Chapter 46: Airborne Failure, She Waks Up at the Crime Scene and Becomes His Suspect Again...

Chapter 46: Airborne Failure, She Waks Up at the Crime Scene and Becomes His Suspect Again...

Gu Yifeng took a step forward, standing in front of Wen Yi. "How long does it take to recharge the energy? Is it feasible to transmit in two batches?"

"Are you also someone with the ability to time and space? You're just adding to the chaos." Cao Mo pushed his glasses, too lazy to talk nonsense with him. "Besides, too many people can easily lead to changes."

"There must be other ways..." Gu Yifeng was still trying, but Wen Yi stopped him and shook his head.

"He's just worried about me." Wen Yi stepped forward, stood in front of the center console, and asked, "Which time should we choose?"

Cao Mo's gaze fell on the terminal screen, and he chose his words carefully. "In theory, the earlier we intervene, the better. The fewer people and things involved, the better."

Wen Yi pondered for a moment. "It seems I could choose the day fifteen years ago when I followed my parents down the mountain," she muttered to herself. "If we hadn't left Yuexi Mountain, perhaps none of this would have happened."

Gu Yifeng's head shot up at that. If only she hadn't left the mountain that year... Before he could object, Cao Mo had already set the parameters on the terminal and handed Wen Yi a pair of specially made headphones. "This is a micro-communicator that can receive your voice data." He then handed her a pair of black-framed glasses. "They have a built-in camera that can capture real-time images."

Wen Yi quickly put it on and walked towards the hatch of the Time Anchor.

"Remember," Cao Mo warned, "don't lose your communication tools. Whether you complete the mission or not, we will teleport you back."

"I understand." She nodded and got into the cabin and sat down.

Gu Yifeng stood aside, his eyes filled with thousands of words.

"Wait until I come back." she whispered.

He reached out and tidied up the hair around her ears: "Remember, do what you say."

The cabin door slowly closed, and the cabin was pitch black. Wen Yi silently clenched her hands.

"The transmission is about to begin. 5, 4, 3..." The cold system prompt sounded, and her heartbeat gradually accelerated with the countdown.

The next second, the Time Anchor emitted a violent humming sound, resonating throughout the laboratory. Amidst a flash of blue light, Wen Yi closed her eyes, her consciousness entering a higher-dimensional spacetime, locking onto the spatial coordinates of Moon Gap Mountain fifteen years prior. Ripples formed in the air, and the entire space began to distort.

The whole city suddenly fell into darkness, as if the pause button was pressed.

After 0.8 seconds, power was restored as if nothing had happened.

The Anchor Hold of Time was empty.

*

Wen Yi slowly opened her eyes, her vision blurry and her consciousness hazy. She tried to move her arms, but felt a wave of weakness, as if she had just experienced a fierce battle. The air was filled with the smell of dirt and leaves, and she seemed to be lying on damp grass. Where was this?!

I could hear vague conversations.

“…Two female bodies were found at the scene.”

"Double murder case? That's quite rare."... Why does this voice sound familiar?

"One of the deceased was suspected of being assaulted, while the other was found to be fully clothed."

"Got it. We'll start the preliminary autopsy now." The voice gradually became clearer. Someone was explaining the situation to the forensic doctor.

Wen Yi heard the sound of the man opening the toolbox. She turned her head with difficulty and saw a man in a white coat and gloves squatting beside her. He raised his head and the moment his eyes fell on Wen Yi's face -

"Oh shit!!!" He fell backwards suddenly, "You..." His lips trembled slightly, and his face turned pale in an instant, as if he had seen a ghost.

Although Wen Yi was weak, she could still see his face clearly.

It was Dai Yiming! Why was it him? Shouldn't she have been sent to Yuexi Mountain? Her eyes subconsciously scanned the surroundings, and a chill instantly ran down her spine. Beside her lay a dishevelled corpse of a woman...

!!!

Wen Yi also said, "Oh shit," and she didn't know whether she should say it or not.

"Call an ambulance! She's still alive!" Dai Yiming turned around and said to the patrolman, "What's going on? Can't you even tell if she's dead or not?"

"Impossible!" the patrolman said innocently, "We just checked twice, and she's confirmed dead!"

"That's right!" another patrolman said in disbelief.

"The absence of vital signs doesn't guarantee death! She could be in suspended animation." Dai Yiming calmed himself down and quickly took out a flashlight to shine into Wen Yi's eyes. "Her reaction to light is normal...her pulse is a little weak...and her temperature is rising." Dai Yiming looked at her with a complicated expression. "Who are you? Why are you at the crime scene?"

Wen Yi was still lying on the ground, speechless and looking up at the sky. Who was she? Someone who shouldn't be here!

She followed Dai Yiming as he stood up, looking at the man approaching and shouting, "Gu Yifeng! You've arrived just in time! Come and take over this 'resurrection miracle'! He was just presumed dead, but now he's breathing again. It's your turn."

Wen Yi's eyes suddenly widened. Who?! She turned her head and saw a tall figure walking towards her against the light. It was a familiar figure. Who else could it be but Gu Yifeng?

Is this what we see above?

Gu Yifeng, dressed in a police uniform, stopped in front of her, glanced at her indifferently, and said to Dai Yiming, "Can she be taken away directly given her physical condition?"

"Although a little weak, it should be fine."

Gu Yifeng nodded, his tone calm: "Then go to the police station to make a statement first, and then send him to the hospital for a re-examination after that."

He lowered his head to glance at Wen Yi and said in a calm tone, "Can you speak?"

Wen Yi stared at him, moved her lips but didn't say anything.

Several policemen came forward to help Wen Yi up and tried to help her stand up.

"Let's go."

Wen Yi smiled bitterly in her heart. This script...she was familiar with it!

Yunhu City Criminal Investigation Detachment

Wen Yi once again sat in the familiar interrogation room, the lights glaring coldly. She whispered to herself, "Explain! Where's the Moon Gap Mountain we were supposed to be in? How did you land here?"

A moment later, Cao Mo's voice came through the headset: "Due to technical difficulties, the time and location of the airdrop have deviated slightly. You are now in Yunhu City, approximately twelve hours ahead of schedule." He paused, his tone slightly more sincere, "I'm sorry, but the transmission has already been completed, and there's nothing we can do. Please be sure to abide by the previous agreement and try not to interfere with the Yunhu City timeline."

Wen Yi's eyes twitched. "I've already parachuted into the crime scene, and you expect me to disappear quietly? Is that even possible?"

The door to the interrogation room opened, and a familiar figure walked in. Twenty-year-old Gu Yifeng, tall and sturdy, with a clear, sharp gaze, followed him. An older police officer sat down across from him and flipped open his transcript.

Same place, different time, she became his suspect again.

However, the person they met this time was Gu Yifeng, a stranger.

In order not to affect the timeline here, she could not show any abnormality and could only lower her head and pretend to be an innocent and confused victim.

Gu Yifeng's gaze lingered on her for a moment, and he frowned slightly: "Name?"

"Wen Yi." She answered in a low voice.

"ID number?"

Her eyes flickered: "...I can't recite it."

Gu Yifeng stared at her for a few seconds and quickly searched the system: "There are two Wen Yis in the country, one is 3 years old and the other is 96 years old." He glanced at her sharply, and a sneer appeared on the corner of his mouth. "Excuse me, which one are you?"

Wen Yi lowered her head and said nothing.

"Where are you from?" another police officer continued to inquire, "Why are you at the crime scene?"

Wen Yi sighed. Every question was a life-threatening one. She didn't know how to answer and could only remain silent.

Time was ticking away, and she had to reach Moongap Mountain, hundreds of kilometers away, within half a day. But now she was a suspect in a case, unable to influence the timeline. Was there a time traveler worse off than her? Probably not.

After a long silence, Gu Yifeng spoke again: "What are you hiding?" His tone was unhurried, but with a strong sense of oppression.

Wen Yi finally whispered, "I heard the medical examiner at the scene say that the preliminary diagnosis was sexual assault." She tried to keep her tone calm, "I don't have any tools or motives, so I can't be the murderer."

Gu Yifeng raised his eyebrows: "Do you think we suspect you based on whether you have the tools to commit the crime?"

Wen Yi raised her eyes to meet his scrutinizing gaze: "I really don't know anything. If you really want to find out the truth, you should quickly find a man with the motive and conditions to commit the crime instead of getting entangled with me."

Gu Yifeng smiled coldly: "Your explanation sounds reasonable, but it is not enough for me to release you. It is up to you to decide whether to cooperate with the police."

Her heart sank. Was this really the 20-year-old Gu Yifeng? How could he be even more difficult to deal with than the 30-year-old? Who could have imagined that the biggest obstacle he encountered after traveling back in time would be Gu Yifeng!

Time was running out, so Wen Yi decided to take a gamble. She tentatively asked, "Can I have a cup of coffee?"

A few minutes later, Gu Yifeng placed a cup of instant coffee in front of her.

"Thank you." Wen Yi looked up at him and said cautiously, "I... want to add sugar. I only add sugar to my coffee!" She looked at him expectantly.

Gu Yifeng turned around impatiently and was about to leave: "Drink it if you want."

Wen Yi had originally intended to use the memories between him and "Yi Yi" to gain a little favor. She hadn't expected this to be the result! Unwilling to give up, she reached out and grabbed his sleeve, trying one last time: "Please... please?"

Gu Yifeng paused slightly, then threw him away: "What are you doing! It's inexplicable."

……!

*

In the laboratory, everyone sat around the big screen, staring at Wen Yi's live footage.

"What should we do now?" someone asked in a low voice.

A researcher frowned, "I didn't expect things to turn out like this!"

"If we delay like this, we won't be able to reach Moon Gap Mountain in time! It's hundreds of kilometers away!"

Gu Yifeng looked at the screen with a complicated expression. After a long silence, he finally said, "Was I really so difficult to deal with before?"

*

Wen Yi was drowsy in the interrogation room when the door was suddenly pushed open and Gu Yifeng walked in.

"You can go now." His matter-of-fact tone seemed like a different person.

Wen Yi raised her head suddenly, a hint of surprise and confusion flashing in her eyes: "Why?"

Gu Yifeng stared at her: "I found some new clues and have preliminarily ruled out your suspicion."

Wen Yi breathed a sigh of relief and stood up eagerly, trying to make her movements appear natural. "Thank you! I'll be leaving first."

"Wait." Gu Yifeng suddenly stopped her, "You don't have a penny on you, where are you going?"

Wen Yi was speechless for a moment. It was obvious that she was in a very miserable state.

"I'll take care of getting you home." He had a faint smile on his face.

"No need!" She refused decisively and asked him to return it.

He sneered and looked at her coldly. Wen Yi felt a chill on her back. She had a hunch that if she didn't do what he said today, he wouldn't let her leave like this.

She pretended to hesitate: "Then...I'll trouble you."

The car drove into a deserted and remote road, and the street lights ahead were dim.

Wen Yi had a hunch: "Officer, is this the way to the bus station?"

The car slowly stopped. Gu Yifeng did not answer. His profile was hidden in the darkness and his expression could not be seen clearly.

Wen Yi probed again: "...Officer?"

"Go ahead." He suddenly spoke.

"say what?"

"Tell me how you knew those words."

Wen Yi's pupils shrank. So he was waiting for her here! She subconsciously reached for the car door lock.

"Officer, I really don't know what you're talking about." She tried to keep her voice steady, "but I think I should go."

His hand was about to open the car door.

The next second,

Sizzle——

A flash of light appeared in the darkness, and Wen Yi's body twitched violently, and her consciousness instantly became blurred.

The last thing she saw was Gu Yifeng's calm eyes. She finally confirmed that he had no intention of letting her go.
