Chapter 279 He didn't sacrifice himself?

The scene was chaotic, and Gu Siyu was still shouting excitedly, inciting the emotions of the disaster victims.

Lei Yongkang couldn't help but step forward and shout, "Shut up! What's all the noise about! This is a natural disaster! The sky isn't raining and the land isn't growing crops! It's not like our small feed factory caused this!"

And so many people need to eat, how can a factory of our size help? What can we do to help? What methods do we have?! You comrades, stop making trouble here!

Guan Wenru raised her hand to signal Lei Yongkang to calm down.

She didn't look at the hysterical Gu Siyu, but calmly swept her gaze over the pale-faced, fearful disaster victims in front of her.

Her heart ached again!

It seems I'll need her help with the space!

Fortunately, when she came in the morning, she took some food out of her spatial storage and put it in the office.

She then took two steps forward, raised her voice to make sure most of the disaster victims could hear her, and said, "Fellow villagers! Please be quiet! Let me say a few words!"

The crowd quieted down a little, and countless eager eyes turned to her.

Guan Wenru sighed, "Your commotion here won't solve anything! If you insist on making a scene, we'll go and ask the police to come and maintain order right now! But I know that you've all really run out of options, which is why you've come to this."

She changed the subject, her tone softening, "We at the feed mill aren't facing starvation yet."

But in this situation, who doesn't lack food? Who is having an easy time?

Now that you've arrived here and are blocking my factory gate, I, Guan Wenru, can't just stand by and watch you starve to death in front of us.

That's it! Our factory workers tighten their belts and save every last bit of food they can get to make several large pots of thin noodle soup!

I can't guarantee I can feed you all to your heart's content, but at least I can give everyone a few sips of hot water to warm your stomachs and keep you alive!

A low murmur and discussion arose in the crowd, and a faint glimmer of hope rekindled in the eyes of many.

Guan Wenru's tone suddenly turned stern, and her gaze swept over everyone, "But! Let me make this clear! This is all we can do, we only have noodle soup!"

Anyone who wants a taste of this soup, go wait in the open space by the woods across the street! Once the soup is ready, our factory workers will carry it out and distribute it to everyone!

But anyone who still thinks about causing trouble at the factory gate, who tries to push their luck, or who dares to storm the gate, will get nothing! I'll immediately send someone to call the police! I mean what I say!

The disaster victims looked at each other and whispered among themselves:

"Even a bowl of hot soup would be fine..."

"Yeah...maybe there will be some noodles in the soup...it's better than going hungry..."

"What Director Guan said makes sense... Their factory isn't having an easy time either... After all, they don't grow crops here either, it's similar to our land."

"Yeah, let's go, let's go wait in the woods... Stop fooling around..."

After figuring it out, the crowd began to move slowly.

Most people chose to follow the instructions and walked towards the woods on the other side.

As they passed Guan Wenru, several of the older disaster victims hesitated for a moment before whispering, "Thank you... thank you, Director Guan... if we hadn't been forced to do this, we wouldn't have done it. Thank you for your understanding, Director Guan."

Guan Wenru nodded. "I understand. They're all just pitiful people. You can go and wait."

As the crowd gradually dispersed, Guan Wenru immediately turned to the canteen's experienced cooks and instructed them, "Chef Zhang, Chef Li, the canteen's food supplies are rationed and cannot be used without approval from higher authorities."

Well, it just so happens that I brought some grain from home today, which I put under my office desk; it's ten pounds of wheat flour.

Take this and ask around the factory if anyone is willing to trade coarse grains. Ten pounds of white flour for thirty pounds of coarse grains. Use the coarse grains to make porridge immediately, the sooner the better!

Chef Zhang from the canteen's eyes lit up, and he nodded quickly, "Yes, sir! I'll go get it right away!"

Mr. Zhang was overjoyed; he didn't need to ask anyone who wanted a replacement.

Old Zhang's family moved first!

These days, white flour is so precious, there's nowhere to buy it even if you want to!

Mr. Zhang jogged to the office.

Guan Wenru waved to the workers still standing around, "Everyone, stop crowding around and go back to your work. Everything's fine here."

The workers gradually dispersed.

But Guan Wenru noticed that Gu Siyu did not follow the crowd to the woods. She was still holding onto her two children tightly, as if nailed to the spot, glaring at her fiercely.

Seeing this, Hua Xiaoyu and Bai Yun did not leave. They stood on either side of Guan Wenru, watching Gu Siyu warily.

Gu Siyu's voice trembled with excitement and weakness, but it was full of resentment, "Guan Wenru...you really have some tricks up your sleeve! You think you can get rid of someone with a few mouthfuls of noodle soup that looks like dishwater?"

Search your own conscience! How successful has your feed mill been all these years? Everyone knows that.

You now have your own transport fleet, with several large trucks!

You are fully capable of buying grain from other provinces that have not been affected by the disaster!

Why won't you? Why are you so heartless? Do you really want to watch us all die? Do you really want to hold onto that little bit of food and watch us have no way to survive even a single day?!

Her words were like knives. Hua Xiaoyu, who was standing next to her, was so angry that she wanted to retort, but Guan Wenru stopped her with a look.

Gu Siyu's righteously assertive, robber-like logic made Guan Wenru laugh in anger.

Guan Wenru took two steps forward. "Gu Siyu, where did you learn these twisted ideas? It's true that the factory was supported by the military, but the military didn't just conjure up those funds out of thin air. You were there at the time, don't you know where the funds came from?"

Moreover, while our factory's transport team is capable of operating, which province isn't short of food these days? And which road isn't dangerous?
