang didn't force it, but just insisted that she must be sent home.

When there was only one intersection left to the community entrance, Zhong Jiajing received a message from Ji Nan.

[Which one is your home? ]

Seeing that God had finally shown mercy to her, Zhong Jiajing couldn't wait to repay him in the same way he had treated her.

"Didn't you have your eye on my apartment before? How come you don't even remember its exact location?"

[Alas, it's understandable that you tend to forget things.]

Ji Nan could even imagine what kind of expression and tone she used when she said this. He was frustrated and finally became honest for once.

[Hmm, I don't remember. Please come down and pick me up.]

Zhong Jiajing was in a very good mood, and even her tone of reply was obviously smiling, "Wait a minute, I'll be there right away."

Ren Jiang heard her reply and asked curiously, "Did you make a date?"

As soon as he finished speaking, the official answer jumped into his eyes.

Ji Nan stood by the car, with his children and grandchildren around him.

Ren Jiang suddenly had a subtle idea. He took the initiative to get out of the car to open the passenger door for Zhong Jiajing, and considerately handed her the cardigan that was on the back of the chair.

When he turned around and saw Ji Nan, he pretended to be surprised and said, "Ah, Boss Ji is here too, what a coincidence."

"Oh, no, I suddenly remembered that Boss Ji also lives here. But this community is so big, it's still a coincidence that we meet." He continued.

Ji Nan had a blank expression on his face. "Unfortunately, it's obvious. I came here specifically to look for Zhong Jiajing."

Ren Jiang raised the corner of his mouth and smiled slightly, "I'm really sorry, we just had such a happy chat, did I delay your time a bit?"

"A little bit," Ji Nan said without mercy, "but it's still not too late to say goodbye to you now."

This is clearly an excuse to drive people away.

Ren Jiang had never seen such a straightforward man in his life. Even if he wanted to blame the man's low emotional intelligence, he couldn't convince himself. His strong male intuition told him that the other party was very likely to have some hostility towards him.

Before he could figure out how to speak like a winner, Zhong Jiajing stepped forward at the right time.

"Ji Nan, it's not even two o'clock yet, why are you in such a hurry?"

"Besides, even if I'm late, it's my own fault. Why do you treat Ren Jiang like this?"

Ji Nan's dark eyes dimmed a little. He kept his mouth shut and said nothing. He just lowered his head and stared at the kittens and puppies, not knowing what he was thinking.

Zhong Jiajing breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that he didn't insist on taking the upper hand like he did before.

She smiled and said to Ren Jiang, "Sorry to bother you. Ji Nan and I have something to do. Let's stop here for today. Can we meet again when we are free?"

Ren Jiang nodded, glanced at Ji Nan who was behaving strangely, then got into the car and left.

After Zhong Jiajing waved goodbye to her friends, she turned around and met Ji Nan's staring eyes, which looked like both a wolf and a sheep.

"You have so many friends." He said in an ambiguous tone.

Zhong Jiajing was confused, "Don't you have any friends?"

Ji Nan pointed at her and said, "Yes, aren't you my best friend?"

"Me?" Zhong Jiajing pointed at herself in disbelief, then at the lazy babies lying on the ground. "But what I said yesterday was just a joke. It was all for them."

Ji Nan certainly knew that it was just talk, but he had his own ideas.

He shrugged and said nonchalantly, "Oh, then I have no friends."

Although he looked calm on the surface, he must have been secretly crying in his heart.

Zhong Jiajing was so upset that she had to get out of bed in the middle of the night to give herself a big fight, and kept cursing herself for being so damn stupid.

She was a little at a loss. "Ahaha, I was just joking. You said the streets are full of dogs, why should I walk yours? It's because we are good friends, right?"

"If you say so, then so be it. After all, I've never had any friends, so I have no idea how friends get along with each other." He seemed to believe it, but also seemed to doubt it. "It's just that it's a little different from what I thought. I thought friends were the kind who often go out together, just like you and Ren Jiang."

Zhong Jiajing really believed his true face. After all, he was so sharp-tongued that it was very likely that he couldn't make friends.

When she was thinking about how to give him a sense of security in the future, Ji Nan interrupted her thoughts by handing her three ropes.

"You lead the way, I'll carry all the things over."

Zhong Jiajing's jaw dropped when she saw the full trunk. "No, are you moving your entire family here?"

"It's okay," Ji Nan said, "I didn't take any big items, so it's a bit troublesome."

It took three full trips to move everything. Zhong Jiajing, holding the cat, looked at the room with no place to step and couldn't help but sigh: "Looking at it this way, it might be more appropriate for me to move into your nanny's room."

Zhong Jiajing's house is not big, and the one-bedroom house does not have a separate living room.

Ji Nan stood by the door and had a panoramic view. He said, "Next time I'll upload a job posting on BOSS, even if your major isn't relevant, I'll still take a look at your resume."

Zhong Jiajing had no intention of continuing the confrontation with him. She paced back and forth in the room, thinking about how to place these treasures.

Ji Nan put all the parts back in place according to her idea, and Zhong Jiajing suddenly thought of an important question.

"But what if I can't go home at noon?"

She remembered that Ji Nan would always come home at noon every day without fail.

Ji Nan drank the water she handed him and said, "The feeder will feed the specified amount of food at a fixed time. It's okay even if you don't come back. Just remember to lock the doors and windows before you go out."

Zhong Jiajing nodded and said, "Then I'll buy a home camera later. If anything goes wrong, I'll be able to notice it immediately."

"Okay." Ji Nan nodded, "But I'll make the contact."

He didn't give Zhong Jiajing a chance to refuse. He just raised his hand and made a phone call. He didn't leave until the installation was completed.

The nest of the three little cuties was placed near the small balcony, and Zhong Jiajing could see it while lying on the bed.

At night, when the dogs were all snoring, Zhong Jiajing saw a green light coming towards her from the corner.

Even though she kept telling herself it was just a cat, she was obviously startled.

Worried about disturbing the sleep of the other two dogs, she didn't turn on the lights and carried Dongdong to the bed in the dark.

"Are you the legendary night owl?" She muttered while rocking the cat.

She coaxed the cat for a long time but it didn't fall asleep, so she raised her hand to ask Ji Nan the reason, but found that it was already one o'clock in the middle of the night, so she had to give up.

I slid into his circle of friends and scrolled forward, and suddenly realized that he had lied to me - it was not that he had no friends, but that he had friends all over the world.

She suddenly thought of the pet shop owner, her partner Ye Tan, and all the employees in her company, big and small. Who wouldn't say hello to him when they met him?

Haha, I should have realized earlier that Ji Nan is not someone who will suffer losses.

Her eyes went dark, and she cursed Ji Nan a hundred times before she felt relieved.

Zhong Jiajing reluctantly got out of bed at 7:05 after Duoduo and Zhong Heiya lifted her quilt three times.

Although she set her alarm clock for work at seven o'clock, she always stayed up for ten or twenty minutes before getting up, otherwise she wouldn't be so rushed to work on time every day.

After she had settled her furry children, she caught the subway in plenty of time.

When she had some free time in the afternoon, she ran downstairs to find Ji Nan and told him that Dongdong didn't sleep at night.

Ji Nan nodded. "Dongdong might be a little shy. I'll give you my pillow tonight. It should be better if you put it in his nest."

"No need to bother," Zhong Jiajing waved her hand. "I'll go home with you after get off work. I can pick it up on the way, so you don't have to run back and forth."

"What! What! What did I hear?" Xiaobai, who had just come over to take over, was shocked. "I just slept for one night, and you two have already developed to this point without me seeing?"

"Not only that, you'll find our store is growing even faster." Ji Nan's expression was grim. "If you just look up, you'll notice there are several more ingredients to memorize."

Xiaobai was in disbelief when she saw three new items clearly displayed on the menu above her head. She had only taken three days off to go home, so how could the world have changed so much?

"I feel so sorry for you. Your little brain has to be stuffed with so many things. Try to get more sleep. When the world gets better, I will save money and take you to have brain capacity expansion surgery." He said compassionately.

Zhong Jiajing also nodded. "But Bingbingchajiang, now that you have a new brain, remember not to let so many random thoughts fill it with your imagination. Otherwise, even Hua Tuo wouldn't be able to save you."

It's true that two different people can't sleep in the same bed! Xiaobai crawled to Weibo like a groundhog and roared.

[Change their brains! I'm going to give both the male and female protagonists stupid brains! I'm also going to make the male protagonist's mouth mute! Make it mute! No one will ever have a good life!]

After get off work, Zhong Jiajing followed Ji Nan back home.

She didn't plan to go in, but just stood at the door waiting.

Ji Nan turned around and looked at her, "Come in for a cup of coffee?"

For a moment, Zhong Jiajing was almost bewitched by this vixen, but her sense of belief pulled her back in time.

"Isn't it bad? After all, there are differences between men and women." She hesitated.

Ji Nan lowered his head and looked at her. "What's wrong with that? I entered your home. To be fair, you should also enter mine."
