Chapter 113 Blue Sky is in trouble

The news that Baiyun was coming indeed excited the Guan family.

That night, the two went to bed more than half an hour later than usual.

In early spring in Northwest China, the nights are still chilly.

But the earthen kang (heated brick bed) inside was burning brightly, warm and cozy, even a bit hot.

Lying on the kang (a heated brick bed), Guan Wenru, whether dreaming or feeling too hot, lifted the quilt again, revealing her two fair and smooth legs.

The thin, floral cotton nightgown she was wearing now seemed like a constraint.

In her sleep, she shifted impatiently and mumbled incoherently.

Moonlight streamed through the small glass window, sparingly casting a sliver of its gentle glow, which fell precisely on Guan Wenru.

He Yanzhi lay at one end of the kang (a heated brick bed), his body taut and straight, like a brick placed on a hot stone slab.

Even from a distance, he could clearly see that patch of snow-white exposed to the cool air... the undulating curves faintly visible beneath the neckline of her nightgown.

The sight made He Yanzhi's throat tighten instantly, feeling as dry as if he had swallowed sand.

When will her sleeping posture improve?

Last time I covered her with a blanket, it caused a misunderstanding...

This time... he doesn't care anymore!

Thinking this, he suddenly closed his eyes and forced himself to turn his head away!

No, she'll catch a cold...

He Yanzhi kept thinking about this reason, as if trying to convince himself.

Hesitation clung to him like a vine.

Hearing her seemingly more steady breathing, he finally resigned himself to opening his eyes.

He gritted his teeth and sat up very slowly and carefully.

He tried his best to make no sound, moving quietly to Guan Wenru's side as if on a covert mission.

As they got closer, her unique scent filled his nostrils, causing his heart, which had just begun to calm, to race again.

He held his breath, trying his best to avoid the blinding whiteness, staring only at the quilt that had slipped off.

He reached out, his fingertips trembling slightly, and carefully pinched the corner of the blanket, his movements as gentle as if he were handling fragile porcelain.

He pulled upwards little by little, trying to cover the alluring yet dangerous spring light again.

Just as the blanket barely covered her chest, and He Yanzhi was about to breathe a sigh of relief and prepare to retreat—

A pair of arms wrapped around his waist without warning!

He Yanzhi's body stiffened abruptly, his blood seemingly freezing and then boiling in an instant.

He was frozen in place, unable to move, still bent over covering himself with the blanket.

Guan Wenru's cheek pressed against his, her warm, sleepy breath seeping through his thin shirt and soothing his heart.

Her movements were so natural, as if she were still fast asleep. She unconsciously hugged the "warm" thing beside her, and even rubbed against it contentedly, letting out a soft hum.

He Yanzhi's mind went blank.

A blank page!!!

Her soft body pressed tightly against him.

Her arm wasn't very strong, but it carried an inescapable attachment.

He could clearly feel the curves and temperature of her body, which instantly penetrated all his defenses like an electric current.

His cheeks felt as if they had been scorched by fire, burning hot instantly, and his heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was going to jump out of his throat.

She's awake?

Or is she really asleep?

He Yanzhi stood frozen in place, his mind racing, but in complete chaos.

Reason told him that he should immediately pull her hand away and go back to his own side.

But his body felt like it was filled with lead, so heavy that he couldn't lift a single muscle.

That soft touch and dependent posture were like a sweet poison, eroding all his willpower.

He dared not move, afraid that any movement would wake her, and also afraid that any movement would cause this brief, forbidden intimacy to disappear.

He eventually gave up trying to break free.

He lay down on his side with great difficulty, trying not to disturb the "Sleeping Beauty" in his arms.

Guan Wenru seemed quite satisfied with his "cooperation," tightening her arms around him and snuggling even closer into his embrace.

She found a more comfortable position, and her breathing became even and long again.

He Yanzhi, however, became completely sober.

He lay there stiffly, not daring to move, his body taut like a fully drawn bow.

Guan Wenru's head rested in the crook of his arm, her hair brushing against his chin, sending shivers of pleasure through his heart.

Every breath she took, every subtle movement she made, tickled his highly sensitive nerves like a feather.

For the first time, He Yanzhi felt... how long time had passed!

All his senses were focused on the person in his arms.

The night was cool and still warm, but he was trapped in this sweet cage, his heart burning with desire, yet he could only endure the torment.

...

He Yanzhi barely slept all night.

As Guan Wenru seemed to be waking up and her arm loosened slightly, he almost felt an electric shock, and with all his might, he very slowly and carefully pulled his arm out from under her neck…

He slowly moved his body away, retreating silently to the other end of the kang (a heated brick bed) as if fleeing a battlefield, lay down again, closed his eyes, and pretended to be fast asleep.

At the other end of the kang (a heated brick bed), Guan Wenru's eyelashes trembled slightly in the morning light, and a barely perceptible smile curved her lips before returning to calm.

She didn't know why she had hugged He Yanzhi last night, but she had definitely woken up just now.

I woke up in his arms!

This realization put her in a great mood. After about ten minutes, she pretended to have just woken up, tidied the bedding, and then went to the kitchen.

The moment she stepped out the door, He Yanzhi suddenly opened his eyes, his gaze clear.

The dark circles under his eyes were undeniable, and his mind was in turmoil!
