The next morning, Qi Changzhou came out and saw Shan Song in the living room, browsing the news and eating breakfast.
After scanning the room and not seeing Tong Zhao, and noticing Shan Song's refreshed expression, Qi Changzhou's lips twitched. He decided to avoid this opportunity to show off and instead take the initiative:
"I called Qi Yan here today. Weren't you just going to discuss the clarification and public statement with him?"
Dan Song lifted his eyelids: "You actually went and bothered that young couple?"
"What do you mean 'bother'? If he were happily cuddling with his wife, I'd only bother him. But he's still causing trouble, and his wife is practically going to be taken away by him. He's my brother, after all, so I can't just ignore it. This is a good opportunity for him to learn from you how to coax his wife and save his precarious marriage."
As he spoke, Qi Changzhou swaggered down at the dining table, grabbed a plate, and gulped down the food.
Shan Song asked, "Are you still talking about divorce?"
Qi Changzhou took a sip of soy milk to smooth his mouth and nodded: "I don't know what this brat did this time. My sister-in-law can't stand it anymore. If he insists, this marriage will be over sooner or later."
Shan Song frowned: "If Luan Yining wanted a divorce, she would have done so long ago. Why is she only saying it now?"
“Sigh! How should I put it…” Qi Changzhou sighed: “You know, when they got married, our family unanimously believed that they still had feelings for each other, otherwise, given my mother’s personality, she would have forced Qi Yan to divorce him long ago.”
“They used to have a small argument every three days and a big argument every five days. Although it was all one-sided, impotent rage from Qi Yan, we could all see that Yi Ning was quite tolerant of him. At most, it was just a lovers’ quarrel, so we didn’t dare to get involved too much.”
"But this time is different."
Shan Song: "Is the conflict serious?"
Qi Changzhou nodded helplessly: "Yi Ning is very insistent and hasn't said what the reason is. When I asked Qi Yan, that kid refused to say anything. He just insists on not leaving, and we've been at an impasse. I secretly hope to give him some more time to make up for it, but I can't disregard his wishes, can I?"
Even Qi Changzhou, the eldest brother, didn't know the inside story, so Shan Songguang was even more confused. He had only had emotional exchanges with Tong Zhao, so he couldn't analyze anything. If he insisted on saying something, he would inevitably mislead others.
Qi Changzhou was just trying his luck: "Let him see how you and your sister-in-law usually get along. Maybe it will give him some inspiration. If not, it might be good to provoke him."
Shan Song laughed: "You really are worrying yourself sick."
"Absolutely." Qi Changzhou wiped his mouth, feeling energized after finishing his hot breakfast. "Let's go to the company!"
"etc."
"Waiting for what?" Qi Changzhou asked, puzzled.
"Wait for my wife."
Qi Changzhou was even more puzzled: "Is your sister-in-law coming with us?"
Dan Song glanced at him: "Otherwise what?"
Qi Changzhou looked at Shan Song's lower body with suspicion.
"Stop having those filthy thoughts."
"I have reasonable doubts."
Shan Song rolled his eyes at him: "You can go to the company first."
"Have some shame, Mr. Shan."
"Then go drive. Have some common sense," Shan Song teased him before heading upstairs.
"..."
Tong Zhao had already woken up, and seeing that Shan Song wasn't beside him, he assumed that the man hadn't woken him up again.
But there was no note by the bedside. Tong Zhao was wondering when Shan Song pushed the door open and came in from the outside.
Tong Zhao asked in surprise, "You didn't leave?"
"Didn't my wife remind me to wait for you last night?" Shan Song walked over and sat down on the edge of the bed. "How's your back?"
Tong Zhao's face flushed: "It's alright."
"It seems Zhao Zhao quite likes this position."
"?" Is it something you like?
Dan Song rubbed his hands a couple of times: "Do you want to get up?"
Tong Zhao nodded, glancing at the time on Shan Song's watch: "Oh! It's so late."
He scrambled to his feet, looking rather unsteady, and rushed into the bathroom.
Dan Song followed behind him with a smile and reminded him, "No need to rush, it's our own company, we won't deduct your salary if you're late."
But arriving a minute late means earning less money, and Tong Zhao, deeply embodying the mindset of a money-grubber, quickly got himself ready: "Let's go."
"Go have breakfast."
"You can eat it on the way."
Dan Song was both amused and exasperated: "It's not like I'm sending you to school. You can eat at home first and then go."
"All right."
After lunch, the three of them finally set off and arrived at the company just in time.
Qi Changzhou sped all the way to his destination, and upon arrival, he remarked, "If only all bosses were like me—"
Shan Song continued, "Then the employee should get a good boss who works from nine to five and never works overtime."
"Go to hell with you, aren't you ashamed to say that?"
Qi Yan arrived earlier than the other three and had already been led to the lounge. He hung his head and looked dejected.
"They probably had another argument this morning," Qi Changzhou and Shan Song analyzed.
Tong Zhao had already heard the two of them talk about Qi Yan and Luan Yining's relationship issues again along the way. With his years of exposure to melodramatic scripts... well, actually, he couldn't offer any constructive advice.
But if it's just for Qi Yan's reference, then it's fine.
"Big brother." Qi Yan stood up and greeted them when he saw them arrive: "Song-ge, sister-in-law."
Shan Song rarely exchanged pleasantries with the Qi family. After exchanging greetings, he didn't make any special mention of anything, simply assigned tasks, and then threw himself into the mountain of work at the company.
Tong Zhao was assigned relatively basic tasks, the kind that could be handled by simply looking up information, and occasionally she would help the three of them summarize the documents that had already been processed.
Seeing that Shan Song and the others were making rapid progress, flipping through documents at lightning speed, Tong Zhao felt more and more that he was just a mood-maker with limited help. It seemed that Shan Song was just giving him some work to appease him.
Tong Zhao wasn't discouraged. It wasn't her area of expertise anyway, so as long as she didn't make any mistakes that would only make things worse, that was good enough.
If you don't know something, just look it up yourself. In order to be thorough, Tong Zhao looked up everything that wasn't 100% certain. Apart from being a little inefficient, there wasn't anything seriously wrong with it, and he also learned a lot of professional terms.
Shan Song occasionally glanced at him, but seeing that his wife was so busy that she didn't care about him at all, he chuckled, shook his head, got up, poured a few glasses of water, and brought them over.
Tong Zhao was startled by the soft sound of the water glass being placed on the table: "I'll go pour it."
"It's just pouring a glass of water." Shan Song patted his head. "You can ask me if you don't understand."
Tong Zhao waved his hand: "You go ahead with your work, these are minor issues for me, you can look them up yourself, I'm afraid of interrupting your train of thought."
"How can you not even have time to teach your wife?" Shan Song wrapped his arms around him from behind: "What don't you understand?"
"..." Tong Zhao glanced at the newly opened document and pursed her lips.
Dan Song understood, which means that none of them really understood.
Fortunately, his wife took three hours to read through the document, checking each word carefully; it was his oversight.
"It's my fault." Shan Song reached for the computer and a pen beside her: "Husband, I'll show you how to watch it once."
Tong Zhao hesitated for a moment.
"Just consider it a rest," Shan Song said with a smile.
Tong Zhao nodded this time and said softly, "Mark some important points for me, so I can refer to them."
Dan Song nodded and began to tutor his wife, starting from the basics and gradually increasing the level of understanding.
Qi Yan stared at the two heads huddled together for a long time, until the warm water beside him had cooled down, before finally shifting his gaze away slightly.
Qi Changzhou spoke up from the side: "So, did you learn anything?"
"..."
