Chapter 54 We're a couple, are you alright?
What do you mean by that?
He should have stayed at the Jing family's house and not gone out today. Seeing that everyone around him was staring at him without moving, Wen Han had no choice but to tell them about Liu Chuanze in advance in order to save his own life.
“Not long ago, I suddenly wanted to visit the house where I lived when I was a child.” Wen Han began to lie. “The lady of the house recognized me and invited me in. I saw her son there.”
Wen Qingke immediately felt a little uncomfortable.
"When I saw him, I thought he looked a bit like Gu Cheng. There was only one woman in the house, so I tested him and found out that he was indeed a child of the Gu family."
Gu Cheng's expression instantly became subtle. Afraid they might misunderstand, Wen Han quickly added, "However, although he looks like Gu Cheng, his character and personality are impeccable. That child has excellent grades, is very gentlemanly, kind, helpful, and considerate of his mother..."
"Wait a minute." Wen Qingke's focus was unusual. "That child, Wen Han, how much younger is he than you?"
“He…” Wen Han hesitated, “Although he’s only in the first year of junior high, he might be taller than me now.”
Wen Ruan and Wen Ruo looked at him with complicated expressions. Wen Han knew that he had just graduated from elementary school in the first year of junior high school. If he were an adult, he would probably be invited for tea. But if he didn't insist that he and Liu Chuanze were a couple, he would be in big trouble. So he argued, "It's only a four-year age difference! It's normal."
"Is it about age now?" Seeing the Wen family's topic veer off course, Gu Yuan asked incredulously, "How could my brother have an illegitimate child?"
Gu Cheng and Gu Zong had a so-so relationship, and he didn't really want this father, but having another person vying for the family fortune was a different matter. He opened his mouth and cursed, "Have you no shame for doing something like this?"
"Alright, Gu Cheng," Gu Yuan advised, "We haven't even confirmed whether that child is from the Gu family yet. Maybe he's lying."
Of course, Wen Han couldn't admit that he and Jing Yu had already taken Liu Chuanze's DNA for testing, so he could only pretend to be mute.
He thought Gu Zong would be furious or incredulous that he suddenly had a child he had never met. He only asked Wen Han one question: "Is he an Alpha?"
"...Yes." Sure enough, even rich people will prioritize A over B.
"Let him come over." Gu Zong ignored the angry and disappointed looks in Gu Yuan and Gu Cheng's eyes. "Let me see what this child is like."
——
Wen Han wanted to go out to call Liu Ruyan, but was stopped by someone. Gu Zong smiled and said, "Address."
Although he was smiling, it was obvious to the naked eye that he was in a bad mood.
Wen Han sat in the chair feeling like each day was an eternity, and could only pray in her heart that she could get away with it later.
During the holiday, Liu Chuanze was playing basketball at the basketball court near his apartment complex. On his way home, he noticed several incongruous men in black standing near his house. Since Liu Ruyan was at work and wouldn't be back until late at night, he turned and ran, but the men noticed him. Liu Chuanze immediately fought with them, but there were too many of them, and he was eventually forcibly taken into their car.
"Damn, they're too ruthless!" Wen Han didn't expect Liu Chuanze to be tied up like a pretzel, with thick black cloths tied around his mouth and eyes, and he was lying on the ground struggling.
He soon found out why. The bodyguard tried to untie him, but Liu Chuanze noticed and kicked him hard, causing him to immediately clutch his stomach and squat down.
Wen Han: "......"
He slowly walked over, squatted down, and carefully covered Liu Chuanze's cheek with the cloth, loosening it to meet Liu Chuanze's highly vigilant eyes filled with deep hatred.
Upon seeing that it was Wen Han, Liu Chuanze was stunned, and his previously struggling body returned to calm.
Wen Han did this for a reason; he removed the cloth from his eyes, but showed no intention of loosening the cloth from his mouth.
"Baby, are you alright?" Wen Han suppressed the urge to hit herself and whispered, "I was so scared when you weren't here."
Wen Ruan suspected there was something wrong with her ears.
Liu Chuanze was stunned. Wen Han then removed the gag from his mouth and helped him up: "Tell my father that you were with me willingly, right?"
Before Liu Chuanze could figure out what was going on, Wen Han supported him and secretly pinched his waist, saying, "Tell me quickly."
Liu Chuanze swallowed hard and slowly asked, "Which one is your father?"
Wen Han pointed with satisfaction at Wen Qingke, who was staring blankly at her: "That's him."
“Yes.” Liu Chuanze readily admitted, “I begged Wen Han to be with me, not coerced me.”
Wen Han gave a forced smile, and the following sentence was completely unnecessary!
He helped Liu Chuanze untie the thick tape binding his body; with so many layers, he was practically wrapped up like a mummy.
Gu Yuan and Gu Cheng didn't laugh, not because they thought it was nothing, but because they were stunned by Liu Chuanze's appearance.
Since differentiating into an Alpha, Liu Chuanze hadn't seen Wen Han for a while. He had grown rapidly; before, he wasn't even as tall as Wen Han, and his face was as youthful as a primary school student's. Now, he was not only the same height as Wen Han, but his features were also sharper and more handsome, unlike Gu Cheng's roguish appearance. In fact, he probably looked more like Gu Zong's child than Gu Cheng did.
To show that they were indeed a close "couple," Wen Han even helped him tidy up his messy clothes.
For some reason, Liu Chuanze smelled like he had just exercised, with a scent of pheromones on his body. However, it wasn't the pungent tobacco smell like Gu Cheng's, but rather the fresh and elegant plant fragrance that Wen Han liked, a faint scent of grass mixed with a subtle sweetness.
So this is what bellflowers smell like, but they don't smell as good as Jingyu's.
"Host, you're not in the perfume business."
"I'm just checking it out!"
Wen Qingke seemed stunned and hadn't reacted yet. Gu Zong calmly asked, "Your name is Liu Chuanze?"
Liu Chuanze recognized his face, but he clearly had no intention of acknowledging Gu Zong, and said in a rather indifferent tone, "Hmm."
As her subordinate handed over the documents, Wen Han was surprised that Liu Chuanze's information had been collected in such a short time. Gu Zong flipped through them and glanced at them.
Gu Cheng was very hostile to Liu Chuanze, and Wen Han was really afraid that Gu Cheng would hit him, so she held Liu Chuanze tightly in her arms.
"Your grades are very good." Gu Zong didn't press Liu Chuanze about who his mother was or when this happened; he was simply satisfied with his experiences.
"Go get a blood test tomorrow."
Gu Yuan exclaimed excitedly, "Brother, you also suspect that he's not a member of the Gu family, right?"
"They look so alike, does he, a middle school student, really need to get plastic surgery?" Gu Zong said indifferently, "It's just a matter of whether his genes are good enough."
You'd think they were looking at merchandise if you didn't know better. Wen Han suddenly remembered that the reason Gu Cheng had a tense relationship with his father in the drama was that Gu Zong didn't have much affection for the child at all. He only helped Gu Cheng clean up his messes because Gu Cheng was the only heir of the Gu family.
Gu Cheng had always grown up by Gu Zong's side, while Liu Chuanze was just a sudden appearance, and in Gu Zong's eyes, there was no difference. He treated his two sons equally—like strangers.
In some ways, Liu Chuanze was a bit luckier than Gu Cheng, at least Liu Ruyan was a normal person.
——
With Wen Han's interference, it was clearly impossible to finish discussing Gu Cheng and Wen Ruan's matter today. The butler arranged rooms for them; everyone else had their own room, but Wen Han and Liu Chuanze were given a small room.
The butler said coldly, "Anyway, you two are a couple, aren't you?"
“That’s right, we are.” Wen Han laughed. “Sigh, it’s no use showing me a long face. Blame your young master for being so useless.”
The butler's face was even uglier than a zombie's. Today, his mind had already replayed several episodes of the story of the evil Wen Han's boundless ambition, colluding with the shameless bastard Liu Chuanze to plunder the Gu family's property, and finally driving out the legitimate heir Gu Cheng and the kind-hearted wife Wen Ruan.
Wen Han closed the door and lay down on the bed, sighing. Liu Chuanze squatted down beside the bed and looked at him: "You really hate that old man?"
"Don't call him grandpa, call him old man." Wen Han made him look around. "People are ostracizing us, we're disliked."
Liu Chuanze said seriously, "Then it must be his fault."
"Of course, how could it be my fault?"
Yanagawa asked, "Why did you just now—"
Wen Han quickly covered his mouth and then wandered around the room.
"System, is there a listening device?"
"No."
"Is anyone eavesdropping?"
"No."
Wen Han lay back down on the bed and began to explain everything to Liu Chuanze in detail, even including the DNA theory he had presented on the table.
"What?" Liu Chuanze raised his eyebrows. "Their family is breaking the law. How can such a thing still happen in modern society? How can they let a high school student like you marry him?"
Wen Han nodded repeatedly: "That's right, that's right."
"Wen Ruan shouldn't have married Gu Cheng either; she should have waited until she was an adult."
Wen Han changed her tone: "I think this is a good idea."
"Why?" Liu Chuanze didn't understand. "If Wen Ruan didn't have to marry Gu Cheng, wouldn't your troubles be solved?"
“Wen Ruan is a huge problem in my family.” If we don’t take advantage of this opportunity to dump her on the Gu family, when will we? Wen Han stammered, “And there’s also eight million involved.”
"What eight million?"
Wen Han chuckled awkwardly, "This is a bit complicated. By the way, does Aunt Liu know you're here? Should we give her a call?"
"No, is this your phone?"
"It's my dad's." Liu Chuanze briefly explained the situation to Liu Ruyan and then returned the phone to Wen Han.
Liu Chuanze saw Wen Han take the phone and press a few more buttons, seemingly unsure who she was going to call.
"Hey." He heard Wen Han sigh, "Jing Yu, let me tell you, I'm just so unlucky!"
Liu Chuanze suddenly grabbed the phone, so Wen Han had to push him away with one hand while telling Jing Yu what had happened.
"Okay, then you—" Before he could finish speaking, Wen Qingke's old-fashioned cell phone ran out of battery.
Wen Han cursed, "This crappy phone."
Why were you causing trouble just now?

Author's Note: [Cracking] I don't know if it's because I write campus novels, but last night I dreamt that I had a severe case of hysteria. In my third year of university, I chose to repeat my senior year of high school, only to find that the college entrance exam had been reformed and all subjects were now on the test! And then I was filled with utter despair, not regretting a single question...
[Okay] But thankfully it was just a dream!
