Chapter 16 Ghost!
Xu Niannian was sitting in the classroom reading for the morning class, her mind wandering. Everyone else was reading, but she had a book in front of her, but she couldn't concentrate on reading a single word.
She has been nervous for several days. From the initial panic and sleepless nights, she has calmed down a little now.
She'd spent the past two days processing the reality of her rebirth, feeling both terrified and excited. God had indeed shown a way, giving her a second chance. She wouldn't be sold to that remote mountain village again, locked in a woodshed, starved, tortured and abused daily. Only after she'd grown terrified and resigned herself to her fate, bearing child after child, did her family finally allow her to move around the house. But the daily chores and farm work were endless, and she was truly terrified. For ten years, a full ten years, she was like a soulless animal, tormented day after day in that desolate, remote place. Finally, unable to bear it any longer, she drank pesticide. In her final moments, she seemed to see the officer she'd seen in the newspapers approaching her. This man was her salvation, she wondered, but why hadn't he found her sooner? Perhaps her fate would have been different.
Fortunately, she was reborn and changed her fate! For the past two days, she has been jumping back and forth between the panic of her previous life and the joy of changing her fate in this life.
It wasn't until this morning that she realized that when she was trying to escape, in order to avoid being caught by human traffickers, she instinctively tricked a girl into entering the alley where her misfortune began.
But she quickly found some solace. The fact that something like rebirth could happen to her meant she was the lucky protagonist in a storybook. And since she was the protagonist, there had to be supporting characters to complement her. Besides, if she didn't run, both of them would be arrested. And she'd called the police, hadn't she?
Her mind was very confused at the time, but she was also extremely persistent. She was determined to do everything she could to stay alive and live a good life.
After dragging the girl inside, she ran home as fast as she could and used a handful of candy to trick her brother Xu Yaozu into the path the traffickers had to take. She told him to wait there, saying she would buy him some meat buns.
Her parents favor boys over girls. If they didn't have this son, would she, their only daughter, not have to work every day and be beaten? Would she not have to drop out of school?
She hid in the dark and saw with her own eyes that stupid brother being kidnapped by human traffickers with a toy. She waited until they were far away before she quietly slipped back to school. After she had done all this, she came to her senses and realized what she had done.
To prevent the case from being traced back to her, Xu Niannian went to the police station to report the case. She said that human traffickers might have abducted her classmate and her brother was missing.
This way, she is safe.
After sorting out her memories, she felt relieved, a slight smile appeared on the corner of her mouth, and she relaxed completely.
She was a person who carried the memories of the last ten years, and she was reborn, so she would definitely live a good life. And she hoped to meet the man she met on her deathbed again.
Wen Zhu walked towards his own classroom and passed by the classroom of Grade 9 (2). He immediately saw the girl who was sitting by the window in a daze.
Xu Niannian.
She is so eye-catching, not because she is beautiful, but because she is so different.
A coat that has turned pale from washing, and a face that is pale and thin.
None of this mattered. After all, everyone's life was pretty much the same back then, so wearing old clothes wouldn't really stand out. The key point was that when others were reading, she looked like she'd been through something, staring, terrified, and dazed. It was incredibly abrupt.
Wen Zhu paused for a moment and saw that the girl, who had originally frowned and clenched her fists in thought, suddenly raised the corners of her mouth and smiled in an extremely creepy way.
At this moment, Wen Zhu suddenly approached the glass window with an expressionless face, pressed his face against it, then raised his hand and knocked on the window.
He mouthed, "Give me back my life."
Xu Niannian was startled. She turned sideways and saw Wen Zhu's familiar, scarred face. Suddenly, she remembered the beautiful girl she had dragged into the alley a few days ago. Her hair stood on end! She screamed, "Ghost!!!" and was so frightened that she didn't know where to hide.
The teacher sitting on the podium had already noticed that Xu Niannian was not in the right state. She looked like she was possessed by an evil spirit, with a variety of facial expressions that made her frown.
At this moment, she could no longer endure it. She picked up a piece of chalk and threw it straight at Xu Niannian's forehead. It hit her forehead with a loud bang. Her roar echoed throughout the classroom. The whole classroom suddenly fell silent, and only the teacher's roar remained. "Xu Niannian, what's wrong with you? I've tolerated you for a long time! If you don't want to study, pack up your bedding and go home immediately. Don't waste your time and youth here and affect others!"
The teacher yelled, "Which class are you from? Why are you hanging around instead of going to morning reading?"
When the teacher chased her out, Wen Zhu had already returned to the door of Class 3 (1). She shouted "Report!" and then waited for the teacher's reprimand and the classmates' disgusted eyes like in her previous life. But she didn't care, she was used to it anyway.
The teacher was a female teacher in her twenties. When she saw Wen Zhu standing at the door, she was surprised at first, then a gentle smile appeared on her face. She then used a pause gesture to let the students stop reading aloud, and then spoke aloud again.
"Classmates, let us give a warm round of applause to welcome Wen Zhu back to campus!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the students burst into warm applause.
Looking at those pairs of curious, inquiring, concerned and worried eyes, Wen Zhu felt a little uncomfortable, and his ears turned red.
He said "thank you," then sat back in his seat under everyone's scorching gazes, and picked up a book to hide his helplessness.
My deskmate was a cute girl with a round face and big eyes named Zhou Xiaoju. She quietly asked from behind a book, "Wen Zhu, it's great that you're back. We were all worried about you."
"Thanks."
The girl with long braids in the back seat handed her a small note. Wen Zhu saw that it said, "Welcome back! Feel free to ask us if you have any questions! We can also lend you our notes. Don't worry about falling behind in your studies."
Wen Zhu carefully put the note into his pocket and replied with a note saying, "Thank you."
The boy on the left was a little shy and just nodded at Wen Zhu, and Wen Zhu nodded in response.
Wen Zhu was very busy during the morning reading and was busy saying thank you.
After returning, Wen Zhu was greeted with enthusiastic care from her classmates. She was actually a little uncomfortable with this, but she responded to each one. It was a novel feeling.
It turns out that not all people harbor malicious intent. They won't deliberately mention the scars on her face, won't gossip about whether she's been abused by bad people, and certainly won't treat her coldly.
She felt like her heart was about to float up, just like when she was cared for and comforted by her family, as if it was wrapped in warm water, supported and warm, and her throat was beating non-stop.
In fact, Wen Zhu had never been very close to these classmates before. After all, she was a good girl in this world. She followed the rules, did not cause trouble, did not make trouble, did not take the initiative to make friends, and was indifferent to everyone.
So I didn't expect that so many people cared about her.
The teacher was standing on the podium and could actually see the students' little movements at a glance. For some reason, he not only did not expose them, but also walked out the door, giving them room to care.
The head teacher of Class 3 (2) next door walked to the door of Class 1 angrily and asked, "Teacher Zheng, was there a student in your class who was late just now? I don’t know which bastard was scaring us at the window just now, and he even dared to run away. If I catch him, I will tell the Dean of Academic Affairs and punish him severely!"
Teacher Zheng adjusted his glasses and smiled sincerely, "I didn't notice. We are all good students in this class and we all study hard. Maybe he ran down the stairs from our side. Teacher Yan, why don't you go to the first floor and ask?"
