Chapter 13 "Shall we live together?" He hurriedly turned his head away. Jing Yu…
Looking at the full table of food, Wen Han felt that even a rat that had fallen into a granary couldn't be happier than him at this moment.
His favorite dish is Linjin roast duck, a rose-colored duck soaked in a sweet gravy.
"Host, you like to eat this, right?" the system said happily. "I like to eat this too."
How did you know what it tasted like?
"The one Fang Songxia brought before, host, you even fished out the last piece of duck skin from the soup."
Jingyu has been eating with them these past few days, so he must have seen it too. Wen Han said angrily, "Why didn't you remind me when it was so embarrassing!"
The system said, sounding aggrieved, "You were so happy at the time, I felt embarrassed."
Even if it reminds her, Wen Han will definitely still get angry and embarrassed.
Jing Zhao seemed even happier than Wen Han, and he was smiling even while eating.
Seeing how happy she was, Jing Feng felt much more relaxed: "Why are you so happy?"
"I can go out and have fun next Saturday." Jing Zhao had already devoured a mountain of salt and pepper pork ribs. "Wen Han, do you hate watching movies?"
Wen Han paused for a moment: "I don't dislike it."
Jing Feng asked, "Can't we watch movies at home?"
"The atmosphere is different! And we can do other things after watching the movie." Next to Rib Mountain is Lengthy Mountain, and Wen Han suspects that three generations of the Lengthy Mountain family are there.
Wen Qingke dared to complain that he was a picky eater. If he had the same appetite as Jing Zhao, he would probably have eaten all the pig feed at the Wen family's house every night and would have eaten them all up if he woke up hungry in the middle of the night.
After dinner, there was a small dessert. Wen Han used a small silver spoon to scoop chocolate chips from the ice cream: "System, do you think they'll notice if I secretly slip this little spoon into my sleeve?"
"Host!"
Wen Han couldn't stop laughing after teasing the system: "Hahaha."
——
After the meal, Wen Han was thinking about how to get home.
"Wen Han," Jing Yu asked him, "why don't you move in with us? It would be more convenient that way, and I'll take care of you."
Wen Han refused, and Jing Feng asked in confusion, "Why? Your family—"
He suddenly cried out in pain, and Jingyu smiled and explained, "My older brother is prone to toothaches."
Why would you eat ice cream if you have a toothache?
Jing Feng covered her cheek and forced a smile, "Sorry, what I wanted to ask was whether your family disagreed with you living out here?"
"I want to stay at home."
Jing Feng sighed inwardly. Even living in such a poor place, he was unwilling to come and stay at the Jing family's house. It seemed that Wen Han was still very filial and attached to his family. His neighbors must have been deliberately speaking ill of Wen Han.
"Host," the system said, its eyes welling up with tears, "it turns out you have another side."
"What are you thinking?" Wen Han asked curiously. "If I move out, who will torment them?"
"ah?"
"How do you think I could endure such a miserable life without moving to my maternal grandmother's house?" Wen Han said disdainfully. "If I weren't here, do you believe those three could ever become a happy family? Don't even think about it!"
As long as Wen Han is at home, she has to make sure that none of them are happy.
"Why not? Host, you also suffered a loss." The system advised, "Then you might as well go to the Jing family. You can eat delicious food every day, and I can confirm that the beds here are especially comfortable."
Once Wen Han has made up her mind, nothing can change it: "I'm happy to do it."
*
Jing Feng had the driver take Wen Han home, and Jing Yu came along as well.
Wen Han didn't understand why he had followed her. Jing Yu showed her a message: "The lawyer has resolved the matter."
Wen Han exclaimed in surprise, "So fast!"
He quickly asked, "What was the outcome?"
"The student your father was willing to forgive, and whose parents paid for medical and nutritional expenses."
"That..." Wen Han couldn't recall the person's name, "What about that purple-haired guy?"
Are you asking about Jin Mingxuan?
"I think that's his name, the one who hit me." He'll tell Gu Cheng later that there's a problem with that piece of land, and Wen Han will never let him off the hook.
Jing Yu lowered his head slightly and remained silent.
Wen Han asked anxiously, "Jing Yu, what happened?"
“Wenruan went with your father,” Jingyu said softly. “He was trying to calm things down. The other parents were crying, and your father softened.”
"What!" Wen Han was so angry she almost vomited blood. "Wasn't it supposed to be him going alone?"
"It seems that Gu Cheng escorted Wen Ruan there."
Jing Yu said aggrievedly, "Fortunately, I had previously asked a lawyer to find a way to convict them. The fact that Jin Mingxuan hit you can prove that he has no intention of repenting after making a mistake, which is why he was detained."
Wen Han felt a surge of anger rising in her chest: "So, all those other people involved in the brawl just have to pay compensation?"
“Your father is willing to forgive you, and he is your guardian.” Jing Yu stared at Wen Han’s barely concealed anger, her voice carrying a hint of seduction. “Gu Cheng also said…”
"What else did that bastard say?!"
“He threatened the lawyer.” Jing Yu sighed, her brows furrowing slightly, making her beautiful face look pitiful. “Wen Han, that lawyer was just trying to be kind. I’m so worried that I’ll make him lose his job.”
Wen Han said guiltily, "Jing Yu...have I caused you any trouble?"
“It’s alright, I asked my brother to let him work in my family’s company’s legal department.”
Wen Han gasped in fright. If Gu Cheng wanted to retaliate and found out that the lawyer worked for the Jing family, wouldn't that have brought the conflict between Jing Feng and Gu Cheng forward?
He turned his head away in a panic. Jing Yu slightly raised the corners of his mouth: "Wen Han, what's wrong?"
Wen Han didn't dare look him in the eye: "No, it's nothing."
"Don't worry," Jing Yu comforted her gently. "I'm just glad I could help you."
Wen Han was deeply moved.
The system was dumbfounded by his actions. How could this person lie so easily?!
——
Wen Han was holding back her anger, and she felt much stronger. She even climbed the stairs with ease.
The Wen family's front door was open. Wen Han glanced at the few extra pairs of shoes placed next to the shoe rack and snorted coldly.
A burst of laughter erupted from his room. Wen Han opened the door expressionlessly, and Wen Ruan jumped up in fright when she saw him.
Wenhao was just using Wenhan's bed as a trampoline when he saw Wenhan and immediately hid behind his grandparents in fright.
Wen Ruan's grandparents sat down by Wen Han's bedside. When they saw Wen Han, although the terrifying memories of the past flooded back, they thought that Wen Han should be more sensible now that she was older, and since they were her elders, they didn't say anything and just sat there motionless with long faces.
Wen Han was so angry she almost laughed. Where did they get the nerve?!
Wen Ruan nervously stepped in front of him: "Wen Han, Dad has brought people to pick up Wen Ruo. We can all have a meal together."
Wenhao was being held by his grandmother, with only half of his face showing, looking at Wenhan defiantly.
Wen Han gave a soft "Mmm": "Did Dad invite them?"
Seeing that he didn't seem to be angry, Wen Ruan breathed a sigh of relief. Wen Han went to the small cabinet next to her bed, took off her mask, and put it inside.
Wenhao secretly kicked him, then immediately shrank back into his grandmother's arms. Wen Han turned around, and Grandma Wenruan smiled and said, "The child is naughty, don't take it to heart."
You've already graduated from elementary school, why are you still pretending to be a child?
Wenhao stuck out his tongue: "I told you not to bully my brother!"
Wen Ruan was a little embarrassed and was about to apologize to Wen Han when Wen Han raised her foot and kicked her hard!
Grandma Wenruan was caught off guard and was kicked to the ground by Wen Han along with her grandson. They fell to the floor with a thud.
Wenhao bumped his mouth and burst into tears.
Wen Han asked in surprise, "You don't even remember being beaten up a few years ago, how come you're so bold?"
Grandma Wenruan tenderly pried open Wenhao's mouth to check if he was alright, while Grandpa Wenruan angrily said, "You...don't you know how to respect the elderly and care for the young!"
His response was a schoolbag coming straight at him.
“I’m the creditor, why should I treat you with respect and care? I remember warning you.” Wen Han said, word by word. “You’re only here to pay off your debts, do you really think you’re guests?”
"Get out of here now, or I'll call my grandparents. They don't have as many concerns as I do."
Wen Ruan, with tears in her eyes, said, "Wen Han, you've gone too far!"
"Either shut up or I'll beat you too." Wen Han's eyes flashed coldly. "I haven't even settled accounts with you yet. Why are you going to cause trouble if you're not a lawyer?"
Wen Ruan's face turned pale.
Wenhao was still howling like a pig being slaughtered, his cries carrying all the way downstairs. Wen Qingke broke out in a cold sweat, and Wen Ru frowned and said, "Dad, you should go up and check on him."
Wen Qingke ran upstairs, where Wen Han was dragging Wen Hao by the collar with one hand and Wen Ruan's grandmother with the other, while Wen Ruan's grandfather was desperately hitting Wen Han's back from behind. After throwing the two people off, Wen Han immediately turned around, grabbed his hair, and threw him off as well.
On the small table next to them was a bag of pickled fish, Wen Ruan's favorite dish, which looked like it had been bought by her grandparents. Wen Han scoffed. Wasn't the reason he left Wen Ruan at his house and only took Wen Hao with him because Wen Hao was an Alpha? Why was he pretending to come over now?
He picked up the pickled fish and threw it over their heads. The bag was flimsy and broke apart as soon as he threw it, spilling soup all over them. Wen Han saw the long pickled cabbage hanging down their heads, indirectly adorning the snow-white fish slices, and burst out laughing.
Wen Ruan went to help his grandparents in humiliation. Wen Qingke arrived just then and, seeing this scene, was so angry that his hands trembled. He was about to hit him.
Wen Han grabbed his hand and said sarcastically, "What, do you still think I'm a child that you can hit at will?"
He said coldly, "Let them leave, or I'll call Grandpa."
Wenruan's grandparents, holding their wailing grandson, said angrily, "Don't call us again."
They said to Wen Qingke, "This Wen Han has been wild since he was a child, and he's even more unruly now that he's grown up. How can you be such a father!"
Wen Han thought they were dirty, so she didn't do anything more and went back to her room.
Hearing the phone being dialed inside, Grandpa Wenruan led his family and fled in panic.
And so, they didn't intend to take Wen Ruan with them.
Wen Han put down the phone and swept all the dishes that had been laid out on the table onto the floor. Wen Qingke pointed to the door and said, "Get out of here. Don't come back until you've reflected on your actions!"
Wen Han sneered.
