Chapter 43 He is the adulterer
Qin Yan!
"No wonder they were sneaking around behind the willow tree for a secret rendezvous. It turns out that this man is Xia Qianqian's lover in the city!" Huang Zhaodi muttered under her breath, her face full of jealousy and disdain upon hearing Qin Yan's name.
Looking at Qin Yan's tall and imposing figure, Huang Zhaodi's jealousy burned even more fiercely.
Xia Qianqian, that shameless vixen, is always flirting with other women. She has such a good lover and still can't be honest; she's even trying to seduce Brother Lu! She's utterly shameless!
Her hands unconsciously clenched into fists. Huang Zhaodi secretly vowed: Today, she would do whatever it took to break through this barrier and let Brother Lu and Qin Yan see Xia Qianqian's true colors!
She, who was originally in a hurry to go and complain to Lu Zheng, is no longer in a hurry.
She followed behind the brigade secretary, wanting to see where they were going.
As they walked, Huang Zhaodi was pleasantly surprised to find that they were heading towards the Lu family's residence.
Her eyes lit up instantly, and she was overjoyed: It's like God is on my side!
"Comrade Qin, this is the Lu family's residence. Would you like me to accompany you inside?" the brigade secretary said to Qin Yan, standing at the entrance of the Lu family's courtyard.
Qin Yan nodded slightly, glanced at the Lu family's courtyard, and asked, "Is Lu Zheng home?"
The brigade secretary said, "No work was scheduled for the dam today. I guess Lu Zheng went to work in the fields. Judging by the time, it's almost noon. He should be back soon."
As they were talking, they saw Lu Zheng carrying a hoe and walking towards them from a distance.
The brigade secretary quickly raised his hand and called out, "Lu Zheng, Comrade Qin from the city is here to see you!"
Lu Zheng felt a slight chill; he hadn't expected the provincial capital to act so quickly. He quickened his pace and approached Qin Yan, nodding slightly and saying in a neither humble nor arrogant tone, "Hello, Comrade Qin, let's go inside and talk."
After saying that, he stepped aside and gestured for them to proceed.
Qin Yan followed Lu Zheng into the courtyard. When Lu's mother saw her son bring in a stranger, she immediately understood that the inspectors from the provincial capital had arrived.
A hint of nervousness flashed in her eyes as she called the two children over and said softly, "Good children, come with Grandma to the kitchen to prepare the meal. Don't go to the front and disturb your father and the guests."
Daya and Erya nodded obediently and followed behind their mother into the kitchen.
Lu Zheng gestured for Qin Yan to sit down at the table.
Qin Yan straightened his crisp green military uniform, turned to the brigade secretary and said, "Secretary, thank you for leading the way. Comrade Lu and I have some things to discuss privately, so please go ahead and do your work."
Looking at Qin Yan's imposing military uniform and his unquestionable demeanor, the brigade secretary felt a little intimidated and hurriedly nodded, saying, "Okay, okay. I won't bother you any longer."
After saying that, he left the Lu family.
While the others weren't paying attention, Huang Zhaodi returned to her own home and peered into the Lu family's courtyard through a crack in the wall.
Lu Zheng turned around and poured a cup of hot tea, placing it in front of Qin Yan. Qin Yan picked up the teacup, took a sip, cleared his throat, and said, "Comrade Lu, you should have received the telegram by now."
He took out his letter of introduction from his jacket pocket, handed it to Lu Zheng, and said, "I am here on behalf of the Provincial Revolutionary Committee. Please tell me the truth as required by the document."
He then took out a document stamped with a red clay seal from his briefcase and handed it to Lu Zheng.
Lu Zheng took the document from Qin Yan and began to study it carefully with focused attention. After reading it, his brow furrowed slightly. It turned out that the situation had changed again, and the higher-ups were scrutinizing people like them more rigorously. The document explicitly required that people like them, whose family backgrounds were different, have their previous statements re-verified and accurately categorized.
After Lu Zheng put down the documents in his hand, Qin Yan asked, "Comrade Lu, how long will it take you to finish writing the materials? I have to take the documents and head back this afternoon."
Lu Zheng thought for a moment and replied, "Comrade Qin, if you are in a hurry to go back, I will prepare the materials as soon as possible."
After saying that, he got up, picked up the teapot, and poured Qin Yan another cup of water. Then, he casually chatted with Qin Yan, subtly inquiring about Qin Yan's background.
When Lu Zheng learned that Qin Yan was not a local of the provincial capital, but had recently been transferred there for work, he immediately made a plan.
It seemed that Qin Yan was not yet fully aware of the complex situation in the provincial capital, and had not yet sided with any faction. So, while chatting leisurely with Qin Yan about the various changes in the provincial capital, he picked up a pen and began writing reports on paper.
An hour later, Lu Zheng put down his pen and handed the completed document to Qin Yan: "Comrade Qin, would you like to see if what I wrote is acceptable?"
Qin Yan was only instructed to collect the materials, and he wasn't sure if Lu Zheng's writing met the requirements. Eager to prove himself, he said, "Since you've finished writing, I'll take these materials back. This is an opportunity for you to explain your problems. You need to clarify everything so that your issues can be accurately categorized. Do you think you've explained everything clearly?"
As he spoke, he pointed to the few pages of manuscript paper on the table.
Lu Zheng was perfectly aware of Qin Yan's little scheme; he saw right through it. Qin Yan was clearly trying to trick him, and these tactics were child's play in his eyes. He remained expressionless, simply nodding slightly.
Just then, the door was pushed open, and Xia Qianqian walked in.
Her bright eyes widened instantly; she never expected that Lu Zheng would be sitting with Qin Yan.
Could it be that the official business Qin Yan mentioned was actually to see Lu Zheng?
Lu Zheng had mentioned to her before that the province would send someone to ask him to explain his problems. So it seems that Qin Yan in front of her is that person.
If I plead with Qin Yan on my behalf, will he lend a hand to Lu Zheng?
No matter what, we have to try to know the result.
She asked, "The official business you mentioned earlier, is it to pick up these materials? What are these materials for?"
When Qin Yan saw Xia Qianqian suddenly appear, he assumed she had come specifically to find him, and said in a good mood, "I didn't expect you to come looking for me. Have you packed your things? We'll head back to the city this afternoon."
Xia Qianqian shook her head: "I don't plan to go back with you."
She paused, then steered the conversation back to the previous question: "What do you want to do with these materials? I know some information. If you can speak up for Lu Zheng, I can exchange this information with you."
