Chapter 13 Enjoying Food

The grandfather and grandson talked a lot about the horrors of the movement, and both of them became very depressed.

Guan Wanxin knew that her granddaughter was kind-hearted and wanted to help everyone change the outcome.

But how could she change anything on her own?

She has been through a lot and knows the conspiracy behind this movement better than anyone else.

This is not a simple critique at all.

There are too many twists and turns involved.

However, this is not something that ordinary people should know.

She didn't intend to say much to Guan Wenru, so she simply put her arm around her shoulder and softly comforted her:

“We’ll do our best. No matter which friend it is, just go and make a few more trips during this time. If they’re willing to listen to you, that’s great. But if they’re really stubborn, that’s their fate. Don’t worry too much about it.”

Guan Wenru hummed in agreement, not wanting to continue discussing such a heavy topic. "By the way, Grandma, what should we eat when Mom, Dad, and Hongqi come back later?"

In the days to come, my parents and Hongqi will definitely suffer a lot. I can't transfer this space to them. When they get there, their food and clothing will be vastly different from what they have now. I want them to eat well and drink well every day before they leave.

Guan Wanxin smiled and agreed with this view. "Alright, then I'll listen to you. Let them live a life of luxury. Let me see what good things you have in your space."

Guan Wenru immediately pulled Guan Wanxin to her feet.

The grandmother and grandson went to the restaurant.

The restaurant of this courtyard house is located in the main hall.

Their dining table is made of very precious rosewood.

After thinking for a moment, Guan Wenru laid out the roasted lamb leg, fried ribs, lobster, steamed crab, stewed beef, and large steamed buns from the space.

Seeing that she was about to take more, Guan Wanxin quickly stopped her, "Wenru, that's enough, that's enough. Let's eat this much for the rest of the day."

Guan Wenru brought out a lot of things.

Aunt Wang couldn't see what was in the room, so Guan Wenru went to the kitchen and got a delicate porcelain plate herself.

She placed each item on a plate, then threw the packaging boxes back into her storage space.

The space has an automatic waste disposal function.

When the empty box is thrown in, it transforms into a form of energy and disappears instantly.

Guan Wenru had just finished setting the plates when Guan Hongqi came home from school.

As soon as he rushed into the main room, he saw the things on the table.

He stared in disbelief, "Grandma, sister, where...where did these things come from? What are they?"

He rushed to the table and stared intently at the large lobster on the plate.

He had never seen food like this before; its shape was so strange.

Seeing his expression, Guan Wenru couldn't help but smile. "This is a big lobster. I'll teach you how to eat it in a bit. It's delicious."

During this special period, there is a shortage of supplies in China.

Things like lobsters simply don't exist.

Moreover, due to policy restrictions and the underdeveloped international trade over the past few decades, people in China have had very little access to seafood such as lobsters.

Guan Hongqi, however, was already attracted by the meat on the table.

He stared at the plate after plate of meat, his eyes gleaming.

Their family is certainly not short of money, but these days it's a planned economy era, and you need ration coupons to buy meat.

They can take the money to the black market to buy it, but it's not something they can just buy whenever they want.

Especially rare meats like lamb and beef!

So when Guan Hongqi saw beef and mutton, he would shamelessly swallow his saliva.

Guan Wanxin affectionately pinched his cheek, "What kind of behavior is this? People who don't know the situation might think our Guan family is starving you."

Guan Hongqi chuckled, completely unable to remain calm. "Grandma, where...where did all of these come from?"

Guan Wanxin and Guan Wenru exchanged a glance.

Guan Wanxin made up a story, "Of course, Grandma found a way to get it. Go out and see if your parents are back yet, and invite them over for dinner."

Guan Hongqi couldn't wait any longer, so he turned around and ran outside.

Guan Yuanxiu and Qin Yue had just entered the courtyard when Guan Hongqi eagerly pulled them towards the main hall.

Guan Wenru also came out and called Uncle Li and Aunt Wang inside.

Although Uncle Li and Aunt Wang were nominally servants, they had always eaten at the same table as the Guan family.

We all get along like a family.

There is never any distinction between high and low, noble and base.

Besides Guan Hongqi, Guan Yuanxiu, Qin Yue, Uncle Li, and Aunt Wang were all surprised by this meal.

The dishes on the table are so plentiful!

However, Guan Yuanxiu and the others were sensible; they all knew that Guan Wanxin had connections.

Perhaps... she got all this food through connections, which is why Guan Yuanxiu and the others just kept their heads down and ate, not daring to ask any questions.

Guan Hongqi is still young, and all her emotions are written on her face.

He took a bite of the lamb leg and was captivated by the flavor, closing his eyes to savor it.

After swallowing it, he couldn't wait to ask, "Grandma, if I ask for less pocket money in the future, can you get me more? This meat smells so good, it's making me dizzy!"

Guan Wanxin smiled, but she didn't say anything.

Guan Wenru, who was standing nearby, said, "If you agree to join the army, I'll let you eat this meat every day."

"Cough~" Guan Hongqi choked, and then he showed a look of horror. "Sister, this is not the first time you have said this. You are not serious, are you?"

"I've already told you, I'm going to university, I'm not going to join the army. Besides, look at my small frame, do you think I'm cut out for military service?"

Guan Wenru squinted and picked up a piece of beef for him. "Then eat more today. After this meal, you can only eat vegetarian food and whole grains for every meal."

Guan Hongqi's eyes widened, and he almost dropped his chopsticks. "Why?"
