Chapter 50 The Making of a King: Five Reasons

Chapter 50 The Making of a King: Five Reasons

"We're going to be late, get up now!"

Wen Han shrank further under the covers.

Tong Shanyou urged, "Hurry up, your little brother has already dressed himself."

Wen Ruo giggled: "Brother, you're such a lazy pig if you don't get up."

Wen Han stood up in a rage.

*

Wen Han climbed onto the chair and said the same thing again: "I hate going to kindergarten, can I not go today?"

Wen Qingke brought over milk and a sandwich: "Hanhan, you're already in the middle class, why do you still hate going to school?"

"The kindergarten is full of idiots." Wen Han took a bite of her sandwich, frowning. "No salad dressing!"

"Oh dear, Dad forgot." Wen Qingke lifted the bread slices and picked out the lettuce leaves that were smeared with salad dressing.

Wen Han pointed: "There's salad dressing on the bread too."

Wen Qingke had no choice but to eat the bread slices on top as well.

Tong Shanyou added more bread to the remaining sandwiches: "Hanhan, didn't Mom tell you yesterday to be nicer to Songxia? You should take the initiative to go and play with him. Aunt Fang is worried about him."

"He's so noisy." Wen Han tried to secretly spit out the tomato slice in her mouth, but Tong Shanyou gave her a light glare, so Wen Han had no choice but to swallow the tomato.

"Why does your little brother love going to school so much?"

Wen Han was completely baffled. To make things easier, his parents had enrolled Wen Ruo in the middle class so she could go to school with him. He asked Wen Ruo, "Do you really like going to school?"

"I like it! Aren't classes fun? I can play games with everyone."

Wen Han thought for a moment: "You can play games at home too."

"But it's more fun to play with other people."

"The school bus is here, hurry up and finish eating." Tong Shanyou held one child in each hand and made sure both children had their backpacks. Finally, they made it just before the school bus left.

"Teacher Huang, I'm so sorry."

Teacher Huang smiled and said, "It's alright, it's alright, as long as we make it in time."

"Wen Han." Fang Songxia beckoned, "Come here quickly!"

Fang Songxia was wearing a shirt with an anime character that Wen Han had stopped watching a long time ago. He had stopped watching that cartoon since he started kindergarten, so Wen Han didn't really want to sit next to Fang Songxia.

Wen Ruo was not happy: "Brother, sit with me."

Wen Han didn't want to sit with the children either.

"You can sit behind us, there are still seats there," Wen Han said, making an excuse. "Mom told me to play with him."

It's about a ten-minute walk to the kindergarten. Sometimes Teacher Huang would have everyone sing nursery rhymes together, but his throat hurt today, so the children can do whatever they like.

Wen Han hugged her schoolbag with a stern face, and the whole school bus was as noisy as her first day of kindergarten.

"Wen Han, look!" Fang Songxia took out crayons and started drawing. "Do you like blue? How about I draw you a blue hat? I like yellow, look, I drew a yellow tree, isn't it pretty? Can I give it to you?"

"I can't take it anymore!" Wen Han propped up one cheek and looked out the window. How much longer until we got to kindergarten!

"Ah!" Wen Ruo got up from her seat. "The person behind my brother pulled my collar."

Wen Han frowned: "Tell him that if he hits me again, I'll break his fingers!"

A moment later, a loud cry came from behind: "Teacher Huang, Wen Ruo, twisted my finger!"

Teacher Huang has two big heads.

——

Wen Han sat in her seat reading a comic book, and Fang Songxia leaned in closer, but Wen Han pushed her away.

"Wen Han, what are you looking at?"

"comics."

"Oh." After a while, Fang Songxia asked again, "Wen Han, shall I watch it with you?"

Wen Han moved the stool to the side: "I'll show it to you after I've finished reading it."

"Thank you." Fang Songxia smiled. "The teacher gave out cookies and soy milk, let me get them for you!"

Generally speaking, Wen Han would ask Wen Ruo to get him cookies, but since Fang Songxia wanted to get cookies for him so much, it wasn't impossible for him to agree.

Wen Han nodded. He had finished reading the comic, and Wen Ruo was even drinking soy milk, but Fang Songxia still hadn't returned.

After a while, Fang Songxia's tears came back.

Wen Han asked, "Where are my cookies?"

"It was taken by Zhou Zisheng."

*

Zhou Zisheng was building blocks, with three bowls of cookies and three cups of soy milk placed next to him. He ate cookies as he built the blocks.

"Hey." He looked up and saw Wen Han standing in front of him, with Fang Songxia, who was hiding behind him with tears in her eyes, and Wen Ruo, who had been forcibly dragged there by Wen Han.

What are you doing?

"Did you steal his cookies?"

“He gave it to me willingly,” Zhou Zisheng said matter-of-factly.

He was smug, one eyebrow raised, his eyes narrowed into slits. Wen Han was annoyed by this expression, and it was only much later that he learned that this expression was called "smug and smug".

Wen Han raised her head slightly: "Take all your things back."

"What are you trying to do? I already told you he gave it to me willingly."

"Now it's something you're giving to me willingly."

"Why should I!"

"I have five reasons," Wen Han said, holding up her palm. "One, two, three, four, five!"

The fingers retracted, and the palm became a fist.

"Hehe, you wouldn't dare hit me." Zhou Zisheng was still making faces. "If you dare hit me, I'll tell the teacher."

Wen Han tapped him on the head as he wished.

Zhou Zisheng exclaimed in disbelief, "You actually dared to hit me!"

"You're the one who asked me to hit you."

"I didn't." Zhou Zisheng saw that Wen Han had even taken his cookies. "Hey, those were my cookies!"

Wen Han clenched her fist: "Now you're giving it to me willingly."

Before leaving, Wen Han even knocked down the block castle he had built.

*

When Teacher Huang led the tearful Zhou Zisheng to find Wen Han, he saw three bowls in front of Wen Han, with Fang Songxia and Wen Ru sitting on either side of her. Teacher Huang was momentarily dazed; anyone who didn't know better would have thought he was witnessing a new emperor ascending the throne.

"Wen Han, why did you snatch another child's cookie?"

Wen Han turned a page in the comic: "He stole our cookies first."

Teacher Huang asked Fang Songxia, "Songxia, did Zhou Zisheng snatch your cookies first?"

Fang Songxia nodded.

“Zhou Zisheng, you were in the wrong first. Apologize to them.”

Zhou Zisheng obediently did as instructed.

"Wen Han, look, Zhou Zisheng has already apologized. What should you do?"

"I forgive you," Wen Han said magnanimously. "You're not allowed to steal Fang Songxia's cookies again."

Teacher Huang waited a while: "Uh...shouldn't you give Zhou Zisheng back his cookies now? And hitting someone is wrong too. Apologize to Zhou Zisheng as well."

Wen Han gave her empty bowl to Zhou Zisheng.

Teacher Huang was stunned: "Huh? This is already finished."

“The other bowl is Fang Songxia’s,” Wen Han said matter-of-factly. “I ate two bowls by myself, but I can give him the soy milk.”

Zhou Zisheng shouted, "Teacher Wen Han doesn't like soy milk!"

——

"I'm so sorry, teacher," Wen Qingke said, bowing and scraping. "I'll talk to him about it when I get back."

"It's alright, it's just a little squabble between kids," Teacher Huang said. "Wen Han, you're not allowed to hit your classmates anymore, understand?"

"Okay." Wen Han hurried off to feed the little rabbit.

The kindergarten has two little rabbits, and many children asked their parents to bring leafy greens.

Wen Han was waiting in line to feed the rabbits when Fang Songxia came over and hugged his arm. "Wen Han, thank you."

"Shall we play together forever from now on?"

Wen Han glanced at him, unusually kind enough not to look down on him.
