Chapter 287 Let's retreat first!

He Yanzhi and Guan Wenru took their three children to the movie theater.

It was quite a coincidence that they happened to come across a movie screening not long after they arrived.

The family of five quickly bought tickets and went inside.

The movie theater was dimly lit, and a lively movie was playing on the screen.

The triplets watched intently, occasionally giggling. To avoid disturbing others, they even covered their mouths with their hands to try not to make any noise.

Guan Wenru smiled as she looked at the screen, her hand naturally resting on He Sheng's shoulder.

After staring for an unknown amount of time, He Yanzhi suddenly frowned slightly and glanced back discreetly.

But behind him, there seemed to be nothing but people watching movies.

After a moment of silence, he leaned closer to Guan Wenru and said in a low voice, "You guys keep an eye on things for now. I'm going to the restroom and I'll buy a few bottles of soda on the way back."

Guan Wenru turned her head and saw that his brows were slightly furrowed. She became cautious and said, "Hmm."

He Yanzhi patted her head, stood up, and walked back along the aisle between the seats.

He didn't leave immediately, but stood at the back, carefully observing the people in each seat.

He left only after confirming that everything seemed normal to them.

Guan Wenru, however, was not fully immersed in the movie.

After He Yanzhi left, her gaze inadvertently swept across her surroundings.

In a corner seat not far away, a tall, thin man stood up, seemingly about to leave as well.

The moment Guan Wenru's gaze met the man's, a fleeting glance in his eyes sent a strange sense of unease through her.

Thinking of He Yanzhi's slightly furrowed brows just now, her heart skipped a beat.

So when the man started to move, she instinctively reached into the crossbody bag on her lap.

The tall, thin man clearly noticed her subtle defensive movement and paused for a moment.

He quickly put on a slightly awkward, even somewhat naive smile and pointed in the direction of the triplets.

He lowered his voice, his tone slightly embarrassed, "Comrade, don't misunderstand... I just couldn't help but take a second look at your three children... they look so alike! It's really rare! Are they triplets? They look exactly the same, you're so lucky!"

Seeing his natural attitude and the mention of children, Guan Wenru relaxed her guard slightly and returned a polite smile, "Yes, they are triplets, and they are very naughty."

The tall, thin man smiled and nodded. "Hey, that's great! You sit down, I'm going out for a smoke."

He smiled, turned around and continued walking towards the back door, looking like an ordinary spectator simply curious about the triplets.

As Guan Wenru watched his retreating figure disappear into the distance, the strange feeling in her heart slowly dissipated.

Attention has returned to the movies and the children.

Perhaps... she's just being too sensitive!

But it's not her fault; anyone who's been through life and death is afraid of something going wrong.

In particular, she had seen a lot of news in her later life, and those criminals, once they were not brought to justice, would try every means to take revenge on the families of those heroes.

He Yanzhi's job is special, and she just helped the police solve such a big case, so she can't help but be cautious.

......

The aisle at the back of the movie theater was somewhat dim. As He Yanzhi walked back, he brushed past the tall, thin man.

The tall, thin man, a smile plastered on his face, leaned closer and whispered, "Comrade, you two are so lucky! You've had three big, healthy boys in one go! And they all look exactly alike! I'm so envious!"

He Yanzhi didn't stop walking, but her sharp gaze swept across his face, and she responded indifferently, "Thank you."

The two passed each other.

He Yanzhi took a few steps, then looked back thoughtfully at the tall, thin man's retreating figure as he disappeared through the door, before returning to his seat.

He naturally put his arm around Guan Wenru's shoulder, leaned close to her ear, and whispered in a low voice that only the two of them could hear, "When I went out just now, did you see anyone suspicious? Or was there anyone who made you feel uncomfortable?"

Guan Wenru tilted her head slightly and responded in a low voice, "If you put it that way... there was indeed someone who was quite strange just now."

He was sitting in that corner when he suddenly stood up and stared intently at me and the child, which startled me.

As soon as my hand touched the bag, he smiled at me and said that he couldn't help but glance at the triplets a couple more times because he found them so adorable. Then he left.

He Yanzhi frowned slightly, recalling the man who had struck up a conversation at the door earlier. "Was he tall and thin, wearing a gray jacket?"

Guan Wenru nodded. "Yes, it's him. You ran into him too?"

He Yanzhi's eyes darkened, and he nodded slightly. "Yes, he said a few words to me at the door, praising the child. Maybe... I'm just overthinking it."

He thought about the person's appearance carefully and realized he had never seen him before.

He had seen the sketches of that criminal gang, and the man's appearance just now did not resemble any of those sketches.

But He Yanzhi paused, his tone becoming serious, "However, Wenru, there's something I need to make you aware of. The gang I took down in my last mission was large and powerful, with a complicated network of connections."

Although most of them were caught, it's hard to guarantee that one or two wouldn't slip through the net and linger outside. I did get some exposure back then.

At this point, he squeezed her hand. "So in the future, when you're out and about, especially with children, be extra careful. If you sense anything is wrong, don't hesitate, be alert immediately. Safety first."

Guan Wenru sensed the seriousness in his words and nodded earnestly, "I understand. Don't worry, I will be careful."

He Yanzhi then relaxed slightly and pulled her closer to his arms.

His gaze, however, still swept warily across the dimly lit corners of the theater.
