Chapter 3 Why make things difficult for cannon fodder? Wen Han could tell at a glance that he was...
What?
Wen Han was very reluctant; he had already gotten used to having two desks.
But he had no choice. Jing Yu walked to the desk, which was crammed with Wen Han's test papers and textbooks. Sometimes Wen Han was too lazy to tidy up, so she would just stuff the old test papers onto the right side of the desk, making it quite messy.
Jing Yu had a good temper and smiled slightly. Wen Han had no choice but to accept her bad luck and bring out all of his old test papers at once.
Little did she expect that this pull would trigger a chain reaction; the test papers and books on the left, no longer supported, also surged to the right. Wen Han was already holding a pile of test papers in her arms, and could only watch helplessly as they all crashed to the ground.
The homeroom teacher sighed, "Wen Han, I'll have to get you an extra desk. Should I also get you a page?"
The class burst into laughter. Wen Han put her test paper on the table with a straight face, then bent down to pick up the things on the ground.
"What bad luck!" Wen Han gritted his teeth in frustration. He quickly picked up his things and stuffed them back into his desk drawer. Just then, Jing Yu squatted down to help him collect the exam papers. He was clearly much more patient than Wen Han, folding and stacking the papers neatly before handing them to him.
Sigh. Wen Han felt sorry for him; good people don't live long.
As she was tidying up, Jing Yu suddenly stopped. Wen Han looked over instinctively and saw that her revenge plan had fallen to the ground and been picked up by Jing Yu. He was looking down at something he had written. Wen Han's heart tightened, and she quickly snatched it back.
Jing Yu was taken aback when he saw his empty palm. Wen Han glared at him nervously, wondering why he was looking at other people's things so casually.
The other person lowered their head, their expression unreadable, and continued to help him pick up the test papers.
After tidying up, Wen Han sat back down. The system said, "Host, he just helped you. You should say thank you; that's polite."
Would that have happened if he hadn't insisted on sitting next to her? But Wen Han didn't want to argue with the little fool, so she whispered, "Thank you."
Jing Yu smiled and said, "It's my pleasure."
Looking at his handsome face, Wen Han felt a little less annoyed.
Forget it, why make things difficult for other cannon fodder?
——
This math class was a problem-solving class. As usual, Wen Han started to daydream after listening for twenty minutes and waited for the get out of class to end.
"Host," the system said with dissatisfaction, "you have to listen to the lecture and can't be distracted during class."
Wen Han complained, "Why are you being so nosy? It's already pretty good if I can listen to half of the 45 minutes. You can't expect me to go against my natural instincts, can you?"
"But Wenruan and Wenruo are both listening to the lecture."
Wen Han asked impatiently, "What did I say to you yesterday?"
The system said aggrievedly, "You're not allowed to say good things about them, but I'm doing this for your own good."
Wen Han knew he couldn't reason with this little fool. He rubbed his temples, just as his homeroom teacher caught him not looking at the blackboard: "Wen Han, what's the answer to this question?"
Wen Han stood up awkwardly: "Hey, which question did he just answer?"
The system stammered, "I was so busy talking to you just now."
Jingyu whispered, "B."
Wen Han immediately answered, "B!"
"Sit down."
Wen Han breathed a sigh of relief, finding Jing Yu more and more agreeable, and this time she finally thanked him sincerely.
After class, the homeroom teacher called out Wen Ruo and Wen Ruan's names and asked them to go to the office. Wen Han knew it was about the morning self-study session, so she simply took the test paper and prepared to pretend to ask the physics teacher a difficult question, while secretly following him to watch the show.
Jingyu saw that he couldn't control the gloating smile on his face. Just then, the class monitor came over to ask what was going on. While answering, Jingyu casually said, "The teacher just mentioned Wen Ruo. How come she has the same surname as my deskmate?"
The class monitor, always enthusiastic but also prone to blurting out, said, "Hey, they're family, of course they share the same surname. Was he even smiling happily?"
The squad leader chattered on enthusiastically: "They're like brothers and enemies. Wen Ruo has a bruise on her face, and it's a miracle he doesn't laugh. How can they be like this?"
Jing Yu smiled without saying a word. The class monitor saw that Wen Han's desk was a mess and couldn't help but tidy it up, but Jing Yu stopped him: "He probably doesn't like others touching his things."
"Oh, oh," the class monitor said awkwardly, "thank goodness you reminded me."
After the class monitor left, Jingyu glanced at the corner of the loose-leaf paper that was being covered up, picked up a stack of documents, and went out.
---
When Wen Han walked into the office, she glanced inside. Wen Ruan and Wen Ruo were standing in front of the desk, one with an indifferent expression and the other with tears in her eyes and her head slightly lowered.
The homeroom teacher first took a sip of tea, then turned on the computer and did something for a while before finally speaking, "Please sit down."
In his mind, Wen Ruan had always been a well-behaved and good student, so he was absolutely convinced that it was Gu Cheng, that bad student, who was harassing Wen Ruan: "Wen Ruan, I know you are introverted. Is it that Gu Cheng who has been making things difficult for you?"
Gu Cheng's name is famous throughout the school. The teachers in the office were feeling bored, but as soon as they heard Gu Cheng's name, they stopped grading papers, drinking tea, and scrolling through Douyin (TikTok), and all perked up their ears.
Wen Ruan lowered his head with some difficulty. He felt that he should be able to complain to the teacher about how bad Gu Cheng was, but for some reason, every time Gu Cheng bullied him, he just couldn't bring himself to tell the teacher or his father. He couldn't remember how or he couldn't do it.
Wen Ruo frowned: "Teacher, that Gu Cheng often causes trouble for Wen Ruan."
The homeroom teacher sighed. Wen Han was somewhat dissatisfied. Gu Cheng had a bad reputation, and even the school teachers were afraid of him. The homeroom teacher didn't dare to call him over to persuade him. What was the point of watching this show?
He looked up and saw a green-haired man walking towards him. Wen Han had a deep impression of this green-haired man, so he remembered him as Zhang Yongqi, Gu Chengzhong's loyal underling.
Wen Han deliberately rolled her eyes at him, and Zhang Yongqi, who was easily provoked, took the bait: "Hey, are you fucking asking for a beating? You think I won't hit you just because you're an Omega?"
Wen Han was too lazy to argue with someone who was blind, and sneered, "Your older brother caused my younger brother to get scolded. You have no sense of responsibility. How can I be nice to you?"
"What?" Zhang Yongqi asked, puzzled. "What younger brother?"
“I’m Wen Ruan’s brother. He’s getting criticized in the office right now because of Gu Cheng. Gu Cheng is such a jerk, he’s ruined him.”
Zhang Yongqi's expression immediately changed, and he rushed off. Wen Han knew he was going back to report to Gu Cheng. Haha, this is getting interesting.
When Jing Yu arrived, he saw Wen Han had angered a thug. He was wondering whether to help when he heard Wen Han escalate the conflict with a few words.
Gu Cheng's class was separated from Wen Han's class by only a small corridor. In less than twenty seconds, Wen Han saw Gu Cheng with a gloomy face. The little fans around her who saw Gu Cheng were all exclaiming how handsome he was.
"Oh my god, you've dyed your hair a new color, it's brown now." Wen Han walked over and glared at him with equal concern. Gu recognized him as Wen Ruan's brother, but her face was still incredibly sour.
Wen Han said angrily, "Wen Ruan is about to cry, it's all your fault."
Gu Cheng immediately pictured Wen Ruan when he had cornered her, her beautiful eyes red like a little rabbit's, glistening tears hanging on her long eyelashes, looking both obedient and soft.
Wen Han could tell at a glance that Gu Cheng was thinking about some cutesy voice and pink fists in his barren and hopeless brain again, so she immediately stood aside with disgust.
Gu Cheng's gaze darkened. Although he liked Wen Ruan's crying face, only he could make her cry; no teacher could.
Thinking of this, Gu Cheng seemed even more irritated. He barged into the office, and Wen Han quickly pressed herself against the wall to peek inside, ready to witness the chaotic scene.
Seeing the panicked look on the person inside, Wen Han couldn't help but laugh out loud. Suddenly, someone gently patted his shoulder twice.
"What—" Wen Han turned around impatiently, her expression freezing when she saw who it was. Jing Yu's innocent and harmless face made him look like a thief as he sneaked around.
"I'm here to deliver the transfer documents to the homeroom teacher. Why are you standing at the door instead of going in?"
Wen Han glanced around and said, "Ahem, I have a question I don't understand, so I'm going to find the physics teacher."
As luck would have it, the physics teacher just returned with a teacup. Hearing Wen Han's words, she was overjoyed and said with a smile, "Wen Han, why have you suddenly become so studious? Come in, is there any question you don't understand?"
With no other option, Wen Han could only follow behind the physics teacher with a bitter face. The system sighed, "Host, you're doing this to yourself."
"Shut up!"
Seeing his troubled expression, Jingyu smiled and followed him inside.
The physics teacher clearly hadn't expected to see such a good show as soon as he walked in. Both he and Wen Han remained silent. One didn't say which question he didn't understand, and the other didn't ask the student. The two sat down at their desks and silently peeked out to see what was going on.
After all, we can discuss the questions during the next break, but we can't see a play every day.
When the homeroom teacher saw Gu Cheng enter, she was startled. Remembering that this school bully even dared to beat up teachers, she didn't dare to be too fierce in her tone. She adjusted her glasses and asked, "Excuse me, what do you want?"
Wen Ruan and Wen Ruo were both extremely surprised. Wen Han looked at Wen Ruo's restrained expression with amusement. She didn't fight or compete, no wonder she couldn't even become the second male lead.
When Gu Cheng saw Wen Ruan's red eyes, he was immediately captivated by her. His dark eyes were fixed on Wen Ruan, as if some wild beast was asserting its dominance. He was wearing a black trench coat, with his hands on his hips, and he looked terrifyingly gloomy. When Wen Ruan saw him looking at her like that, she immediately turned her head away.
Gu Cheng chuckled and turned to the homeroom teacher, saying, "I'm the one who's been pestering him, do you understand?"
Nonsense, any normal person with eyes can see that you're the one harassing others.
The poor homeroom teacher, even with the few remaining hairs on his smooth forehead, still forced himself to maintain his teacherly dignity, and said with a stern face, "Gu Cheng, you should know that harassing classmates is wrong, right? Since you recognize your mistake, then—"
"Wait a minute." Gu Cheng scoffed, "Harassment? Wen Ruan, do you think I'm harassing you?"
Wen Ruan stared at him in astonishment, only to find that this man, who never showed any weakness, seemed to have suffered a great injury. Just as he was about to speak, Wen Ruo stepped forward and shielded Wen Ruan behind her, coldly saying, "Don't you know what you've done? If you have any shame, then stop bothering him."
The physics teacher nudged Wen Han: "Wen Han, what should we do? He won't hit your brother, will he?"
Seeing that they seemed about to fight, the teachers hesitated on how to intervene. Suddenly, Wen Han jumped out: "Wen Ruan, quickly pull Wen Ruo away! Fighting will be reported to the whole school!"
Upon hearing this, Wen Ruan quickly stood up and stood between the two of them.
Gu Cheng saw Wen Ruan protecting Wen Ruo, as intimately as family. But no matter what he did, Wen Ruan avoided him like the plague. Thinking of this, his eyes turned bloodshot. The atmosphere among them had been tense, and Wen Ruan even tugged at Wen Ruo's arm and whispered, "Gu Cheng, don't go too far."
Gu Cheng was deeply stung by his words. He sneered and was about to beat Wen Ruo up, causing chaos in the office.
Gu Cheng's underlings surrounded the office door. Seeing Gu Cheng charging forward, they all cheered him on from outside, wanting to help him deal with Wen Ruo, this "shameless mistress".
