Chapter 239 The panic in He Yan's eyes

Two weeks later.

In the corridor of the student dormitory building of Capital Medical University, Xi Mufan, dressed in simple clothes, had just returned from get out of class, carrying a few books and an envelope.

His classmate Zhang Jianjun was walking beside him, excitedly talking about something.

Zhang Jianjun pointed into the distance, "Mu Fan, look at the notice board! There's an anatomy lecture next weekend, I heard it's Professor Liu from Peking Union Medical College Hospital! We'd better get there early to get seats! If we're late, we won't even be able to squeeze through the door!"

"Hmm." Xi Mufan replied absentmindedly, "Okay, I understand."

His gaze fell on the envelope in his hand, and he paused slightly.

The handwriting on the envelope was neat and familiar.

It's a white cloud.

Zhang Jianjun noticed Xi Mufan stop and looked over as well. "Huh? A letter? From home? That's not right, your family is local. Looking at this stamp... from the Northwest? Where were you sent to work in the countryside?"

Xi Mufan did not answer, his expression instantly turning cold and serious, a barely perceptible pain flashing deep in his eyes.

He gripped the envelope tightly with his fingers, his knuckles turning slightly white.

Zhang Jianjun leaned closer to see the sender's name. "Who is it? Your expression is strange..."

Xi Mufan suddenly raised his hand, and before Zhang Jianjun could see the sender's name, he grabbed both ends of the envelope and tore it open without hesitation!

The paper made a sharp, ripping sound!

Then, with a few more blows, the envelope and the letter inside instantly turned into shreds!

Xi Mufan didn't even look at it, and casually threw a handful of scraps of paper into the open metal trash can at the end of the corridor!

Paper scraps drifted down.

Zhang Jianjun was dumbfounded, completely unable to react. "I...I swear! Xi Mufan! What are you doing?! A letter! It's a letter! Who wrote it? Why did you tear it up?! You haven't even read it yet!"

Xi Mufan had already turned around, his face expressionless, his voice cold and unapproachable:

"It's nothing, just a prank by an insignificant person."

He quickened his pace and said, "Jianjun, have you finished writing the slide report for this afternoon's lab class? Hurry up and get to the lab; the professor said he'll check the pre-lab reports in advance."

Still in shock, Zhang Jianjun subconsciously followed Xi Mufan's steps, glancing back at the trash can. "Prank...prank? Who's so bored as to send you a prank letter from so far away? Hey...wait for me!"

He scratched his head, looking at Xi Mufan's tense profile and noticeably quickened pace. He could only swallow his questions and jogged to catch up. "Report...report, I'm still a little short. Could you keep an eye on things for me on the way? Mufan? Xi Mufan! Why are you walking so fast!"

Xi Mufan didn't turn around or say anything more. He just strode straight towards the laboratory.

It was as if she wanted to completely throw that letter from the Northwest, along with that name and all the past, into the trash can in the cold corridor behind her.

His upright figure in the dimly lit corridor exuded an almost rigid resolve.

......

Since returning to the family compound two weeks ago, Guan Wenru has kept herself busy with work.

Only in this way can I stop missing my grandma so much.

After the feed processing plant expanded, she had a lot to deal with every day.

She becomes even more worried every time the rainy season arrives.

After all, the feed processing plant was built along the river.

That night, the rain poured down outside the window again, pounding against the roof with a crackling sound, and the wind howled.

The phone at home rang shrilly.

Guan Wenru quickly answered the phone, "Hello? This is Guan Wenru."

A frantic, muffled voice came from the other end of the phone: "Factory manager! Something terrible has happened! A flash flood has occurred! The river is swollen! The raw material warehouse... the warehouse is about to be flooded! Corn stalks and bran are all inside!"

"What?" Guan Wenru's expression changed drastically. "I understand! Organize manpower immediately! Move as much as you can! Move it to the higher warehouse! I'll be there right away!"

She slammed down the phone, grabbed the raincoat from the back of the chair, and hurriedly put it on.

Besides the raw materials, the most important thing is the people in the staff dormitory.

We must evacuate safely!

The triplets sat on the kang (a heated brick bed), gazing at her expectantly.

Guan Wenru patted the three children's heads. "Mommy has to go to work. How about Mommy asks Auntie to come and keep you company?"

Xiao Bao, being the most clingy, immediately hugged her arm and asked, "Mommy, can't Xiao Bao go with you?"

"No, it's raining heavily outside, it's not safe."

"Can we go find Daddy?"

Guan Wenru patted their heads again, "That won't work either. Dad has already gone out to work. Be good and listen to your aunt at home. Mom will be back soon."

The triplets were reluctant, but they had no choice but to agree.

Guan Wenru quickly went to find Zeng Chunlan, "Sister-in-law, I need to go to the factory, could you please help me...?"

"No trouble at all!" Zeng Chunlan knew what she was going to say and nodded without thinking. "I'll take care of the children. It's just that it's too dangerous for you to go out in this heavy rain."

Guan Wenru shook his head indifferently, "I'll be careful, something's happened at the factory! A flash flood is coming down, the raw material warehouse is going to be flooded! I have to get there quickly! I also have to evacuate the employees."

She was the factory director, and she was responsible for fulfilling her duties in her position.

Even if it's dangerous, she has to go!

Zeng Chunlan's expression changed. "Then you must be careful. Don't worry about things at home! Leave the children to me! You...you must be very careful! The rain is too heavy!"

"Then I'll leave it to you, sister-in-law!"

After saying that, she didn't hesitate and quickly rode away on her bicycle.

Zeng Chunlan also rushed to Guan Wenru's house to help comfort the three children.

......

An hour later, the wind and rain were still raging.
