Chapter 36 What preparations?

When Shan Song returned to the banquet hall, he appeared completely normal. The discordant voices were suppressed, and everyone remained polite to him.

Apart from the Zhou family of three, no one else seems to care about his appearance.

Normally, Shan Song wouldn't pay much attention to this family's emotional euphoria, but perhaps Ruan Qiuju had been misled by the flattery of other wealthy women, because even without Zhou Muyuan around, she dared to flaunt her shallow mind in front of Shan Song:

"I just heard that something happened to the Qin family's child. Xiaosong, don't listen to their nonsense. The child is indeed handsome, but I don't think he's the type to betray himself. He probably just accidentally did something that caused a misunderstanding, and people are spreading rumors about him."

"How much misunderstanding must there be for this to spread like this?" Zhou Xinlin grinned lewdly, echoing Ruan Qiuju's words.

Seeing Shan Song's warning look, he not only didn't back down, but raised his voice: "It's no wonder people misunderstand me because I look so flirtatious. I think my sister-in-law is very experienced. Brother, don't be angry. Once you're married, you can enjoy yourself in private."

After saying that, his expression revealed an undisguised eagerness: "To be honest, Geng Keli is really clueless about romance. If it were me, I'd definitely want to try it out myself—"

"Zhou Xinlin." Shan Song's calm yet chilling voice rang out, abruptly stopping Zhou Xinlin's eloquent speech and freezing his expression instantly.

The warning in his eyes faded, and Shan Song's expression became cold and repressed. When he looked at people, it was as if a solemn judge was looking at a prisoner sentenced to death through the courtroom.

Zhou Xinlin's heart skipped a beat, and his eyes involuntarily darted away, but he still forced a smile and asked, "What?"

As Shan Song's gaze lingered on him, this blustering yet cowardly demeanor gradually returned to its original simplicity. Shan Song's expression remained unchanged as he stared at Zhou Xinlin, his expression shifting from apprehension to panic, and then from panic to fear.

"Don't be stupid." Shan Song leaned close to Zhou Xinlin's ear: "Do you really think that taking you to a banquet means anything? Good brother, you don't think Zhou Muyuan only has you as his son, do you?"

Zhou Xinlin suddenly turned to look at him. A meaningful smile appeared on Shan Song's lips. He patted Zhou Xinlin's shoulder and turned the volume of the recorder in his hand to the maximum.

The tone was very good, very close to the human voice. With the deliberate obscuring of the shovel, it seemed as if it were spoken by Zhou Xinlin at this very moment.

Then, as expected, a low growl rang out: "Zhou Xinlin, what did you say!"

Zhou Muyuan had just finished explaining and finally managed to quell the murmurs among the crowd when he turned around and saw his own idiot dragging things down again. He was so angry that he gritted his teeth and swung his cane, which had long since become a decoration, twice in the air, trying to make sure that no one around him noticed his reaction. He looked exactly like someone in a fit of impotent rage.

Like other spoiled brats, Zhou Xinlin was mostly afraid of Zhou Muyuan, the undisputed authority in the family. When he saw Zhou Muyuan walking towards him with a stern face and gritting his teeth, Zhou Xinlin instantly became flustered.

Ruan Qiuju wanted to help explain, but couldn't find the words. Zhou Xinlin had said those words himself, and even if he was framed by Shan Song, he had no grounds for argument.

Seeing them like this, Zhou Muyuan's anger flared even more: "Come out with me!"

Dan Song watched calmly as the mother and son hopped around a few times like grasshoppers in autumn before wilting. He then turned and gave Qi Changzhou a wink, signaling for Qi Changzhou to go out and check on them.

They hadn't exchanged any secret codes, but Qi Changzhou was neither too close nor too far away, and he had just overheard Zhou Xinlin spouting nonsense. He felt that if he still didn't understand what "Shan Song" meant at this moment, then all these years of being brothers would have been for nothing.

So he returned Shan Song's look, a look that contained much more: Don't worry, after the banquet I'll drag your trashy little brother to some corner and beat him up. No matter how much he cries for his parents or ancestors, it won't do him any good. Tomorrow morning I'll strip him naked and throw him on the dock, so he can salute the coastal scenery in the rising sun and the sea breeze carrying the warm and humid air from the Pacific Ocean.

"..." Shan Song felt that he didn't understand, so he turned his head away and gave up the conversation, and followed him out.

Zhou Muyuan was seething with anger all day and had nowhere to vent it. He pointed at Ruan Qiuju and said angrily, "Look at the good son you raised! He has really disgraced me today!"

Ruan Qiuju stammered, "Muyuan, Xinlin is still young..."

"Young? Didn't you say he was old enough to join the company?" Zhou Muyuan laughed angrily, then glanced at the useless Zhou Xinlin cowering behind Ruan Qiuju. At this moment, Zhou Xinlin didn't dare to utter a word. He didn't understand why he was still tolerating Shan Song's ill intentions in letting him teach this idiot.

An uncontrollable surge of anger erupted within him: "Take your good son and get back home! Get out!"

Ruan Qiuju left with Zhou Xinlin, wiping away tears. Zhou Xinlin remained absent-minded until they parted, indicating that he had taken Ruan Qiuju's words to heart.

Dan Song watched Zhou Muyuan's fascinating expression from a distance, and quickly left while Zhou Muyuan turned around.

Because of this farce, Zhou Muyuan was not in the mood to continue socializing. He had tried to get Shan Song drunk before but failed, but he had drunk quite a bit himself. In the end, Shan Song had to help Zhou Muyuan out of the room.

Zhou Muyuan leaned drunkenly against the car door, staring at Shan Song for a long time. He seemed to finally recognize her and let out a soft sneer: "Shan Zhen, what kind of expression would Shan Zhen have if she knew that her son was serving me like this?"

Dan Song's fingers paused for a moment, then he glanced coldly at Zhou Muyuan, who was not quite in a daze. An isolated island, nighttime, drunk driving—perfect conditions…

Zhou Muyuan suddenly laughed: "Yes, that's it... It's so similar, exactly like your mother's, exactly like your mother's..."

As she spoke, her tone suddenly turned sinister: "Just like your mother before she died! She was just born into a good family, and I don't know what she thinks of her superiority. An omega who doesn't stay at home to be a wife and mother, and the child even has to take her surname."

"In the end, they were still under my control. The Shan family and her son, hehehe... Qi Changzhou, do you think it's useful to get involved with Qi Changzhou? You and your mother are the same, you'll never escape my grasp. She didn't even beg me for a divorce before she died."

Dan Song's face was hidden in the shadows, making it impossible to discern his expression, but his fist, which was gripping the roof of the car, was clenched tightly, his nails digging into his palms, leaving several deep crescent-shaped marks.

"You too! You're all the same!" Zhou Muyuan seemed to want to say something more, but he passed out before he could think of anything.

After a while, Shan Song reached out a hand and squeezed Zhou Muyuan's throat, squeezing it tighter and tighter until the throat bones could no longer withstand the pressure and made a "gurgling" sound as they rubbed against each other. The person who had passed out in the carriage was still unconscious, but the phone suddenly rang.

Dan Song paused for a moment, stopped moving but did not withdraw his hand.

The phone rang for more than twenty seconds before Shan Song finally let out a sigh of relief, took out his phone, and answered the call before it automatically disconnected.

"Shan Song, are you back?" A soft voice, carrying the warmth of moisture, soothed Shan Song's ear.

"...Okay, I'll be right back."

"Oh..." Tong Zhao on the other end of the phone seemed to hesitate for a moment, then, as if overcoming some psychological barrier, she said quickly, "I'm ready!"

The call ended.

The pain in her palm, which had been delayed for a long time, slowly transmitted to her nerves. Shan Song reacted for a moment, blinked in confusion, and asked, "What preparation?"
