Chapter 86 Hunting in the Mountains, it's all mine!
Lu Zheng pointed to a spot not far behind him.
Xia Qianqian looked in the direction he pointed, and her eyes lit up immediately. She saw several grapevines climbing on the rocks, covered with bunches of dark purple and shiny wild grapes that looked very juicy.
She felt a surge of joy in her heart. Taking advantage of the moment when Lu Zheng turned around to look for other wild fruits, she quickly muttered "collect" in her mind!
Those grapevines, along with the soil beneath them, vanished into thin air, as if they had never existed.
Xia Qianqian suppressed her excitement and pretended to continue eating as if nothing had happened.
Just then, Lu Zheng picked some bright red hawthorns from somewhere and handed them to her, adding, "These are a bit sour, but they're very appetizing."
Xia Qianqian smiled and took it, popping one into her mouth.
"Hiss—" The sour taste instantly shot from the tip of her tongue to the top of her head, making her grimace.
Seeing her like this, Lu Zheng couldn't help but chuckle softly.
Xia Qianqian rolled her eyes at him, her cheeks still slightly puffed out from the sour feeling.
Lu Zheng quickly flattered, "If you like it, we can pick more and stir-fry them with sugar to make candied hawthorns. The taste is guaranteed to be good!"
Xia Qianqian nodded and let him pick a bagful before continuing on her way.
Taking advantage of Lu Zheng's inattention, she secretly glanced back at the fruit tree and silently repeated in her mind, "Harvest!"
The mountain mangrove tree, laden with red berries, also quietly entered her paradise.
After doing all this, Xia Qianqian couldn't hide the smile on her lips. Now, Peach Blossom Spring has gained a new treasure!
She secretly clenched her fist, her eyes sparkling with excitement, and she didn't even feel the soreness in her legs anymore.
"Ugh!" Just then, a dark shadow darted past her feet, and Xia Qianqian cried out in fright.
"What's wrong?" Lu Zheng quickly turned around, then couldn't help but chuckle: Don't be afraid, it's a rabbit. Wait for me, I'll go catch it right now!
After saying that, he lifted his long legs and chased after him.
Xia Qianqian's eyes lit up; it was actually a plump wild rabbit!
If she could take it to the Peach Blossom Spring and raise it there… she felt an instant urge to do so, and without thinking, she chased after Lu Zheng in the direction he had left.
"Why are you here?" Lu Zheng was tying the rabbit down to the tree by its hind legs when he saw Xia Qianqian chasing after him, panting. A hint of surprise flashed in his eyes.
Xia Qianqian, panting, rolled her eyes and then said in a righteous and coquettish voice, "Didn't you say that I'm not allowed to leave your sight?"
Lu Zheng was taken aback, then chuckled: "It was my oversight."
He pointed to a spot not far away, "There's a pool of water here, let's rest here for a bit."
Xia Qianqian looked in the direction he pointed and noticed that there was indeed a small pool of water hidden in the clearing in the woods. The edge of the pool was covered with moss and looked cool.
"I'm so tired from walking." She was delighted and quickly walked to the pool, squatted down, scooped up a handful of water, and washed her face. The cool spring water lapped against her skin, instantly dispelling much of her fatigue.
As she was comfortably dozing off, she suddenly noticed several small fish, each about the size of a palm, swimming and swishing their tails in the shallow water.
Xia Qianqian's heart stirred. While Lu Zheng was focused on tying the rabbit with a rope, she quickly and silently chanted "Collect" in her mind, and the fish quietly entered Peach Blossom Spring.
The thought of having more fish in her paradise filled Xia Qianqian with joy. She wiped her hands clean and was about to turn around when a dark shadow, accompanied by a strong fishy smell, suddenly pounced on her from the side!
"careful!"
Xia Qianqian was so frightened that she was scared out of her wits. Before she could even scream, her wrist was violently pulled away by a huge force, and she staggered to the side.
Lu Zheng's roar and his charging figure arrived at the same time. He pushed Xia Qianqian away and faced the vicious wolf himself.
Xia Qianqian looked up, still shaken, and saw that the attacker was a wild wolf with bared fangs and a fierce look in its eyes. No wonder Lu Zheng said it was dangerous to go into the mountains; they hadn't gone far before encountering such a ferocious beast!
The wolf was exceptionally ferocious. After being punched several times by Lu Zheng, it not only did not retreat, but became even more ferocious, opening its blood-red maw again to pounce on him, determined to tear him to pieces.
Dust billowed in the forest as the man and the wolf locked in combat, their fists and claws clashing, producing dull thuds. Xia Qianqian watched Lu Zheng dodge and weave under the wolf's claws, her heart pounding in her chest, so tense she forgot to breathe.
She was frantic, pacing back and forth, grabbing a stone from the ground to help, but afraid of accidentally hurting Lu Zheng, she cried out anxiously, "Lu Zheng! What should I do? Is there anything I can do to help you?"
Lu Zheng nimbly dodged the wolf's fatal pounce, then delivered a powerful punch to its head. He turned back and yelled at her, "Don't come any closer! I've dealt with beasts far more ferocious than this before! You stay put, I'm fine!"
His voice was steady and powerful, like a shot of adrenaline, calming Xia Qianqian's flustered heart.
Xia Qianqian knew she couldn't be of much help here and might only cause trouble for Lu Zheng, so she obediently walked to the back.
Seeing the direction Xia Qianqian was heading, the wolf attacked even more fiercely, almost as if it had no regard for its own life.
The wolf was tightly entangled by Lu Zheng. Several times it tried to turn around and pounce on Xia Qianqian, but he blocked it each time. It couldn't break free at all and could only let out angry growls.
Xia Qianqian retreated behind a large tree, finally finding a relatively safe place. Her heart pounded as she nervously watched the battle unfold, silently praying for Lu Zheng's safety.
At this moment, the battle was raging.
The wolf let out a mournful howl, opened its blood-red maw, revealing sharp fangs, and bit down hard on Lu Zheng's neck!
At the critical moment, Lu Zheng pulled out a thick wooden stick from somewhere, seized the opportunity, and with all his might, plunged the stick straight into the wolf's throat!
"Awooo—" The wolf let out a short, painful howl, its massive body twitched a few times, and then it collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
Xia Qianqian's stomach churned at the sudden bloody scene. She couldn't help but cover her mouth and quickly lower her head, unable to bear watching any longer.
Just as she was still in shock, she suddenly felt a warm touch on the back of her hand.
She looked over in confusion and saw a furry little creature rubbing against her feet, gently licking the back of her hand with its pink little tongue.
The little guy seemed to realize he had been discovered, and his whole body trembled violently, like a frightened little furball.
Then it raised its big, wet eyes and looked timidly at Xia Qianqian, its little nose gently sniffing her fingertips, as if testing something and inviting her to touch it.
Xia Qianqian was already powerless against such soft and cute little animals. Seeing how well-behaved and lovable it was, her heart melted, and she couldn't help but reach out and gently stroke its fluffy little head.
