Chapter 84: Meeting the Buddhas

Venerable Fusheng smiled and nodded, then gestured to Zhou Zhilu to come over and talk.

Zhou Zhilu hesitated for a moment, took a deep breath and walked over slowly.

"Your Excellency, I wonder why you are looking for me?"

Looking closely, I saw that although this venerable monk looked quite ordinary, he was extremely friendly, and his eyes were full of gentleness and calmness.

"What do you think Buddhism is?"

Zhou Zhilu was stunned. Was this the final question right off the bat? So profound?

In addition, he was still at Lingshan, the most core place in the Buddhist world, outside the 33rd floor Main Hall, so Zhou Zhilu really didn't want to talk more about this topic.

But intimidated by the pressure from Venerable Fusheng, he thought for a moment and said, drawing on his understanding from his past life:

"I think Buddhism is a kind of education, a kind of idealism, emphasizing self-cultivation, teaching people to believe in cause and effect, to know themselves, to have great compassion without any conditions, and to have great compassion throughout their bodies."

Venerable Fusheng looked at Zhou Zhilu in surprise and said with a smile, "I never thought that you have such an understanding of Buddhism."

Zhou Zhilu smiled awkwardly and said, "It's just my humble opinion."

Venerable Fusheng sighed and said, "If everyone in the world had your understanding, our Buddhist sect would be spared a lot of trouble."

Zhou Zhilu didn't quite understand what kind of disturbance Venerable Fusheng was referring to, but he vaguely felt that perhaps this was the purpose of what he and the Buddhist disciples were doing.

I then asked, "Why do you say that, Venerable? I heard that you have a new Buddhist teaching. Could it be related to this?"

Venerable Fusheng did not answer Zhou Zhilu directly, but said slowly: "The Buddhist world has existed for too long, and there are too many disciples.

"There are so many that I can no longer tell who these disciples are in the secular world, and why they entered my Buddhist sect. Many have committed sins, and after coming to my Buddhist world and having their hair and beards shaved, they feel that their sins have been washed away.

"Are they doing it for the Buddha? No, they are doing it for themselves.

"Many Buddhist disciples are scattered throughout the world, sharing their Buddhist teachings with others using their limited vision and limited knowledge.

"Among them, there are also some who are unlearned, indulgent, and pursue fame and fortune. They do not respect good friends, do not study the scriptures, and do not observe the Vinaya, thus spreading polluted Buddhism in the world."

Immediately, Venerable Fusheng looked at Zhou Zhilu and said, "The new Dharma I seek is never intended to change the Dharma itself, but rather the concept of how to deal with the world.

"Those people...shouldn't exist."
