Chapter 48 Audition

Before leaving, Tong Zhao finally learned what Shan Song had prepared for him. Looking at the gleaming black van parked at the door, he asked in a daze, "You didn't just buy that, did you?"

Can the procedures be completed this quickly?

"Ask Qi Changzhou to get it from his brother. Qi Yan has experience running an entertainment company and said that celebrities often use this for travel. Try it out and see if it's comfortable. There's also a custom-made RV on the way, for you to use when you go to the film set later."

Dan Song placed his palm on Tong Zhao's back to give him support, and put his other hand on the car door. After Tong Zhao was seated, he said softly, "Take a nap on the way. Don't be too nervous. Message me when you get back."

"Okay." Tong Zhao glanced at the row of family members who were still waving and peeking around at the villa entrance, using Shan Song's body as cover, and leaned down to whisper in his ear: "Let Uncle Xu and the others go back, it's too much!"

"You didn't have to be so formal when you went out before, did you? Besides, it's just an audition, and we're not even sure if we'll get the role." Tong Zhao was afraid of disappointing them, so she whispered to Shan Song, "There are so many people, I might not be chosen."

"That means their production team has no vision. Stop doubting yourself and blame others more. Our Zhaozhao will succeed sooner or later." Shan Song grabbed the soft hair at the back of his head and rubbed it, then pecked a kiss on his lips.

Today, Tong Zhao had done a simple makeover and put on makeup. Her lips had a touch of glossy red, which made her face look even more radiant. Shan Song looked at her with satisfaction for a while, then leaned close to her cheek and teased her with a smile, "Keep it up, big star. I'm still waiting for my wife to support me."

Tong Zhao's attention was successfully diverted by him, and she put down her burden. She gave him a light push, seemingly annoyed, and said, "I'm leaving now. You should go eat too."

Dan Song stepped back with his force, still smiling, mouthing "Go for it!" as she closed the door for him.

Tong Zhao looked through the car window until Shan Song was out of sight before turning back to look at the audition script in her hand.

The role he auditioned for was the protagonist's deceased white moonlight, a supporting character who only appeared in flashbacks. Although he didn't have many scenes, he still had some weight to his part, making it a rare positive role he had ever played.

If he performs well, he might improve the audience's impression of him as a slutty and cheap woman. Tong Zhao pursed his lips, but he still felt that it would be difficult for people to accept it. Not to mention the audience, in his experience, this kind of role would usually be rejected by the casting director.

If it weren't for the casting assistant director having worked with him twice and discovering that he wasn't as morally corrupt as rumored, he might not have even had a chance to audition. Tong Zhao was even afraid of being stood up by an excuse, otherwise he wouldn't have gone so early.

I wonder if it will pass the approval of the other crew members...

It's not that he lacks confidence in himself; if it were a manipulative male supporting character, he feels he'd have an 80% chance of success, but with his true love, it's only a 40% chance...

"Young Master Zhao, you can adjust the seat to rest for a while. The journey will take more than an hour." Wen Wen packed her things and put some essential items, such as water cups, in a place that was easy for Tong Zhao to reach.

"Ah, okay."

Seeing that Tong Zhao was still clutching the script, Wen Wen leaned back in the front seat and handed her her phone with a smile: "Young Master instructed that if Young Master Zhao is still holding the script and not letting go after twenty minutes of getting in the car, what we said before will be null and void."

? !

Tong Zhao's eyes widened as she took the screen and glanced at it; it was exactly the same as what Xiao Wen had relayed.

"..."

A few seconds later, the other end sent another message: 【Good girl~ We're all prepared, a little longer in the car won't make a difference.】

"How can you be so sure he'll feel anxious sitting in the car?" Tong Zhao complained as she obediently adjusted the seat with Wen Wen's help, then lay down with a blanket.

Flattening the backrest was indeed much more comfortable, and Uncle Tie drove fast and steadily, so Tong Zhao soon became drowsy.

The audition was held at a hotel in a neighboring city. Tong Zhao slept for a while and felt refreshed. She waited in the car for about two hours before finally entering the hotel.

The appointment was for 10:30 a.m. After meeting with the assistant director, Tong Zhao went to the waiting area next to the conference room. There were quite a few actors in the waiting area, some of whom had teamed up to rehearse. Many familiar faces were also there, and they made some hushed noises when they saw him come in.

Wen Wen heard a few unpleasant words and her eyes suddenly turned sharp as she glared over, but Tong Zhao pulled her back: "Xiao Wen."

Ignoring their unfriendly stares, Tong Zhao led Xiao Wen to a corner to sit down.

Xiaowen's expression had improved, and she asked considerately, "Does Zhaozhao need to rehearse her lines?"

"Then can you help me go over my lines?"

After waiting for about ten minutes, Tong Zhao received the message and stood up: "Then I'll go in first, Xiao Wen, you wait for me outside."

"Keep it up," Wenwen encouraged him.

Tong Zhao took a deep breath, pushed open the conference room door, introduced herself, and then, as requested by the assistant director, practiced a few impromptu reactions before rehearsing her lines according to the prepared script.

His co-star wasn't the assistant director he was familiar with, but a serious middle-aged omega who recited his lines without any expression. Tong Zhao's palms were sweating nervously, but his voice remained steady as he controlled his emotions and finished the scene.

After the last line of dialogue was spoken, no one in the room uttered a word. Tong Zhao glanced furtively at the director's expression and felt a chill run down her spine.

After a long silence, the director, his brow furrowed, handed over a piece of paper: "Try this one."

There's still a chance. Tong Zhao secretly breathed a sigh of relief, stepped closer to take it, and maintained her professionalism by controlling the urge to twitch her lips. Another villainous cannon fodder role...

The assistant director next to him pursed his lips and, taking advantage of the moment he turned around, gave him a helpless look.

After the audition, the director was visibly more satisfied: "Very good. Your delivery of lines, facial expressions, and emotional delivery are all excellent. That's good enough. Go back and wait for our notification."

As expected, Tong Zhao bowed and said, "Thank you, Director."

As they were leaving, the assistant director also came out to call the next actor and exchanged a few words with Tong Zhao.

Xu Fei: "I originally thought I could help you broaden your acting range, but the director still wants to play it safe, which is normal. Don't be discouraged. At least for now, this role is not a big problem, and it will be finalized this afternoon."

Tong Zhao smiled shyly: "Thank you, Brother Fei. I don't ask for much, as long as I have a role to play."

"I truly admire your attitude." Xu Fei smiled and shook his head. "I heard you got married?"

"Okay." Tong Zhao had already put the ring back on after taking it off. "It won't be made public for now."

"Then I won't ask any more questions. See you on set."

"See you on set." Tong Zhao waved her hand, somewhat touched by his casual attitude.

Xu Fei was one of the few people in his circle who could be trusted to speak up. He was a very straightforward person who couldn't tolerate any injustice. Although he disliked Tong Zhao at first, he still spoke up for Tong Zhao when Tong Zhao was being bullied by others.

After realizing it was a misunderstanding, he even went out of his way to apologize to Tong Zhao. Later, when rumors of him being kept by a sugar daddy surfaced, he was the first person to show kindness to him.

Tong Zhao said it was impossible not to be moved that someone was now considering his acting roles.

"Oh, by the way, that omega lady was a producer. It's quite a coincidence that she came here today. Maybe your acting skills will catch her eye, and then you won't have to worry about roles." Xu Fei took a few steps and suddenly turned around to say.

Tong Zhao was stunned for a moment: "Huh? That really means you had to be incredibly lucky."

Xu Fei smiled and said, "That's hard to say."
