Chapter 19: If You Can't Win, Lie Down
Zhou Xiaoju snatched the note from the short-haired girl when she was not paying attention.
Zhang Erya was furious when she saw her belongings were snatched away, and she tried to grab it back. Zhou Xiaoju was afraid that the evidence would be destroyed, so she stuffed it into the hands of Wen Zhu, who was on the upper bunk.
"Why did you steal my things?" the short-haired girl was angry.
"You picked it up, it's not yours, don't think I don't know! And you still say bad things about people behind their backs, you shameless person!"
The two of them were like fighting cocks, neither willing to give in and could start fighting at any time.
Seeing that the situation was not right, the girl with long hair immediately grabbed the girl with short hair and stopped her from causing trouble. However, when people are angry, the more they try to stop the fight, the angrier it gets.
Zhang Erya was strong and grabbed Zhou Xiaoju's hair, causing her to scream in pain. Although she was small, most girls at that time worked on the farm and were not very strong. She grabbed her hair with her backhand and scratched Zhang Erya's face, leaving several nail marks.
Wen Zhu interrupted her thoughts when Zhou Xiaoju yelled and started to climb out of bed. Seeing Zhou Xiaoju being pulled by the hair by the sturdy girl, she hurried over to help. However, the two of them were grappling in a ball, and with her small body, she couldn't hold Zhang Erya down or pull them apart.
If you can't pull it apart, you can only join it.
After being hit several times and having some hair pulled out, Wen Zhu finally found an opportunity to press hard on Zhang Erya's painful point. Zhang Erya immediately let go of her hand in pain, and sat on the ground with a cry of "wow" holding her stomach and crying. No one could pull her up.
But Wen Zhu lay down before her, motionless, eyes closed. That damn girl was too strong, and she couldn't beat her, so she had to lie down first.
Everyone's attention was drawn to Wen Zhu, and they were all terrified. However, Zhang Erya, who was screaming loudly, was ignored by many. After all, being able to cry and howl meant that there wasn't much of a problem. It was the stillness that was frightening.
Zhang Erya cried heartbreakingly, "I must have injured my internal organs. Oh my God, which bastard hit me? I'm going to tell the teacher. I'm going to tell my dad to beat you to death. Ah, it hurts so much. Send me to the hospital quickly. I'm going to die..."
The female classmates around and farther away had already gathered over because of the noise. Xu Niannian stood quietly behind the crowd, observing everything quietly and gritting her teeth.
Zhang Erya, that idiot, didn't even bother to say bad things about people behind their backs, and she even went to the person's bedside to say them.
Her original plan was for Zhang Erya to find her apology letter to Wen Zhu. Zhang Erya, with her big mouth, would undoubtedly tell everyone in the dormitory, including students from every class and grade. By tomorrow, the entire school would know that Wen Zhu had been raped and violated. However, her letter didn't explicitly state that, simply expressing her "worry" about Wen Zhu's abduction. Even if they found out she had written the letter, she had apologized "kindly" and didn't say a single bad word about Wen Zhu.
But she heard the whispers of people around her, "What's going on?"
"Hush, that girl with the ointment on her face. I heard she was trafficked and raped?"
"I also heard that it was because she was not disciplined."
"Who told you that?"
"People saw her being dragged away by human traffickers. She was rescued several days later. Is there any need to explain what happened?"
"She's so miserable. If it were me, I wouldn't be ashamed to go back to school."
After hearing this, she felt relieved. Although the process was not exactly as expected, the desired effect was achieved in the end.
The girls' dormitory was in chaos, and the barrage of comments was also busy.
Does anyone think that the heroine shouldn't focus on her studies and change her fate after being reborn? What is she thinking about every day? Why is she writing apology letters? Even the little cannon fodder doesn't want to pay attention to her.
She's just a teenager, what could she possibly think? It was just a small conflict between classmates, and she wrote an apology letter. Those NPCs are probably over-interpreting it.
But she was already 26 years old before her rebirth. Does that still count as a child? She's a giant baby! It's because of her that Little Cannon Fodder's reputation is ruined, and it's implicated others. She doesn't have the sense of justice of a heroine at all. I don't like her.
"You're righteous, go help her explain. The worst thing about things like this is that they spread rumors. It's just that she's cannon fodder, it's just bad luck."
[How can there be so many coincidences? Don't you think she did it on purpose?]
[How is that possible? She is the heroine.]
......
Xu Niannian quietly raised the corners of her lips.
If the school were to hold someone accountable, they would only look for the person who spread the rumor. Besides, how could she prove her innocence? How could one prove innocence?
It can't be proven.
In her previous life, after she gave birth to a child, she was actually allowed to contact her parents once, but they asked for a huge betrothal gift from that family. After being rejected, they gave her some hush money and told her to live a good life with the old man. Her mother said to her, "You have lost your innocence. What's the point of coming back? No one will want you even if you come back, and you won't be able to get married." And then the matter was left unresolved.
This was an unsolvable problem, and now it was Wen Zhu, not her, who had to face it. What could this good student, as the teacher called her, do? She could do nothing, just like she had in her previous life.
She retired, her success complete, waiting for Wen Zhu to be reviled, despised, and isolated. Who knew what would happen next? She only knew that once upon a time, a daughter-in-law in the village was criticized for being unfaithful, beaten and scolded by her in-laws, and disgraced by her own family. She went mad and fell into a river in a trance, drowning.
Everything will return to normal. The parents who lost their daughter, the brother who lost his sister, need a new sister.
She could visit him often as a classmate, and everything would go smoothly.
When Wen Zhu heard a classmate shout, "The teacher is here," she immediately stood up and dusted herself off. Everyone was relieved to see she was fine. A classmate, concerned, asked her about her condition. Wen Zhu explained that she was just hurt and was lying down to relax. The classmate looked at her with a complicated expression and then left.
Wen Zhu listened to Zhou Xiaoju explain the whole story to her. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Xu Niannian in the crowd of onlookers and understood. Zhang Erya was just being used as a pawn.
The teacher who was inspecting the dormitory at night had just finished inspecting the boys' dormitory when he heard the girls' dormitory crying and making a lot of noise. He hurried over to check the situation.
"What's going on? You're not sleeping at night and you want to go outside and do horse stances, right?"
"Teacher, the two of them stole my things and beat me up. My stomach hurts so much, I feel like I'm going to die from the pain."
The discipline inspector immediately asked the dormitory head about the situation. Seeing that Zhang Erya was indeed in great pain and did not seem to be faking it, he arranged for the dormitory head to enforce discipline and asked a male teacher to help take Zhang Erya to the hospital to see a doctor, so as to avoid the school being held responsible if something really happened.
Before leaving, he scolded Wen Zhu and Zhou Xiaoju, "If anything goes wrong, you two will have to pay for it! After morning reading tomorrow, be conscientious and report to the dean."
Zhou Xiaoju was terribly worried. How could Zhang Erya, such a big girl, be so vulnerable? She couldn't figure it out, but she was still worried. What if something happened to her?
Wen Zhu saw that she was tossing and turning nervously and couldn't sleep. He comforted her, "It's okay, maybe they will be back soon. Did you hit her in the stomach?"
Zhou Xiaoju shook her head, and Wen Zhu said, "I didn't hit her either. Look, neither of us hit her. She must have been pretending. If you're worried, just listen. She'll be back alive and kicking in ten minutes."
After hearing this, Zhou Xiaoju felt relieved and kept an eye on the movements at the door.
Before she even reached the school gate, Zhang Erya's pain was gone. She touched her stomach, feeling a bit puzzled. But going to the hospital would cost her money and she would be scolded by her mother. And if the examination didn't find anything wrong, she would be scolded even more harshly by the teacher. So she could only tell the truth, "Teacher, um, my stomach doesn't hurt anymore."
The teacher's eyes darkened with anger, and she nearly fainted. "Go back to bed now, and go to the dean's office after morning reading tomorrow!"
The dormitory was already quiet. Zhang Erya pushed the door open and came in. Zhou Xiaoju heard it immediately. She took a quick look and then felt relieved. She couldn't help but admire her deskmate even more!
