Chapter 23 A Gift for Zhao Zhao

Yuan Yamin's dress is a deep blue with an island theme. Since the wedding is in the evening, she used bead embroidery to create a dazzling galaxy that looks like it has fallen into the sea, using materials with different luster. You can imagine how dazzling it would be when the lights shine on it.

The double-breasted design, peak lapel, and single-strap blouse, combined with his superior height, further enhanced his presence.

Tong Zhao stared blankly. He was wearing a double-breasted vest made of the same material as Shan Song, and was carrying the overcoat he was about to change into. He just stood there, watching Shan Song finish adjusting his collar and cuffs, and Shan Song walked right over without him coming back to his senses.

Dan Song lightly tapped his brow: "Why haven't you changed yet?"

As he spoke, he took the coat that Tong Zhao had been holding for half a day and put it on him.

Tong Zhao's dress has some differences from Dan Song's in terms of details, such as the collar and buttons. The design takes into account Tong Zhao's own temperament while maintaining the balance between the two.

Dan Song's palm slid down the side of the clothes, and he squatted down to smooth out the well-tailored fabric.

As his hand slid down to the waistline, the perfect curve of the palm against his skin made Shan Song's eyes darken slightly. He straightened up, concealing the expression in his eyes, and took a step back, carefully looking Tong Zhao up and down a few times, his eyes full of satisfaction: "It suits you very well, handsome young man."

Tong Zhao was a little unaccustomed to such constraints, but he also saw his outfit in the mirror and had to admit that it suited him much better than the whole wardrobe the Qin family had bought for him.

Looking at Shan Song beside him, well, they did seem to be a good match. A slight smile appeared on his lips, then widened. He turned his face away and said, "You're even more handsome."

Dan Song raised an eyebrow slightly, neither agreeing nor disagreeing with his words.

"Are you two done yet? Can I come in?" Aunt Yuan's voice came from the outer room, breaking the blushing and excited atmosphere between the two.

"Alright," Shan Song replied, withdrawing his gaze from Tong Zhao's face.

"Not bad, you really are a clothes hanger, you could even look good in a burlap sack." Yuan Yamin's eyes lit up as soon as she entered the room, and she quickly walked over to the two of them with a soft measuring tape in her hand: "Come on, stand still and let me see."

"Perfect! Absolutely perfect!" Yuan Yamin measured them from all angles, and finally patted the two of them on the shoulder: "Very good, no need to change it! It saves a step. I'll add some accessories for you, and you don't need to worry about the rest."

"Thank you, Aunt Yuan."

"You're welcome. Since you're wearing it, go out and show it to Grandma and the others. They probably won't be able to attend the wedding, so let's make them happy in advance."

Tong Zhao nodded and looked up at Shan Song.

Dan Song understood and took his hand: "Let's go, let's treat this as a mini wedding in advance."

The two walked slowly behind Yuan Yamin. Suddenly, Shan Song thought of something and whispered to Tong Zhao, "Grandma will probably give you a gift later. Just accept it and don't refuse."

A gift for meeting someone? Tong Zhao stopped in his tracks, stiffly turning to look at Shan Song. Oh no, he had no idea about this. He hadn't planned to prepare a gift for meeting someone when he came. What should he do?

Noticing Tong Zhao's sudden panic, Shan Song was puzzled for a moment before suddenly realizing that these common social customs had never been taught to this child over the years. At least he had his grandmother and Aunt Yuan, but Tong Zhao had to figure things out on his own as he grew up.

A wave of heartache washed over him. Shan Song reached out and cupped Tong Zhao's still dejected face in his hands: "Don't worry, I brought you here, how could I not know? I sent a gift to the Shan family before we came, what's mine is yours."

"But……"

Shan Song gently interrupted him by extending an index finger: "This meeting was only arranged temporarily due to circumstances. Your grandparents came to see you, so your presence is enough. We'll prepare gifts together when we take you back to the Shan family home later."

Under Shan Song's reassurance, Tong Zhao's tense body gradually relaxed: "Then you have to remind me next time. I don't understand these things, and it wouldn't be good if Grandma and the others misunderstood that I was neglecting them."

"No, they're not the kind of people who care about these things." Shan Song patted his back: "I'll teach you later if you don't understand. There are also a few of my nephews and nieces in the collateral branches of the Shan family. They'll need you, their uncle, to give them red envelopes. They're not easy to fool, and your wallet will be bleeding out."

His tone was relaxed, and he could easily dispel the unspeakable bitterness in Tong Zhao's heart with just a few words.

Tong Zhao smiled slightly and said, "Okay."

"We've already agreed on the money," Shan Song smiled and said, "I'll pack the bags for them, you can pay for them. You can keep your own little stash."

Tong Zhao's mind raced for a moment, and she realized that he looked down on her meager savings. She gave an "Oh" in a low voice, but a hint of a smile appeared in her eyes.

This time the expression is much more vivid.

Dan Song lowered his eyes and stared for two seconds before giving a serious suggestion: "It looks better when you smile. You should smile more. Children shouldn't have a long face. If your grandma and grandpa see you like that, they'll say I'm bullying you."

Tong Zhao's eyes curved even more sharply at the corners: "Okay."

When the two came out in their formal attire, Tong Zhao, at Shan Song's prompting, deliberately put her arm around Shan Song's arm, as if she were really walking down a wedding aisle, step by step, to the two elders.

Aunt Yuan thoughtfully prepared fresh tea. Shan Song took it and handed it to Tong Zhao, gesturing with his eyes for him to offer tea together as agreed.

"Grandma, please have some tea."

"Grandpa, please have some tea."

"Good, good, good children, you're all good children." The two elderly people each took the tea, and whether it was from the heat or something else, their eyes were very red, especially the grandmother's mouth twitched a few times as she cried and laughed.

Tong Zhao and Shan Song exchanged a glance, and they understood that they missed their daughter.

But the two of them are, after all, the younger generation, and even if it was unintentional, how could they easily let go of the fact that they pushed their daughter into the tiger's den, and they didn't even know how to comfort her.

Tong Zhao moved her fingers slightly, but Shan Song grasped them with his hand.

Shan Song held Tong Zhao's hand out in front of her grandmother and said softly, "Grandma, shouldn't we give Zhao Zhao a big red envelope?"

Tong Zhao clenched his fist tightly; this was the first time this person had called him that.

His words were interrupted, and Grandma, concealing her embarrassment, smiled and said, "We should give Zhaozhao a big red envelope. Old man, hurry up and bring it out."

Grandpa turned around and, using his sleeve as a cover, lightly dabbed his eyes twice: "Here, this is for Zhaozhao, and this is for both of you."

Grandma reached out and took the jade bracelet, which gleamed with a moist luster, and put it on Tong Zhao's wrist: "It fits perfectly. This should have been prepared for our Zhao Zhao."

Tong Zhao blushed as they kept calling her "Zhao Zhao" repeatedly, having been led astray by Shan Song. Remembering Shan Song's words that there was no need to refuse, she replied softly, "Thank you, Grandma, I like it very much."

"The Shan family can't offer any particularly good gifts right now, Zhao Zhao, don't be upset. We'll ask Shan Song to make up for it later if you want anything."

"No, I won't mind. It's already very good, it couldn't be better." The last sentence was barely a whisper, and Tong Zhao's eyes also became a little moist. He hadn't felt the warmth of family affection for a long time, how could he possibly mind?

"And this is the share of the Shan family stock allocated to the two of you. Shan Song already has one share, and this is Shan Song's mother's share—"

Grandma composed herself and said, "A-Zhen said before that she would leave it to Shan Song when he got married, so now we've fulfilled that wish for her."

Shan Song took the document, picked up a pen and signed it decisively, then handed it to Tong Zhao: "Here, sign it."

"Me?" Tong Zhao hesitated for a moment.

"Yes, sign with confidence. There's no risk. Consider it a profitable investment. If I successfully bring down the Zhou family, your dividends will increase accordingly. If I lose, even if the Zhou family goes bankrupt—"

Tong Zhao quickly covered Shan Song's mouth, but realizing everyone was watching, she immediately let go and gave Shan Song a weak glare: "I'll sign!"

Don't say such unlucky things.

A warm smile spread across Shan Song's eyes as he gently watched the omega sign the document and hand it back to her grandmother.
